It appears Katy Perry was struck by Cupid’s arrow during a visit to Las Vegas on Valentine’s Day.

The singer was spotted getting very cosy with Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, who split from heiress Paris Hilton last year.

The smitten pair could barely keep their hands off each other as they partied together following her gig at Hard Rock Hotel’s Wasted Space.

Katy, 24, descended on The Palazzo hotel’s Lavo nightclub with Benji, 29, who is in the city for a deejaying gig.
The pair, who were joined by a 20-strong entourage, spent the night cuddling up and at one point, Benji even put on a little dance just for her amusement.

They left together just after 2am via a back exit.

An onlooker told America’s OK! magazine: ‘They were with friends but you could definitely tell they were on a date.

‘There wasn’t any public making-out but they were very “friendly” with each other.’

Katy has been single since her relationship with Gym Class Heroes singer Travis McCoy ended just before New Year’s Eve.

The pair spent Christmas together in Mexico prior to calling time on their long-term romance.
Just after their split, McCoy took to his blog where he posted a loaded message about his new computer.

He wrote: ‘My laptop is my new b–. Loyal. Listens. And never lets me down.’

After nine months together, it looks like Paris Hilton has split from the man she once declared as the love of her life, Benji Madden.

The hotel heiress hasn’t been seen with the “Good Charlotte” rocker for over a week, and both have been hitting up Hollywood hotspots separately, sparking speculation that they’d entered splitsville. A source close to the couple told Tarts that the star-studded duo is pretty much kaput.

Reps for the couple did not respond to a request for comment.

So went wrong between the joined-at-the-lip twosome? It seems that Hilton and Madden recently sealed a rumored six-figure deal to swing by Australia on New Year’s Eve to attend the launch party for a new social online networking system, Bongo Virus. Paris is booked to be the host of the bash, while Benji is set to do the spinning.

According to an insider associated with the Australian company, Prince William may have had plans to meet up with Paris to ring in the New Year, having spent quite some time with her while she’s been filming her “My BFF” show in London.

“For security reasons, he won’t confirm his attendance until just before, but we’re told he is pretty keen to meet up with Paris,” said the source.

Bongo Virus confirmed that Prince William had been invited to the New Year’s Eve bash, but declined further comment. A rep for the Royal Family could not be reached.

“We aren’t that worried if Benji and Paris don’t want to come together,” said our insider. “But we know Paris will definitely be there, and we can’t wait.”

So did Prince William’s extra attention irk Benji? According to an inside source, the ultra-quiet Benji can be well, kind of controlling, which apparently played a significant role in his split from former fiancée Sophie Monk. And given Paris’s perennial partying lifestyle and love of the nightlife, things just weren’t smooth sailing.

Another source tells Tarts that Nicole Richie never really approved of her childhood friend dating her fiance’s twin brother which may have added some strain to the relationship, although Richie previously denied that she had a problem with the relationship.

But it doesn’t sound as though Hilton is letting any ofthis get her down. Pop Tarts spotted the 27-year-old partying well into the wee hours of Wednesday morning at West Hollywood hotspot Apple, where she laughed and joked with galpals and went wild dancing on the couches.

Paris Hilton is fed up with being out of the spotlight and has dumped her boyfriend of nine months, Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, to resume partying.

Hilton publicist Alanna McCarthy said yesterday the two “remain very good friends.”

Hilton – now on MTV in “Paris Hilton: My New BFF” – started dating Madden in February, after meeting him through her best friend, Nicole Richie, who had a baby with Benji’s twin, Joel Madden.

But the heiress caused quite a splash in Miami over the weekend, when photos surfaced of her coyly whispering into the ear of her ex Stavros Niarchos at Liv nightclub in the rebuilt Fontainebleau hotel. “Paris was with all her BFFs from the show,” one source told us.

Missing in action was Benji, who was in New York Sunday. Our source told us that Hilton was the one who ended it, and, “Benji was really upset when the photos [of her and Niarchos] came out.”

Hilton’s chances of getting another shot with the Greek playboy seem slim, however. One source told PAGE SIX’s Neel Shah that the shipping scion is sweet on Annabelle Dexter-Jones.

Niarchos and Dexter-Jones, daughter of Foreigner’s Mick Jones, were getting cozy at Julia Restoin-Rotfeld’s birthday at the NoLIta lounge Southside last week. “They spent the whole time dancing together,” dished one guest. “They didn’t leave each other’s sight at any point in the night.”

Hilton – who always has had more luck in reality television than in real love – still has something to smile about, though. Sources say her ridiculous MTV show will be renewed for another season.

Meanwhile, sister Nicky Hilton chose Cabo San Lucas over Miami last weekend. She was spotted at the Nikki Beach hotel “sunbathing topless in a white Louis Vuitton bikini with her boyfriend, David Katzenberg. “Hotel staff had to tell her to cover up because topless sunbathing is not permitted in Mexico,” our tipster giggled.

Paris Hilton and Benji Madden called it quits Tuesday after nine months of dating, a rep for Hilton confirms exclusively to Usmagazine.com.

“Even though they are still in love, they felt it would be better to just be friends,” a source close to Hilton, 27, tells Us.

The reason for the split?

“Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn’t get along with any of her friends,” the source tells Us. “Friends thought Paris had changed since being with Benji and she wants to be herself again.”

The couple stayed faithful to each other, stresses the source. Hilton was spotted with her ex, shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, in Miami over the weekend, while Madden, 29, hung in NYC with his bro, Joel (beau of Hilton’s best friend, Nicole Richie).

“Nothing went on between Paris and Stav in Miami,” the source tells Us. “She was there for a girls weekend with her BFFs.

“Benji really respected her,” the source adds. “They will be friends forever.”

Hilton and Madden first made their relationship public on February 21, smooching at Hollywood hot spot Villa.

They grew serious quickly. Both were spotted wearing rings with each other’s initials, and Madden called Hilton “wife material.”

In April, Hilton gushed on her MySpace blog: “I’ve never felt so happy and in love, [Benji] is such an amazing guy and life has never been better!”

“[Benji Madden and I] watch movies and I cook really big dinners for him,” Hilton says on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (the episode airs Tuesday). “I’m an amazing cook!”

So what’s on the menu?

“My whole life, my Mom taught me we’re Italian,” says Hilton, 27.

The heiress says she’s spending a lot more quiet nights inside these days with her beau of seven months.

“Just my whole lifestyle is different,” she explains. “We don’t really go out as much anymore unless it’s for work. I just feel like an adult.”

“When you’re single, it’s different because you want to go out with your girlfriends and have fun,” she says. “But when you’re in relationship and you’re in love, there is no point in going out because you just want to be together and do normal things.

“I think for the first time I’m in a really great relationship with a guy I really trust and treats me really well and who would never hurt me,” she adds.

Hilton gives mutual pal Nicole Richie credit for hooking her up with Madden.

“We’ve been friends for seven years. And then when Nicole had the baby, I went over there, and we hung out and got a crush on each other,” Hilton says. “And then from there we were together.”
