Elizabeth Taylor says she’s home from the hospital and “feeling great.”

The 77-year-old actress sent a tweet to her fans on the Twitter micro-blogging site Tuesday, announcing she was home after a hospital stay. She thanked them “for all the love and support.”

Publicist Dick Guttman said Taylor was admitted Friday to an undisclosed hospital “for a routine visit.”

Taylor, an avid Twitter user, had sent a tweet Friday asking a friend to get her puppy past hospital security.

Elizabeth Taylor, 76, doesn’t get out much these days. But when she does leave home, she goes to the Abbey, West Hollywood’s top gay bar. The wheelchair-bound screen legend, who favors tequila shots and apple martinis, has presented the bar with a large, gold-framed portrait of herself painted in her heyday, reports Santa Barbara News-Press gossip Richard Mineards. The artwork hangs near the deejay booth, along with a brass plaque underneath. “It has become quite a shrine,” says one habitue. “Everyone here loves her. She speaks to everybody.”

A red carpet fit for a queen was laid out Tuesday for Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor, who was to celebrate her 75th birthday at a party at a Lake Las Vegas resort.

“Family and friends” of Taylor booked the Medici Cafe and Terrace for the closed party at the Ritz-Carlton, hotel spokeswoman Marina Nicola said.

The guest list remained secret, but 75 people were expected for dinner and cake at the resort, which is 17 miles east of the Las Vegas Strip.

“An official list has not been released but guests will be arriving shortly after Dame Elizabeth,” Nicola said.

Queen Elizabeth II made the British-born Taylor a dame, the equivalent of a knight, in 2000.

Taylor’s closest friends include Michael Jackson, whose spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday in a press release that he is now living in Las Vegas.

The Academy Award-winning actress, who uses a wheelchair because of back problems, last year dismissed tabloid reports that she was being treated for early Alzheimer’s disease or was gravely ill.

Taylor has won two Oscars for best actress and starred in more than 55 films, including “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “Butterfield 8,” “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “Cleopatra.”

She has been named by the American Film Institute as among the greatest female movie stars of all time.

Elizabeth Taylor “almost died” when she discovered her beloved pet chipmunk had overdosed on chocolate.

The animal-loving movie icon captured the “critter” she called Nibbles in Washington when she was 13 and looked after him for five years – even taking him to California with her.

The young Taylor let her “buddy” run free and was devastated when her pet died after eating itself through half an Easter egg.

She tells Interview magazine, “I had left a big chocolate Easter egg, opened, way up on top of a wardrobe at a house we were renting on the beach. I came charging into my room to get some dry clothes. The minute I came into the room, I’d always hear a clatter from wherever he (Nibbles) was swinging, and he’d come running up my leg. But there was no sound, there was nothing. I looked up at the wardrobe and there was the chocolate Easter egg, half gone, and there was Nibbles, dead, lying beside it with his little feet up in the air. I almost died myself. Just like chocolate is deathly bad for dogs, it is awful for all kinds of animals.”

Movie icon Elizabeth Taylor has exposed her first husband, Conrad Hilton JR, as a “cruel” drunk in a new magazine interview.

The actress was a teenager when she exchanged vows with the hotel heir in 1950 and was so smitten with the handsome socialite she studied Catholicism to be his wife.

But she admits she never took the union seriously enough and divorced Hilton, who is the uncle of Paris and Nicky Hilton’s father, nine months later – after discovering he had a drinking problem.

Revealing all in a candid new expose with Interview editor Ingrid Sischy, the actress recalls, “When I got a divorce… I never told the court why, but he was cruel. When he drank it all came out, and I hadn’t seen that before because he was on the wagon the eight months we were engaged. I didn’t have a clue. But I thought, ‘This isn’t why God put me on earth.’”

Taylor, who wed another seven times, had an inkling her first marriage wouldn’t work out as she stood before the archbishop on her big day.

She adds, “When I had to swear in front of the archbishop to be a good wife and all that stuff, I had my fingers crossed behind my back because I didn’t know if I could be a good wife.”
