A Falmouth woman isn’t taking a kind view toward “The View” star Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s book on her recently diagnosed ailment.
Susan Hassett, a self-published author, is claiming in a federal lawsuit filed in Boston that the celebrity infringed on Hassett’s copyrights by publishing a book on celiac disease, titled “The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide,” last month.
In her suit, Hassett claims she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her own book, “Living With Celiac Disease,” in April 2008, along with a homemade cooking video, a personal note, a newspaper article and a business card.
Hasselbeck recently discovered she’s long suffered from celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder linked to gluten proteins found in wheat, barley and rye. The disease can cause, among other things, chronic diarrhea and fatigue.
Hasselbeck has said she discovered she had the ailment after returning from a “Survivor” show taping in Australia, where she felt fine and hadn’t eaten the same types of foods as she normally does in the United States.
A publicist for ABC, the network on which “The View” is aired, and for Hachette Book Group, publisher of Hasselbeck’s book, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck gets more death threats than anyone else on “The View”

Whoopi Goldberg revealed Monday night at Cooper Union. Whoopi – part of a panel discussion on Art and Educational Justice hosted by the Stella Adler Studio with Rosie Perez, Phylicia Rashad and Anna Deavere Smith – said of her conservative co-host: “Politically we could not be more opposite, but I respect her tremendously. Truth is, we could not have a dialogue without Elizabeth. It’s not that we have to agree, the important thing is that we have the conversation.” The Post’s Sandra Guzman also reports Perez confessed she used to enjoy smoking pot and watching “American Idol,” which she found “hilarious.”

A rep for The View is denying a new report that staunch conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck and left-leaning Joy Behar are getting into behind-the-scenes screaming matches on the set of their ABC daytime talk show.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the animosity between the two – who have gotten into heated on-air debates about the election- “has gotten so ugly, they only speak on air or when a camera is anywhere in their vicinity.”
The paper also reports that Behar did “a vicious impression” of Hasselbeck’s appearance with Gov. Sarah Palin this past weekend.
But a View rep tells Usmagazine.com, “These fabricated rumors about alleged dissention between Elisabeth and Joy are as untrue today as they were yesterday, a week ago and when the rumor(s) first started.”
Hasselbeck a McCain supporter, and Behar, who is backing Obama, famously clashed last week after Hasselbeck claimed she was open-minded enough to once have considered voting for Obama.
Behar fired back, “Oh, come on! That’s like saying I could have voted for George Bush.”
“Are you calling me a liar, Joy?” snapped Hasselbeck before lifting her coffee cup and shoving it toward Behar.
“You want some more Barack Obama Kool-Aid or what?” she said.

Whoopi and Elisabeth get very heated and emotional discussing the “N” word. Major bleeps and crying!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck took her newborn son, Taylor Thomas, to work Monday. It was her first day back on ABC’s “The View” since going on maternity leave more than two months ago. She gave birth to Taylor Thomas at an Arizona hospital Nov. 9.
Hasselbeck and co-host Sherri Shepherd took turns holding him. He cried at first, but was generally well behaved on his first-ever live TV appearance. The camera focused on his face several times as the audience oohed and ahh-ed.
Hasselbeck, 30, joked that she calls herself “the dairy queen” because she’s breast-feeding.
“You don’t even look like you were pregnant,” Shepherd told her. “You are so tiny.”
Hasselbeck, wearing a waist-concealing dress with a floral pattern, responded: “Wear a print.”
The conservative “View” co-host and her husband, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, also have a 2-year-old daughter Grace.
Monday’s edition of the daytime chatfest included a full hour of “Hot Topics.” When the conversation turned to politics, co-host Joy Behar joked that Taylor Thomas should leave the stage because things could get uncomfortable for him.

Maternity leave is nearly over for The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who returns to the show on Monday, ABC announced.
Hasselbeck, 30, has been away since Oct. 23. She gave birth to son Taylor Thomas on Nov. 9, her second child with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Tim Hasselbeck.
The conservative co-host’s first day back at the table with Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd will be an hour-long “Hot Topics” episode, with a surprise guest, ABC reports.
“She’s never shy about expressing her view, so “Hot Topics” will be getting a whole lot hotter – especially with the upcoming presidential election,” says ABC. “Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepard joined the show shortly before Elisabeth left, so there wasn’t much opportunity for all five co-hosts to interact. Now there will be a new dynamic at the “Hot Topics” table.”

Get your split-screens ready ABC because Elisabeth Hasselbeck is returning to The View on January 7. Lizzy left the morning gabfest in October to give birth to her second child, Taylor. Hopefully in the two-month interim, she also birthed some new opinions because in her absence Sherri “I don’t know if the Earth is round†Shepherd has totally stolen her crazy crown.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck has revealed the name of her newborn son: Taylor Thomas Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” called the daytime talk show Monday to announce the name. The baby was born Friday at an Arizona hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
The 30-year-old Hasselbeck – typically chipper but sounding tired – said she was in labor for what seemed like “four or five thousand hours.”
She began a 2 1/2-month maternity leave Oct. 23. Her husband, Tim Hasselbeck, is a backup quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.
The couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Grace, has been showering Taylor with attention – and trying to feed him Goldfish crackers, she said.
Has the conservative Hasselbeck registered Taylor as a Republican?
“I delivered him on a treadmill while watching … President Bush,” she joked.
