Clay Aiken will be hitting the Broadway stage for the first time on January 18 when he begins his stint playing Sir Robin in Monty Python’s Spamalot. While Clay admitted to Newsweek that he wasn’t all that familiar with the show prior to signing on: “I thought Monty Python was a person until three months ago,” he’s had a big change of heart since beginning rehearsals.

“The first time I saw it I thought it was the stupidest thing I’d ever seen in my entire life,” he said. “My tour drummer is the Spamalot drummer, and [he] said you’ve got to see it again.” And something tells us anyone who has already seen the show will also want to see it again now that the American Idol runner-up is starring!

Singer Clay Aiken apparently got into a dispute with a woman during a flight to Tulsa, drawing some scrutiny from FBI agents but no charges, a newspaper reported.

The 2003 “American Idol” runner-up was on the Saturday morning Continental Airlines flight for a evening show, and concertgoers said afterward that Aiken joked on-stage about being beaten up by a girl earlier in the day.

FBI Special Agent Gary Johnson told the Tulsa World there was a dispute between a male passenger and a woman on the flight. He said the man was a former “American Idol” contestant but did not give his name.

Johnson said the dispute was over the male passenger’s foot resting on the woman’s armrest. He said there was an allegation the woman gave the male passenger a “minor shove” during the argument.

“At that point the flight crew was able to resolve the situation,” Johnson said.

Tulsa Airport Authority spokeswoman Alexis Higgins said the passengers were held until FBI agents arrived to interview them.

No injuries were reported and the disturbance did not interfere with the flight of the aircraft, Johnson said. The U.S. Attorney’s Office declined to file charges, he said.

Telephone calls and e-mails from The Associated Press to Aiken’s publicist and manager in Los Angeles were not returned Sunday.

There’s a civil war among the Claymates in Claynation. Clay Aiken’s rabid fans – who call themselves “Claymates” and say they live in “Claynation” – are at odds with each other over their former Idol. An insider said, “The war is between the batty members that are still clinging to their heterosexual fantasies of him and others that don’t harbor such illusions.” Aiken’s sexuality has been a subject of speculation ever since several men came out publicly and said they’d met him in gay chat rooms and had relations with him. Aiken has always refused to discuss his inclinations. The Claymates’ clash got so bad that the Official Fan Club at clayonline.com completely suspended its message board and noted, “Due to reports of extensive unrest and disrespect amongst members that has been carrying on for several weeks, the Official Fan Club Message Board will be shut down until further notice. Please note that should tensions continue on other areas of the fan club, severe consequences may occur.” Let’s hope they can get it back up soon!

American Idol finalist Clay Aiken angered Kelly Ripa while co-hosting Live With Regis And Kelly on Friday when he covered her mouth with his hands to stop her from speaking. Problems began after a video clip was shown of Ripa impersonating Aiken on Halloween several years ago.

According to entertainment news website TMZ.com, Ripa claims Aiken became hostile towards her and insists he wasn’t “respectful in any way.”

Tensions remained high throughout the taping of the show, culminating with Aiken putting his hands over her mouth to try and keep her from talking while interviewing Dancing With The Stars winners Cheryl Burke and Emmitt Smith. Ripa slammed Aiken at the time saying, “Oh, that’s a no-no…. I don’t know where your hands have been!”

Ripa’s co-host Regis Philbin was shocked by the controversy adding, “In my wildest dreams would I ever think that one day you would have a feud with Clay Aiken!”

Claymates will get a special Christmas present this year: Clay Aiken will be appearing on the NBC daytime drama Days of our Lives – as himself.

The American Idol phenom will perform “Everything I Have”, a song from his new album, as part of a private concert for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) in the local Salem club.

Aiken, whose album, A Thousand Different Ways, was released last month, will also have his version of “O, Holy Night” from his 2004 album Merry Christmas with Love featured in the episode, which will tape Nov. 14 and air on Dec. 22.

American Idol star Clay Aiken is refusing to comment on reports he’s gay because he insists his sexuality is “nobody’s business”.

The Invisible singer has refused to deny tabloid reports he had sex with a former soldier, and though he has been happy to discuss the furore about his sexuality in recent TV interviews, he’s not confirming or denying anything.

Instead he says, “That would not make any sense for me to do that… I’ve gotten to a point now where I feel it’s kind of invasive.

“What I do in my private life is nobody’s business anymore. Period.”

He adds, “I don’t understand why people care. I mean I kind of think… you do what you do, and I’ll do what I do.

“I hope that I’m here to sing and be successful and do it well enough that people want to hear me and that’s kind of what I want to do, you know.
