The ladies of New York can all breathe a sigh of relief: Derek Jeter isn’t engaged – yet.

We caught up with the Yankee shortstop before his team bested the Texas Rangers on Tuesday and asked about the rumors he’s set to wed “Friday Night Lights” actress Minka Kelly, with whom he was reportedly caught ring-shopping earlier this year.

“The what?” Jeter asked incredulously. “Engagement rumors with who? I have not heard that.”

Sounds like Jeter has learned a thing or two from teammate Alex Rodriguez on the importance of keeping his affairs hush-hush: A-Rod has famously remained tight-lipped about his rumored dalliances with Madonna, Donna Karan and now A-list actress Kate Hudson. Despite using his energy as a different kind of player off-field, his teammates say Rodriguez is still bringing his A-game.

“He’s been playing great,” second baseman Robinson Cano said. “I don’t see anything ruining his game.”

Confided first baseman Mark Teixeira: “We don’t really talk about [A-Rod's personal life]. We just really worry about what’s going on on the field and winning baseball games. That’s our job.”

Catcher Jorge Posada echoed that sentiment. “To tell you the truth, we don’t even discuss it,” he said. “He just comes to play ball, and that’s all we care about. Never mind A-Rod’s love life – Posada was quick to call him the driving force behind the team. “He is the guy that splits up the line,” Posada said. “You get him as the cleanup hitter, and everything feels a little better. I think the lineup gets better when he’s here.”

Another person who may agree with Posada is Johnny Hoisik. The 4-year-old Yankee fan from Carle Place, L.I., got the chance to meet his heroes while filming TLC’s “Moving Up” before Tuesday’s game. In addition to having interior designer Doug Wilson create for him a Yankee-themed bedroom with field-turf flooring and a locker room-inspired closet, Hoisik played catch with former player Bernie Williams and received a pair of batting gloves from A-Rod himself.

Ah, if only Minka Kelly were lucky enough to receive a pair of gloves from her man … because it looks like an engagement ring isn’t happening anytime soon!

Derek Jeter has so many friends and family who want to see him and his teammates play, the Yankee captain leased a luxury suite for the season in the new stadium. A team spokesman said the box was big enough for 12, but wouldn’t say how much it cost. But he said that Jeter, one of the highest-paid players in the Major Leagues, paid full price for a suite of its size, which range in cost from $600,000-$850,000 — and he didn’t even get an employee discount.

The Yankee captain is building a gigantic, 30,875-square-foot mansion with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms on Davis Islands in Tampa. But some locals believe Jeter isn’t thinking clearly when it comes to building in today’s economy. One insider mused to Page Six: “Can you hurricane-proof a house that big on the waterfront? And how much water and electricity will it take to run a house like that? Also, does Derek already have a possible wife in mind who’s helping him plan? Because, news flash to him: No woman in her right mind is going to move into a 31,000-square-foot house unless she has had input on how it’s decorated.” Still, Jeter must know something he already owns a five-bedroom, five-bathroom spread in nearby Avila. His rep didn’t get back to us.

The Yankee captain was flying solo yesterday at a Four Seasons luncheon thrown by a watch company, when, “about 10 minutes before it ended, this ravishing, dark-haired beauty comes in wearing jeans and a tank top and waits for him,” a spy tells us. “He went over and took her Hermes Birkin bag, began caressing her face, and the maitre’d ushered them out the back. They looked so cute together. Nobody knew who she was, but it wasn’t Minka Kelly.”

ATTENTION, girls – time is running out to date Derek Jeter . “I hope to be married in the next five years,” he told Fox Business Network’s “Happy Hour” hosts Cody Willard and Rebecca Gomez last night. But any potential bride will be thoroughly vetted. “First of all, you have to pass the test of my mom and my sister,” Jeter said. “My dad’s pretty reasonable. You can get by him. But you can’t fool my mom and my sister. If you can get by them, I think you’re in pretty good shape.”

The hunky Yankee, recently seen playing tonsil hockey with Minka Kelly, knocked on the door of Geisha on East 61st Street at midnight Sunday with an “absolutely drop-dead gorgeous brunette who was definitely not Minka,” a spy told Page Six. “He asked if they could get a quick meal even though the kitchen was closed. They wanted pasta and salad, so the chef next door at Serafina made it and brought it over.” The two “were all over each other, holding hands and kissing.”
