Now, a tipster tells us, a guy is calling around to p.r. firms all over LA looking for someone to get the word out about Sims. “He asked his assistant to put together a list of firms and now he’s randomly reaching out to all of them and trying to put together a team,” we’re told. A friend of Alli’s told us, “The response to her single requires her to find representation.”

Britney Spears’ former assistant, Alli Sims, turned up for Thursday’s Montblanc Oscar brunch at Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson’s LA villa, where the brand offered up a showcase of its red-carpet diamond jewelry. The aspiring pop tart bragged to guests about her upcoming album and bopped along to the tune of Spears’ “Piece of Me.” While photographer Roger Moenks, Nicky and Kathy Hilton, Joan Collins and Tara Reid mingled, Hollywood A-list stylist George Bloodwell was busy scoping out a $5 million Montblanc diamond necklace for Helen Mirren to wear to the Academy Awards. But Marla Maples also fell in love with the piece and wore it around all afte noon.

Britney Spears’ cousin and former assistant Alli Sims says the troubled pop star is “not crazy,” but she’s worried about the singer’s new beau, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib.

Despite paid offers to dish on Spears, Sims has stayed out of the fray. She has never commented on the singer before and wants it known she was not paid to talk. She breaks her silence to Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now.

“I do not think Adnan is a good person,” Sims, 26, tells Us. “I think he only has bad intentions. He has given me a weird feeling and creeped me out. I wish he would just go away.”

“When you go through your whole life just listening to what everybody tells you to do, you get to the point where you’re not used to having to pick out yourself what is really important,” she tells Us of her relationship with Spears and her adviser Sam Lutfi.

Sims is adamant that Spears was not on drugs before she was hospitalized on Jan. 3. “I do not think that is the issue at all,” she tells Us. “I was with her for eight months pretty much every day and never witnessed anything like that – and I lived there.” (Sims was not with Spears during her meltdown, despite reports otherwise.)

The aspiring singer says Spears “adores” her two children and is simply upset and sad by her custody situation. “I wish people would give her a break and lay off her,” she adds.

It looks like Britney Spears’ cousin/friend/ex-assistant Alli Sims’ hope of getting a TV career out of her relationship with Brit has been shattered!

An insider tells Life & Style that Maloof Productions, run by the family that owns the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and the Sacramento Kings basketball team, had planned to produce an Entourage-style reality show with Alli as the star.

But the Maloofs have suddenly changed their minds. “While Britney was being hospitalized in LA, Alli, her supposed best friend, was self-promoting in NYC. She was flown in for meetings to draw attention to her career — including her reality show. Only problem is, it’s not happening,” the insider says.

“While she was partying in New York at Tenjune, the Maloofs decided to drop the idea. Although it was supposed to be Alli’s show, Britney was always the main draw.

“Alli and Britney are obviously not close anymore, and Alli’s even had a falling out with the Spears family. So the Maloofs lost interest in going forward!”

Denying online reports, Alli Sims, Britney Spears’ cousin and former assistant, tells Usmagazine.com that her reality show has not been canceled and her trip to New York over the weekend – when Spears was hospitalized – was not an affront to their relationship.

“While Britney was being hospitalized in LA, Alli, her supposed best friend, was self-promoting in NYC,” an “insider” told Life & Style.

“These claims are ridiculous,” Sims tell Us. “I had plans for a girls weekend, and my friends had already flown into town to meet up with me. Yes, I continued with my plans that included going to dinner and a club. How was I to predict what would happen the weekend I was gone?”

“As far as having a falling out with anyone, that is simply not true,” Sims says. “I love Britney, and care way more about her well-being than any of these strangers making these claims.”

Sims tells Us her proposed reality show has not been scrapped, as the report claimed, because it’s still in the discussion stage. Sims asks, “How can it be pulled when it was never beyond discussion and experimental stages?”

On Friday, it was incorrectly reported that Sims had broken down a door to reach Spears before the singer was taken to Cedars-Sinai. “Even if I was there I would not have banged down the door with a hammer, that’s not my style,” she told Us.

Britney Spears’ cousin and former assistant Alli Sims was not involved with rescuing the singer during her breakdown last night.

PageSix.com reported Sims used “brute force to pry the singer out of the bathroom where she had barricaded herself with son Jayden James late last night.”

But Sims tells Usmagazine.com: “I absolutely was not there. And even if I was there I would not have banged down the door with a hammer, that’s not my style. I would have knocked!”

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo credits his football position for the public interest in his companions.

Asked at a team press conference, “How do you respond to reports that you were with Britney Spears this weekend?” Romo broke out in a laugh and replied, according to ETonline: “I think [it] sometimes goes with this position. Being the quarterback … you’re at the same place with someone else and people just run with it now.”

The NFL star also claimed he’s no stranger to being gossip fodder. “It’s happened a few times now, two or three times where people just say, ‘You’re dating whoever,’ ” he said, citing “Jessica Simpson last year, you know?

“So it’s just the position, I guess, in some ways. And you just learn that and shake your head every once in a while and you move on.”

Spears, 25, and Romo, 27, were briefly spotted together last weekend at the L.A. restaurant Ketchup, where Romo was having dinner, and then later with Spears’s pal Alli Sims and some others at the Hollywood hotspot Les Deux.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE this week, Sims staunchly refuted some reports that Spears had performed a lap dance for Romo.

“The story is untrue,” says Sims, 26. “Tony is a gentleman, and Britney wouldn’t do that, especially to a good friend of mine.”

Explaining their activities, Sims said, “We were all in a private area upstairs and sat down talking for most of the night, but did get up to dance a little.”

As for claims that Spears pulled another infamous outfit change: “Not true,” says Sims – though the pop star did leave her cell phone behind on the table, which they retrieved shortly after.
