The widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain is to become the latest American star to move to Britain.

Courtney Love says she is quitting the US and wants to put her legendary wild lifestyle behind her and settle in the English countryside.

“I am fed up with Los Angeles. It’s dirty and full of crazy people. I want a complete lifestyle change. People criticise Britain but it is still a cleaner, safer place to live than Hollywood,” she said.

Ms Love, 43, has been looking at houses in the £5 million range in Sunningdale, Berkshire, close to Prince Andrew’s home.

The area is renowned for its large mansions and is popular with professional golfers.

She has viewed Kate Moss’s £3.5 million house in St John’s Wood, North London, but said: “It was too small and I don’t want to live in the city.

“I love the greenery and the freshness of the countryside. It is just a healthier place for me to be. I’ve been house-hunting seriously and I’ll know as soon as I find the perfect place.”

She inherited Cobain’s £35 million fortune when he committed suicide in 1994.

The couple’s daughter Frances Bean is now 15. Ms Love said: “Hollywood is not a healthy place for a teenager to grow up.

“There are too many bad influences. Frances is also looking forward to the move to England.”

The pair will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Madonna, Christian Slater, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicolas Cage and Kevin Spacey, who all have homes in the UK.

The singer, who successfully battled drug addiction, has been romantically linked to a string of British men.

She said: “English men are more fun. I love all things British.”

Ms Love spent a night with comedian Russell Brand at Claridge’s in 2006, and performed a lap dance for him dressed as the Queen on his Channel 4 chat show.

She is also said to have enjoyed a fling with Steve Coogan and two of Kate Moss’s ex-boyfriends – model Jamie Burke and troubled Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty.

She was even linked at one stage with Prince Andrew.

She revealed: “He turned up at my house at one in the morning and he wanted to party. He was looking for chicks.”

Whenever she has been in Britain, Ms Love has out-partied even the most notorious British party animals.

Singer Lily Allen had to cancel a concert after a night out with Love last July, explaining on her MySpace site: “I am not bfs [best friends] w/ [with] C [Courtney] Love, one night with her made me realise why KURT [Cobain] killed himself. I nearly checked into rehab.”

She may be known for her wild antics and trouble with the law but Courtney Love is trying her best for daughter Frances Bean.

Love, 43, says in a new U.K. magazine interview that she recently let 15-year-old Franny (as she calls her) go out alone with a daughter of rocker Sting – only to find out it was to see a film about suicide.

“I wanted to show [her] that she could go out in London without a nanny or bodyguard, so they went by themselves. I wanted to get her a cake because it is the first time she has gone anywhere on her own,” she tells the Sunday Telegraph’s Stella magazine.

Love, however, hadn’t thought about the movie they were going to see – Control, the biopic about Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, who committed suicide. “She came back so disturbed, because I forgot what the movie was about,” she says – before crying at the memory.

‘She Got the Best of Both of Us’

There’s no doubt that she’s proud of Frances, though. “I just want things to be good for her, but she’s a lot like me and a lot like her dad. I think she got the best of both of us, so there’s that.”

However turbulent Love’s life may be, the bond between her and her daughter – whom she’s called a “brainiac” – is obviously intense. “She slept with me for the first time in a long time last night,” Love says. “We get [along] well most of the time but teenagers are hard. Being a single mother is hard.”

Meanwhile, Love is fronting a new campaign for clothing label Givenchy and recording her second solo CD. She has been in an ongoing weight battle and is back to a size four thanks to Madonna’s macrobiotic nutritionist.

“You have to be thin all the time to make it as an actress. But my rock weight is 20 or 30 lbs. more than my film weight,” she told the magazine.

Just what has happened to Courtney Love?

The singer is a shadow of her former attractive self, and appears to be afflicted with a skin condition which has left her mouth looking sore and scabby.

The widow of dead rocker Kurt Cobain arrived at the Groucho Club in London sans make-up unwittingly revealing her scabbed mouth and spotty skin.

But being greeted by a posse of photographers as she arrived in a rickshaw was enough to drive Love to cover up the unattractive blemishes on her mouth.

And unsurprisingly, by the time she left, Love had applied a heavy-duty coating of make-up including a generous application of red lipstick.

However, the make-up did little to hide her increasingly freakish appearance. In a message on her MySpace site, she recently revealed her regret at having had cosmetic surgery on her mouth during what she referred to as “my dark years.”

Love has since had corrective procedures but said her “mouth still looks wonky” and “I have to restore myself to not looking ridiculous.”

The actress and singer has also taken to wearing unnaturally bright blue contact lenses, and her shrunken outfit did little for her dramatically slimmed down body.

Despite the major weightloss, a reported 44-pounds, it appears that her methods may be exacting a heavy toll on her once attractive looks as Love looks far from healthy.

Her straw-coloured hair is almost a perfect match for her deathly pallor, and the low-riding jeans, and cropped shirt she’s wearing do little to flatter her size zero figure.

Love, credits her new figure to visits to a clinic for “colonics and fasting” several times a year and eating a daily diet of two meal replacement shakes and “fish and macrobiotic food.”

Love explained: “Some people think it’s about weight loss, but it’s about detoxing.”

And she blasted actresses who claim their svelte figures are down to a healthy diet.

She said: “I hate reading magazines where the actresses are saying, ‘Broccoli and fish, broccoli and fish.’ You liars. You bulimic liars.”

Love underwent the lifestyle change after packing on pounds last year. The reformed drug addict finshed her last stint in rehab, over two years ago.

Meanwhile, she recently revealed she is looking to her fans to provide inspiration for the lyrics for a new track after suffering a bout of writer’s block.

The former Hole frontwoman is finding it difficult to write fresh material and is calling on her loyal followers to help. She wrote on her MySpace blog: “I need some help with lyrics.

“If I use them you will get a publishing fee. If you feel more comfy copywriting before sending them, that’s cool too.”

One person she might want to avoid while visiting the UK is X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.

Sharon alleged Courtney gave son Jack Osbourne drugs.

Osbourne said: “I will never have time for Courtney Love. There’s not a shadow of a doubt about that. My dislike for her is very personal.”

As Owen Wilson struggles to recover from his suicide attempt on August 26, a battle is brewing between his friend, Steve Coogan and the British comic’s ex-girlfriend, rocker Courtney Love.

A week after Love told Us she tried to warn Owen about his pal (and her ex) Steve Coogan and his alleged past drug use, Us Weekly obtained Coogan’s response: an angry letter from Coogan’s lawyer to Love. (Love’s rep had no comment.)

Highlights: He wasn’t an enabler. Coogan, 41, and Wilson, 38, “have never used drugs together,” says his attorney. Coogan is “concerned about Mr. Wilson,” writes the lawyer, before adding, “Your purported concern…seems much less likely than your apparent intrest in publicly maligning [your ex].”

As for Wilson, the actor has put his $10 million-a-film career on hold for now and is focusing on getting the help he needs from the people who love him most.

Currently, he’s residing at home, under the watchful care of his family, including parents Bob and Laura. “It’s been particularly hard on [brother] Luke, but he’s taking a strong role in the recovery,” says an insider. “They’re looking into getting Owen help, either a treatment facility or someone one-on-one.”

Adds the source: “No one close to him knew how anxious and overwhelmed he was feeling. Now he doesn’t have to hide behind the comedian mask anymore.”

BRITISH actor Steve Coogan is back in the United States and trying desperately to salvage his career after being blamed for Owen Wilson’s drug problems and attempted suicide earlier this week.

Coogan was put in the spotlight for Wilson’s heroin and cocaine problems after his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Love, told Us Weekly, “I went through it with Steve . . . I was just out of rehab, and he was right there with the drugs . . . I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy.”

Our source reports, “Coogan was in Hawaii when the news [of Wilson's suicide try] hit, but he came back Wednesday night and is trying to get in touch with Owen, Luke [Wilson] and Ben [Stiller]. He’s trying to make sure that the movie ['Tropic Thunder'] doesn’t fall through now.”

Wilson had a small role in “Tropic Thunder,” an ensemble comedy Stiller is directing that stars Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. as well as Coogan, who had hung out regularly with the Wilson brothers and Stiller, forming what some in Hollywood called the “Frat Pack.”

The spy added, “He used his relationships and his contacts with seedy people to get bit parts in movies and to get famous.”
Coogan fired back on “Access Hollywood,” saying, “I do want to set the record straight and say that the allegations . . . are completely and utterly false.”

He also told BlackBook magazine editor Steve Garbarino that after he and Love broke up, she tried to break into his home and stalked him – allegations that made Love’s friends furious.

“He has stalked Courtney over the years,” a Love pal fumed. “He has gone to her house on several occasions. He e-mailed her nanny. He asked her to marry him and told her, ‘You’re the most intriguing woman alive.’ You name it. His saying Courtney ever stalked him is the biggest lie ever! He has done nothing but go out of his way to hurt her. He’s obsessed with her.”

Love hasn’t had contact with Coogan in months, except for an e-mail she sent him after Wilson’s suicide attempt. It read, “You must feel really great right now. Does this feel life-affirming?” Love has said on her Web site she’ll have no further comment.
