He told staff at Carmine’s on the Upper West Side he became obsessed with the restaurant in 1995 after his “Billy Madison” premiere party there. He’s celebrated every opening there since. “He’s had a number of them here, they’re usually under 50 people,” said a rep for the restaurant. Sandler’s latest was “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan,” when he ordered so many porterhouse steaks for guests like John Turturro, waiters had to run to Carmine’s Midtown location to get more.

Adam Sandler may wish he stuck to being “The Waterboy.”

The 41-year-old actor broke his ankle over the weekend while playing basketball — but still won the game — according to a statement sent to The Associated Press from Sandler’s representative.

Sandler, who starred in “Happy Gilmore” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” is currently shooting Walt Disney Pictures’ “Bedtime Stories.” In the film, due out later this year, Sandler plays as a hotel handyman whose bedtime stories magically come true. The statement said the injury will not affect production.

ADAM SANDLER rushed to the rescue of an elderly woman he spotted lying covered in blood in a car park recently. The I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry star was visiting Culver Ice Arena in California with his wife and children when he saw the injured woman lying outside and immediately phoned for an ambulance. As paramedics raced to the scene, Sandler took the shocked woman indoors and comforted her until help arrived. He then followed the ambulance to the hospital. An onlooker tells U.S. tabloid Globe, “Adam was so upset over the woman’s condition, I thought it was his own mother or grandmother. “She’s sprained her wrist and had a pretty big gash on her forehead and seemed really out of it.”

Adam Sandler says there’s a moral to his upcoming movie, in which he plays a heterosexual fireman who pretends to be gay.

“This movie says there’s nothing wrong with being gay. There’s just something wrong with being gay for Kevin James,” Sandler told Newsweek.

James, star of the CBS comedy “The King of Queens,” and Sandler portray firemen pretending to be a gay couple to receive domestic partnership benefits. The film, “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” is scheduled to be released July 20.

“I know Kevin, and it’s kind of a strange thing to have to play. So to ease the tension, before the first day of shooting, we had sex with each other,” Sandler said. “We just got it out of the way so it wouldn’t be an issue. It’s an old tip I picked up from working with (Jack) Nicholson.”
