Former supermodel Christie Brinkley came face to face with the 21-year-old who had an affair with her husband on the opening day of the couple’s bitter divorce trial.

Brinkley’s estranged husband Peter Cook and his former lover Diana Bianchi, 21, both spoke about their brief affair during the public trial in a Long Island, New York court.

Miss Bianchi was 18 and working as Mr Cook’s personal assistant at his architectural practice when the affair happened. He met her in early 2005 when she was 18 and working at a toy store.

Their affair began that March, around the time he hired her.

She was paid a salary of around £10,000 to type magazine articles on to the company’s website.
He also left her cash payments in various spots – £250 under the rock outside his office, more behind a painting, and gave her £7,500 to help her purchase a car.

Before their relationship ended in late 2005, they had sex in the office a number of times, and at homes in the Hamptons owned by Miss Brinkley.

Testifying in court yesterday, Miss Bianchi said: ‘He had shown interest in me, and I reciprocated. In his office he asked me how I would feel if he told me that he was attracted to me and that’s really how it all started.

‘I think I was a little taken aback, but I wasn’t against it either really. I wouldn’t say that one of us pushed the other. I would say that it was a mutual thing.’

Cook said their affair lasted ‘less than a year’ and he recalled they had sex about 12 times in various locations.

The affair was revealed when Miss Bianchi’s stepfather, a policeman, confronted Cook and accused him of taking advantage of the teenager.

The fling stunned Long Island society, of which Miss Brinkley is a leading light.

She filed for divorce two years ago as it emerged that Cook had paid Miss Bianchi £150,000 ‘shut-up’ money.

Miss Brinkley also intends to call as a witness a married woman who left her husband for Cook and was then dumped by him.

During opening arguments at Central Islip Court on New York’s Long Island, Miss Brinkley’s lawyer Stephen Cohen said Cook visited websites devoted to sexual swingers – using their 12-year-old son Jack’s name.

Jack is Miss Brinkley’s son from her third marriage, to property developer Richard Taubma.

Cook, her fourth husband, adopted Jack shortly after they wed in 1996.

Mr Cook acknowledged his porn usage and admitted their son Jack caught a glimpse of the adult material by accident in 2006.

He sobbed: ‘He said, “Mom is looking at naked pictures of your girlfriends on the computer.”‘

Mr Cook claimed his wife sometimes joined him when looking at pornographic material.

His lawyer said: ‘It was a precursor to sex.’

Miss Brinkley fought to have the hearing held in public, saying her children needed to know the truth about the break-up.

In court yesterday, Mr Cook’s lawyer Norman Sheresky attacked the model for failing to protect her children from the couple’s bitter divorce battle.

He said: ‘For goodness sake: She’s on her fourth husband.

‘Your honour, we’re here because of the self-indulgent wrath of a woman scorned. What kind of a mother wants her husband flogged in public.

‘Opening the case to the public is bad for the kids. That’s not good motherhood, that’s not acceptable.

‘She wants nothing but to get even. She and her lawyers and her PR people are pitching a new history.’

The couple are battling for custody of Jack and his sister Sailor, 10.

Miss Brinkley also has a 22-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, from her marriage to Billy Joel, her second husband.
Taking to the stand yesterday, Miss Joel said her relationship with Mr Cook was good at first, but it began to disintegrate after he married her mother.

She said: ‘He was just very critical of me in general.’

She claimed Mr Cook reacted in an angry manner towards her in 2003 when her lengthy shower caused a leak in the kitchen below at the family’s home.

Miss Joel said: ‘He was pushing me down the stairs… I went down in a towel… and the drips were already coming down into the bucket. He shoved my head into a bucket and said, “You clean this up.”‘

The 54-year-old mother of three – the inspiration for Joel’s hit Uptown Girl – intends to bring 44 witnesses in the case.

Cook’s current girlfriend and an interior designer he briefly dated are also expected to be hauled into court.

At the opening yesterday Mr Cohen called Cook ‘a liar, drunkard and adulterer’ who spent £1,800 a month on porn but failed to contribute to household expenses.

Cook’s lawyer said his client had acknowledged he had used porn. ‘It was wrong and he said it was wrong,’ he said.

Regarding the affair, the lawyer told the court: ‘Peter has apologised.

‘He’s cried his eyes out. He’s lost his marriage.’

Cook wants full custody of the children, whom he sees every other weekend, claiming that Miss Brinkley employs nannies to look after them.

Leaving court yesterday afternoon, Miss Brinkley said: ‘I need some time to let it all absorb.’

The trial continues.

A $300,000 payoff to a teenage mistress. Thousands of dollars worth of online porn. Extramarital trysts in the office and his supermodel wife’s Hamptons homes.

Sensational testimony about Christie Brinkley’s estranged husband opened their divorce trial Wednesday, giving the public a salacious peek into the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model’s fourth marriage.

The husband, architect Peter Cook, testified that he and Brinkley used pornography “to get the mood going.” Alexa Ray Joel, Brinkley’s daughter with “Piano Man” Billy Joel, said Cook once shoved her head into a bucket of water.

And Diana Bianchi, the young woman whose affair with Cook set off a tabloid frenzy and ended the couple’s marriage, testified that he hid cash for her under a rock and gave her $15,000 to help her buy a Nissan Maxima in 2005.

“That is the man who’s come before this court and asked for custody of his 13-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter,” said Brinkley’s lawyer, Robert Stephan Cohen.

Brinkley, 54, and Cook, 49, wed in 1996. She filed for divorce a decade later, after his affair with Bianchi exploded into public view.

“There is no way to make that right,” said Cook’s lawyer, Norman Sheresky. “Peter has apologized. He’s cried his eyes out. He’s lost his marriage.”

Cook and Brinkley are mainly disputing custody of the children. Her ownership of her $30 million home is not being contested because the couple had a prenuptial agreement. They are also arguing over property that includes three boats.

Brinkley fought a bid by the children’s legal guardian to close the trial to the public, and Cook’s lawyer said the model was partly to blame for an unseemly spectacle.

“For goodness sake: She’s on her fourth husband,” Sheresky told the court. “Your honor, we’re here because of the self-indulgent wrath of a woman scorned.”

“What kind of a mother wants her husband flogged in public?” he said.

Cook met Bianchi, then 18, while she was working at a Hamptons toy store in 2004. He testified that he soon hired her to work at his architecture firm, paying her $20,000 to type magazine articles onto the company’s Web site.

Before long, he seduced her while they were working together in the office, she testified.

“He had shown interest in me, and I reciprocated. He asked me how I would feel if he told me he was attracted to me,” she said. “I wasn’t taken aback, but I wasn’t really against it.”

Tentative and halting during an hour of testimony, Bianchi said the two had sex about 10 times before their relationship ended in late 2005. Cook counted about 12 rendezvous — some at the office, some at Brinkley’s homes in the Hamptons.

Tearing up as he testified, Cook said he showered Bianchi with spending money, including $500 secreted outdoors — he said near his office; she said it was outside his and Brinkley’s home. He said he slipped more cash for Bianchi behind a painting.

The $300,000 payout came in May 2007. Cook said he was trying to protect himself and his family from scandal and was concerned that Bianchi might file a sexual harassment lawsuit. No lawsuit was ever filed.

Bianchi’s stepfather, Brian Platt, testified that he told Brinkley about the affair moments after she spoke at the 2006 Southampton High School graduation.

“She was obviously shaken,” Platt said.

Brinkley and Cook presented a portrait of contentment on the Hamptons social circuit. But behind the scenes, they relied on porn as a precursor to intimacy during the last half of their marriage, Cook said. He acknowledged spending about $3,000 a month on pornographic Web sites in 2005. He said he has not accessed the sites since his breakup and maintained he never looked at them in the presence of his children.

Brinkley’s lawyer called her a doting mother whose work schedule revolves around her children.

Cook’s attorney also painted his client as a good parent, noting interviews in which Brinkley referred to him as “the best dad in the world.”

Alexa Ray Joel, 22, testified that Cook treated her well before he married her mother. But she said he was constantly on her case afterward, chastising her “if I chewed too loud” and criticizing her piano playing.

“He was just very critical of me in general,” said Joel, a singer, songwriter and pianist.

When her lengthy shower caused a leak in the kitchen below in 2003, Cook stormed into the bathroom and demanded she mop up immediately, Joel testified. When she got downstairs wearing only a towel, he pushed her head into a bucket and yelled, “You clean this up!” she said.

When Brinkley found out, “she was horrified,” her daughter said.

CHRISTIE Brinkley may regret she fought successfully to have an open courtroom in her scandalous divorce from skirt-chasing architect Peter Cook.

Sources tell Page Six that Cook’s defense team plans to try to clobber the supermodel with nasty evidence that shreds her nice-girl persona. That will include claims that she has bad-mouthed ex-hubby Billy Joel in front of her children, said one top matrimonial expert familiar with the case.

“It’s really bad stuff. She’s going to regret an open courtroom,” the source said. “They are going to present some testimony about the very insulting comments she made to the kids about Billy. Insults to the children . . . that no man wants to be insulted about.”

Joel, the second of Brinkley’s four husbands, wed her in 1985, two years after he wrote “Uptown Girl” for her. They had a daughter, Alexa Ray, 22, before splitting in 1994. Brinkley has two more kids, Jack Paris, 13, with third hubby Richard Taubman, and Sailor Lee, 10, with Cook.

Asked about our source’s information, Cook’s lawyer, Norman Sheresky, said he would not reveal details of his strategy. But, he added cryptically about the open courtroom, “One should be careful for what one asks for.”

Brinkley’s lawyer, Robert S. Cohen, told us: “While [Christie] wished this case would have been resolved, there is nothing that she needs to fear. She’s on the side of the gods.”

A source close to Brinkley insisted Joel is “very close to all three kids – he’s ‘Uncle Billy.’ The notion she tried to poison the kids against Billy is preposterous. Peter is trying to plant falsehoods and innuendo.”

The upcoming trial will be a scorcher. Brinkley is expected to bare Cook’s alleged womanizing. As The Post reported exclusively last week, Cook paid $300,000 to his former teen lover, Diana Bianchi, to keep her from singing about their torrid affair.

Christie Brinkley’s skirt-chasing husband has a penchant for Internet porn and loves to troll swinger sites, the supermodel will claim at their divorce trial.

The allegations will be the first damaging details to come out against Peter Cook since his affair with a Long Island teenager was made public two years ago – and they could devastate the wayward architect when the couple’s divorce trial begins on July 2.

Cook’s lawyer confirmed that Brinkley is ready to make the shameful claims in Suffolk County court, but would not offer up anything else. “I don’t want to make public her accusations,” said Cook’s lawyer, Norman Sheresky. “She’s making a lot of accusations.”

A law guardian for the couple’s two children yesterday asked a Long Island judge to bar the media from the courtroom during the trial so the kids wouldn’t have to hear about Daddy’s dirty deeds.

“What kind of father engages in such atrocious behavior that he’s embarrassed to have a public trial?” asked Brinkley’s celebrity lawyer, Robert Cohen.

Cohen refused to discuss Brinkley’s cybersex claims and declined to comment when asked if Cook had had any other extramarital affairs.

The bad blood between the couple continued to flow after the hearing, when Sheresky slammed Brinkley as a lousy parent for wanting the press to be in the courtroom to hear the details of his affair with a teenage girl and his alleged Internet porn prowling.

But Cohen countered that she needs to restore her reputation and correct “innuendoes, rumors and falsehoods” leaked to the media about her, and that Cook’s “atrocious behavior” in his much-publicized affair with assistant Diana Bianchi “is only the tip of the iceberg.”

Law guardian Theresa Mari of Huntington argued in her court motion that it would harm the couple’s kids, Sailor, 9, and Jack, 12, if the family scandal were reported in the media.

“The mother, supposedly a good mother, wants to have the court open – you go figure that out,” said Sheresky outside the courtroom. “The father obviously wants the court closed. There are two young kids in this case, and there are charges of adultery. Their mother probably told them everything. I don’t know of any parent who has made an application to keep the court open. To me, that’s not good parenting.”
Supreme Court Justice Mark Cohen said he hoped to issue a decision today on admitting the press.

After the hearing, Brinkley said, “I’ve always hoped to be able to settle this matter privately, outside the courtroom.”

When asked about her children, Brinkley, 54, responded, “They’re doing fine.”

Cook, 49, declined to comment.

The couple split after his affair with the then-19-year-old Bianchi was revealed. Brinkley filed for divorce in July 2006.

Christie Brinkley headed to New York Supreme Court on Thursday morning with the hope that her divorce case should be made public, a source close to the case told Access Hollywood.

Brinkley filed for divorce from her fourth husband, Peter Cook, in 2006 as news of his alleged infidelity with his then 18-year-old assistant emerged.

Among the things that may be revealed if the case, which begins July 2 is made public, are allegations that Cook trolls Internet porn sites. He also regularly logged on to swingers sites in search of women, the source claimed.

Despite Brinkley’s efforts, a law guardian for the couple’s two minor children however, will ask for the case to be kept private.

One reason Brinkley reportedly wants the case to be made public is because she is still upset at her ex.

“She’s still spitting mad at Cook,” the source said.

CHRISTIE Brinkley wants to save the Town of Southampton from ugly telephone poles. The supermodel has launched a petition drive to stop the Long Island Power Authority from putting up new, 48- to 60-foot utility poles rather than underground cables. “They will remove many of our beautiful trees to raise the unsightly poles – miles of them,” she writes in a letter to residents. “Will they withstand a nor’easter? An ice storm? A hurricane? Will our escape route be blocked by a heavy pole?” The petition has drawn more than 2,000 signatures so far, including those of Bruce Weber, Ross Bleckner, Harry Evans and Carl Bernstein.

CHRISTIE Brinkley’s cheating ex has finally found someone who will date him. Peter Cook , who stepped out on the supermodel with 19-year-old Diana Bianchi, was kryptonite to East End females for about a year. But the cad is now dating “a young blonde,” spies said. Cook brought the babe to Wei Fun in East Hampton on a romantic dinner date Wednesday and “were engrossed in conversation the entire evening. They came in around 9 p.m. and enjoyed each other’s company throughout a relaxed meal until about 10:30. He barely looked away from his date and focused his attention on her 100 percent of the time.”
