Amy Winehouse’s husband was sentenced Monday to 27 months in jail for assault and obstructing justice.
Blake Fielder-Civil has admitted beating up pub manager James King in a barroom fight in 2006 and then offering him $400,000 to keep quiet about it.
Judge David Radford told Fielder-Civil he had behaved in a “gratuitous, cowardly and disgraceful” way.
Winehouse, who has regaled concert audiences for months with appeals for the release of “my Blake,” was not at the London court.
Fielder-Civil has spent almost nine months in jail since his arrest, and could be freed in December, once he has completed half his sentence.
Three other men – James Kennedy, Anthony Kelly and Michael Brown – pleaded guilty to involvement in the plot. Brown received 33 months for assault and perverting the course of justice (the equivalent of obstruction of justice in the U.S.), while the other two received shorter sentences.
King, the assault victim, was acquitted by a jury last month of trying to pervert the course of justice. He said he was intimidated into withdrawing his assault claim in exchange for cash.
Winehouse and Fielder-Civil, 26, married in Miami in May 2007. He was arrested in November and has been in jail ever since.
She has become an international star since releasing the Grammy-winning album, “Back to Black,” in 2006. But her music has been overshadowed by reports of drug use, run-ins with the law and her tempestuous relationship with Fielder-Civil.
Fielder-Civil’s lawyer, Jeremy Dein, told the judge that his client was “of exemplary good character” and should be freed.
Radford said that while Fielder-Civil had no previous convictions, “exemplary good character” was stretching it, “if what I read about him and the use of drugs is true.”
Dein said Fielder-Civil had an “intimate relationship with drug addiction,” but that he and Winehouse were determined to rebuild their lives.
“It’s their ambition to divorce themselves from hard drugs, not to separate themselves from each other,” Dein said. “He knows that if he fails, an appointment with calamity awaits, not just for him, but for his wife as well.”

Soul diva Amy Winehouse sipped from a glass of red wine and looked a bit unsteady on her feet as she appeared in front of a large audience at the Rock in Rio music festival southeast of Madrid on Friday.
Then, as tens of thousands cheered, she threw off a pair of high stiletto heels in favor of white moccasins, donned a white electric guitar and settled into an intense rendition of some of her best known songs, including “Rehab.”
Winehouse delivered a strong vocal performance accompanied by her octet plus two male backing vocalists.
There was no hint of the controversy that saw the Grammy-winning singer scuffle with a fan at the Glastonbury festival in Britain and show up an hour late looking the worse for wear last May in Portugal.
The singer won five Grammy Awards, including best record, best song and best new artist, in early February, but her musical success has been overshadowed by her tumultuous private life and public struggles with drugs and alcohol.
Last month, her father said she developed emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine, although her spokeswoman has said Winehouse only has pre-emphysema symptoms.
Once finished at Rock in Rio, she did not stay for an encore and left the outdoor concert venue by helicopter.
Winehouse’s manager, Michael Jobson, told national broadcaster RTVE that the singer had looked forward to singing in Madrid after appearances in Portugal and Hyde Park, London.
English band Jamiroquai followed Winehouse on stage, with Colombian pop singer Shakira topping the bill.
The Police, Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, Alejandro Sanz and Franz Ferdinand were all due to perform over the weekend.
Organizers said around 350,000 people were expected to have enjoyed music at the newly inaugurated concert site by the end of the festival.
AMY WINEHOUSE’s rat husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL is plotting drug-fuelled sex romps with a woman jailbird he has never even met

Amy Winehouse is out of the hospital and free to roam the streets as she pleases, which is the good news (for her). The bad news is her husband, Blake Incarcerated, has been having a raunchy pen pal affair with a fellow inmate who recently recovered from her heroin addiction. We have a feeling it’s about to start back up.
The letters have been released to the media, and they’re a good read if you enjoy deciphering crack talk. Some of the highlights include when he admits he and Amy opened up their relationship because she’s been sleeping around and all he wants is a “loyal sweet, staunch, slutty girlfriend.” Oh, and when the two pen pals finally meet up, he plans to choke her as she is performing special “favors” for him. Who says chivalry is dead?
After the jump: More incoherent ramblings, including discussion of Amy’s interest in a threesome.
I’ve told Amy about you and read a bit of one of your letters. It turns her on and she wants to meet ya. I think she might write to you cuz she asked for your address. I don’t want her to know about all the personal things I’ve written to you about but you can tell her we write dirty, naughty letters to each other if you want. She’ll probably want you to write one to her! So I’m not sure how everything’s going to work out but I have a few nice ideas!! We’ll just see, innit?
Me and Amy are always gonna be close but we’ve decided we’re better as friends. The fact is we’re in an open relationship (well I didn’t know we were til recently!!!) but I don’t want that. I just want a loyal sweet, staunch, slutty girlfriend. … When we really needed them they got wrecked and f***** other people. It’s their loss innit. … Everyone blames the drugs for her being a f****** mess (or they blame me), but to be honest I’ve done drugs all my f****** life and it didn’t turn me into a complete **** . . . well a little bit I guess.
We can just sun ourselves, I can f*** you all over the country and the gear there is f****** unreal!!! Something to look forward to innit?? love love love and long leather gloves. Your Blakey x x x.

AMY WINEHOUSE’S DISASTROUS PERFORMANCE @ GLASTONBURY // SHE ALSO CALLS KANYE WEST A 4 LETTER WORD
Check out Amy Winehouse’s disastrous performance of ‘Rehab’ at last night’s Glastonbury Music Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts which went down last night in Pilton, England. The singer slurred through her lyrics to the point where she sounded like garbling drivel. It doesn’t stop there either. A poor fan suffered the runt of her bizarreness as she strutted along the crowd and elbowed the poor concert goer!:
The trainwreck singer also spat gum into the audience and viciously attacked rapper Kanye West during her performance of ‘Some Unholy War’ where she sang the following line: “At least I’m not opening for a cunt like Kanye” (censored audio is after the cut). West efficiently responded to the attack on his blog where he wrote the following: “Amy Winehouse hates me!!! Now I’ve really made it!!! LOL!!!!”. With the unholy shenanigans that Amy has been carrying on as late, she’s the LAST person to be calling anyone a cunt. Furthermore, I don’t understand why her management continues to let her perform at events when she always ends up making a repeated fool of herself over and over again. Some folks really shouldn’t throw stones from their glass houses.

AMY WINEHOUSE: ‘I HAVE NOTHING TO LIVE FOR’

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE insists her problems with drugs and alcohol stem from “boredom” and feeling like she has “nothing to live for”.
In a rare interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the Back To Black hitmaker reveals that after her husband Blake Fielder-Civil was jailed on charges of assault and perverting the course of justice in November 2007, she felt like her life wasn’t worth living.
The Grammy award-winning singer subsequently cancelled her U.K. tour and ended up in rehab in an attempt to kick her addictions.
She was also treated at a London hospital for traces of emphysema last week.
And Winehouse blames her downward spiral into drink and drugs on her current unhappy state.
She says, “To be honest, my husband’s away, I’m bored, I’m young. I felt like there was nothing to live for. It’s just been a low ebb.”
But the star insists that although she was treated at a London clinic in March, she doesn’t feel like she has fully completed a rehab program.
She adds, “I’ve never been to rehab, I mean, done it properly. I’m young, and I’m in love, and I get my nuts off sometimes. But it’s never been like, ‘Amy, get your life together.’”

Amy Winehouse was photographed smoking in London on Monday after her father Mitch revealed she is suffering from emphysema.
“The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” Mitch told UK newspaper the Daily Mail.
Winehouse, 24, was taken to the hospital last week for tests after she fainted at home in London.
“With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up,” Mitch said. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 percent lung capacity.”
If she doesn’t get treatment, she could need an oxygen mask to breathe, Mitch told the Daily Mail.
“She’s only 24 yet she has the lungs of an 80-year-old,” David H. Nielson, a thoracic surgeon in San Antonio, tells Usmagazine.com. “She’s going to get fatigued [on stage] and have to rest with supplemental oxygen. It will dramatically effect her career.”
“To have this type of emphysema already will likely shorten her life to about 50 years of age,” says Nielson.

Amy Winehouse, who has been hospitalized and undergoing tests after collapsing, is suffering the early stages of emphysema, her father says.
“With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up,” Mitch Winehouse tells the Sunday Mirror in the U.K. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 percent lung capacity.”
The troubled 24-year-old singer was rushed to the hospital June 16 after fainting in her London home. Tests so far have ruled out tuberculosis, but her father says his daughter has serious health problems.
“When we got to the hospital a room was ready,” Mitch Winehouse tells the newspaper. “Several doctors came in and checked to make sure she didn’t need any emergency treatment. They put her on a drip straight away because she was dehydrated. She said, ‘Don’t worry about me, dad. I know I’ve got to stop taking drugs now.’”
Winehouse had been awake for 48 hours before going to the hospital, her father says. After she was admitted, she “curled up in bed” and slept for three straight days, he says.
“She’s got emphysema,” he says. “It’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe.”

Dad says Winehouse has emphysema

Soul singer Amy Winehouse has developed the lung condition emphysema and has been warned by doctors that she will die if she continues smoking drugs, her father said in an interview on Sunday.
Mitch Winehouse said the incurable illness, which leaves sufferers struggling for breath, was diagnosed when his daughter had series of health checks in hospital.
“The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” he was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror. “The doctors have said that if she had continued the way she was going she could have ended up an invalid — she wouldn’t have been able to breathe.”
He added: “She’s got emphysema. It’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe.
“With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes, her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 percent lung capacity.”
He added that a spell in hospital last week and renewed treatment for her well-publicized drug addiction had offered a ray of hope for his 24-year-old daughter.
“If she doesn’t go back to drugs, then she can lead this magnificent life,” he said. “We are praying that that’s what Amy really wants. She seems resolute.”
He called on drug dealers to help her recovery by refusing to supply her with crack cocaine.
There is no medical reason why she shouldn’t be able to perform at the Glastonbury Festival next weekend, he added. In the past, work has helped to keep her away from drugs.
“If she hadn’t done recent shows in Moscow and Portugal she could have been dead by now,” he said. “She abstains and regulates her drug use when she has to do a show.”
Winehouse won five Grammy Awards in February and enjoyed commercial success with her album “Back to Black.”
