EVEN though legendary rock star Elton John has his own line of fragrances, it seems like he prefers Tom Ford’s collection of scents over his own. One shopper at Neiman Marcus in Las Vegas saw John picking up Ford’s entire Private Blend line of men’s spritzes. The spy said, “He purchased all 12 of Tom Ford’s fragrances.” Perhaps John just liked Ford’s advertisements using men crotches – something the scent is said to be reminiscent of.

SIR ELTON JOHN offered to remove his trousers to raise money for charity at his post-Oscars party on Sunday. The Rocket Man was hosting an auction at the bash, with the proceeds going to Aids research – and was prepared to drop his suit pants to encourage guests to part with more cash. A quick-witted Sharon Stone – who helped raise a record $5.1 million at the party in her guise as auctioneer – admitted she wouldn’t join the singer and remove any clothing, hinting instead to her crotch-flashing performance in 1992 movie Basic Instinct. She told the crowd, “I’d do that, but you’ve seen it before.”

ELTON John seemed to be a victim of his own success Friday night at the new Soho House space on the top floor of an office building on Sunset Boulevard, where many A-listers were hanging out in the days before the Academy Awards. With the cancellation of Graydon Carter’s annual Vanity Fair party, everyone and his uncle were trying to get into Elton’s annual AIDS fund-raiser at the Pacific Design Center tonight. “And we simply don’t have any more space,” the rock icon told Page Six.

Elton was surrounded by supplicants as he stood by his spouse, David Furnish, in the penthouse overlooking all of Los Angeles.

The crowd – under light bulbs dangling from exposed steel beams and fiberglass insulation – included Soho House owner Nick Jones, NBC chief Ben Silverman, Griffin Dunne, Julian Sands, Fisher Stevens (whose “Crazy Love” was up for an Independent Spirit Award) and Miramax chief Daniel Battsek, who has three films in contention for various awards tonight.

This is the 16th year Sir Elton has hosted the fund-raiser. “I wanted redemption for the life I lived beforehand, the drugs, the drink, the loose sex, whatever,” he tells Russ Mitchell about founding his Elton John AIDS Foundation today in an interview on “CBS News Sunday Morning.”
On Thursday, Madonna was checking out the SoHo House space as a possible venue for the party she’s throwing tonight with her kabbalah cohort, Demi Moore. But Variety reports they’ll hold it at the home of Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary.

“It gives the A-list Vanity Fair crowd someplace to go to,” a source tells Variety. “It’ll probably be pared down to where it’s 85 percent talent, not a lot of suits.”

The star quotient should be equally stellar at the super-exclusive soiree pop icon Prince is throwing at his new house in Benedict Canyon. Think the likes of Tom Cruise and Will Smith. And Penelope Cruz is said to be hosting a party for fellow Spaniard and likely Oscar winner Javier Bardem at the nightclub Villa.

This could also be a bigger year than usual for the Governors Ball, held immediately after the Oscars ceremony in a tent outside. Usually the A-list stars race through the black-tie crowd on their way to the Vanity Fair bash. This year they’ll probably linger and sample some of Wolfgang Puck’s cooking.

Elton John said Wednesday that he owns a photo of two naked girls taken by award-winning photographer Nan Goldin that was seized by police at a British gallery over concerns it amounted to child pornography.

John confirmed ownership of “Klara and Edda Belly-Dancing” in a statement on his Web site. He said it is among 149 images comprising Goldin’s “Thanksgiving” installation.

Northumbria police said the photo was taken from the BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, northeastern England. They confirmed Tuesday that an image had been taken from an exhibit “to assess whether or not an offense had been committed.”

Both Goldin and the gallery have declined to comment. The gallery alerted police to Goldin’s photo on the eve of an exhibition featuring her work that opened Friday.

“The photograph exists as part of the installation as a whole and has been widely published and exhibited throughout the world,” said the 60-year-old rocker who has a home in Atlanta.

“It can be found in the monograph of Ms. Goldin’s works entitled `The Devil’s Playground’ (Phaidon, 2003), has been offered for sale at Sotheby’s New York in 2002 and 2004, and has previously been exhibited in Houston, London, Madrid, New York, Portugal, Warsaw and Zurich without any objections of which we are aware.”

John purchased the “Thanksgiving” installation in 1999, his statement said.

Goldin’s frank and often sexually explicit work has drawn critical acclaim, as well as police attention.

In 2001, London police demanded that the Saatchi Gallery remove one of Goldin’s photographs, saying it was indecent. The gallery refused, and officials later backed down, saying there was no realistic prospect of securing a conviction in the case.

Sir Elton John and Madonna have finally called a truce to their bitter three-year feud.

The row erupted after the bespectacled singer publicly accused the Material Girl of lip-synching on her tours during a foul mouthed outburst at a London awards ceremony in 2004.

He denounced Madonna’s Reinvention tour at the Q Awards, declaring, “Madonna, best f**king live act? F**k off. Since when has lip-synching been live? That’s me off her f**king Christmas card list but do I give a toss? No.”

But the superstars put an end to the fall out with an onstage embrace at Wednesday’s GQ Men of the Year Awards, which John was hosting.

He introduced Madonna by declaring their row was over: “This is a moment you thought you would you would never see.”

But John couldn’t resist one last jibe, revealing that after their dispute he had “written a grovelling apology and offered to join the Kabbalah”.

For the ninth consecutive year, Sir Elton John and David Furnish will open their Windsor home to their friends to raise millions for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and their fight against AIDS on Thursday 28th June 2007. This ravishing charity event is awaited as one of the highlights of the London season.

A lot of celebrities are expected at the event to support Sir Elton John and his fight against AIDS.

The jewellery and watches company supports the Elton John Aids Foundation through a special “Elton John” watch collection. For many years now Chopard has been active in supporting medical research, and has given aid to numerous foundations. When Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele met Sir Elton John ten years ago, he immediately approached her with the idea that Chopard could take an active role in his foundation’s fight against AIDS. The most original and effective way for Chopard to help was to create and promote a series of watches, designed to reflect Elton John’s style. Together they have made this a reality. The Elton John Watch Collection is available at the Chopard Boutiques worldwide. As part of its continuous support, Chopard also co-hosted Elton John’s Oscars Party in February, and has been the partner of the wonderful White Tie & Tiara Ball for seven years. Sir Elton John personally accepts no royalties from the sales of these watches.

David Furnish is desperate for Sir Elton John to give up touring so they spend more time together.

The music legend has been performing a gruelling schedule of gigs in Las Vegas and shows no sign of slowing down.

But Furnish believes it is time for the 60-year-old to relax more and end the punishing round of live dates.

“We’d never want to change each other but it would be so much nicer to spend more time together,” the 44-year-old film-maker tells Closer magazine.

“Some close friends of ours are going through difficult times with their health and it makes you realise you have to make the most of each day. I’d rather have more days with him than without him.”

Elton John is getting heat from the Caribbean island of Tobago. The rocker is supposed to play at the Plymouth Jazz Festival next month, but church officials want him banned, saying his presence could make locals want to sample homosexuality. Philip Isaac, archdeacon of Trinidad and Tobago, told the London Standard: “His visit to the island can open the country to be tempted towards pursuing his lifestyle.” Festival reps insist the Rocket Man will perform.
