The Saturday Night Live comic, 37, and her husband, Will Arnett, 38, welcomed their first child, a son, a rep for Poehler confirms to Usmagazine.com.

“On behalf of Amy and Will, I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday, October 25th,” her rep tells Us. “He is 8lbs., 1oz.

“Amy, Will and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably,” the rep adds.

Poehler has said she’s ready for motherhood.

“I’m great with kids,” she told New York’s Daily News. “I think I’m still a big, giant kid. I understand them and usually we’re the same size. I think I understand the way they look up at the world. I get it.”

Poehler announced she’s leaving SNL after the November election to helm her own NBC sitcom, created by the producers of The Office.

No joke: Amy Poehler’s leaving Saturday Night Live.

According to the Los Angeles Times, she tells the new issue of Men’s Vogue that she is taking a break after the November election as she prepares to welcome her first child. And she won’t be returning after maternity leave.

“It’s gonna be really hard — Boyz II Men hard — to say goodbye to yesterday,” she says. “SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down.”

Poehler won’t be off the small screen altogether.

She has signed on for NBC’s upcoming Office spin-off, set to air next year.

“I can kind of confirm that I will be working in some capacity on that show,” she said in July. “I don’t really have any other details yet.”

Next up: The Emmys. She is nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for SNL.

She generated laughs this past weekend, portraying Hillary Clinton in a sketch with Tina Fey, who played Sarah Palin.

Saturday Night Live’s roster of veteran “Weekend Update” anchors – Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Dennis Miller, Tina Fey – is about to get younger.

“When [Amy Poehler] has her baby, her baby is going to host ‘Update,’ ” SNL star and “Weekend Update” co-anchor Seth Meyers cracked to PEOPLE at Sunday’s Journey to the Center of the Earth premiere, in L.A.

Meyers’s “Update” partner Poehler, is pregnant with her first child, due later this year. Fear not, SNLfans – it won’t affect the “Update” lineup … much.

“That’s the newest change. But other than that, it’s pretty much the same,” Meyers, 34, says, before catching himself. “No, we’re going to do it the same. I think her due date is later in the fall. So, we’re going to be fine to start.”

SNL has been on summer break, but Meyers says he’s heard Poehler, 36, who played a surrogate mom in this spring’s screen comedy Baby Mama, on the topic of kids.

“She talks about it, and I just groan and go, ‘Uhh, ladies talking about babies,’” he says. “Of course she’s excited. We’re all excited for her.”

Asked what kind of mother Poehler, who is married to Semi-Pro star Will Arnett, will be, Meyers says, “I think she’s going to be a great mom.”

Baby Mama star Amy Poehler is about to be one herself.

The Saturday Night Live regular, 36, and her husband, Will Arnett, are to become first-time parents, their rep Lewis Kay confirms to PEOPLE.

The baby is due in late fall.

The couple have been married since 2003.

This has been a big week for Poehler. Baby Mama, costarring Tina Fey, landed in the No. 1 box-office spot this weekend, and her Nickelodeon show, The Mighty B, also debuted.

Arnett, 37, is currently shooting the big-screen comedy When in Rome with Kristen Bell.

GUESTS were rolling on the floor at the French Institute-hosted, top-secret screening on Sunday of “Baby Mama,” starring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Dax Shepard, Greg Kinnear, Steve Martin and Sigourney Weaver. Those running the screening were “very strict about not letting any media or recording devices in,” but “a seemingly random audience” was beckoned from the street to give feedback on the comedy, in which Poehler plays a surrogate mother to an infertile Fey. “We watched the film and then filled out a questionnaire,” said our spy. “Amy Poehler was the best thing in the movie.”
