Faith Hill’s beautiful face has adorned covers of CDs and magazines before, but for the first time ever she’s posing in a bikini.

What gave her the bravery? Pilates.

“I could bend in ways I haven’t been able to since I was a teenager,” the Nashville-based star tells Shape magazine for its December issue (on sale Nov. 10). “My husband [Tim McGraw] loves it!”

Her new routine is done with an instructor, and comes after years of waffling when it comes to working out.

“I was always very athletic, playing basketball and softball and running track,” she says.

Lifestyle Change
“But in my 20s and 30s, I’d go through phases with exercise, working out for four weeks before a big tour or video shoot and not doing much afterward. Then I had three kids [with McGraw, daughters Gracie, 11; Maggie, 10; and Audrey, 6] and turned 40, so I decided to make a lifestyle change.”

There was another consideration: knee surgery in January forced her to cease exercising for six months. “I had never gone that long without doing something,” she says. “I was not happy.”

In July she and McGraw began a daily routine that included four miles on the elliptical, light weight lifting, crunches and push-ups.

“I found I slept better, had more energy and was stronger,” says Hill, who then increased her regime to include Pilates classes three times a week.

“It was so hard, but ultimately so worth it. My core is much stronger, and my arms are more toned. In fact, wearing a bikini on a magazine cover is my 41st birthday present to myself.”

Faith Hill recently had surgery to repair an old knee injury but isn’t letting up on her busy schedule.

“Who has time to slow down?” the country star said in a statement. “Doctors had told me to stay off my feet for a bit and now I’m following their rehab program. I intend to be back better and stronger.”

Hill, 40, underwent an operation called chondroplasty to realign her kneecap, which she first injured playing softball in high school.

Still, the singer is pushing right ahead with her plans to participate in the MusiCares tribute to Aretha Franklin next month and to continue recording a Christmas album, due for release later this year.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have become the victims of burglars in the Hollywood Hills.

Thieves broke into the singers’ Los Angeles mansion over the weekend and stole an unspecified amount of money, according to police reports.

McGraw and Hill, who divide their time living between Los Angeles and Nashville, Tennessee, were not at home when the burglary took place. The crime was discovered after a person arrived at the mansion on Monday morning and called police.

Authorities are investigating the crime but had no immediate suspects as WENN went to press.

Faith Hill insists she’s no Kanye West. The country music superstar says she was just joking when cameras showed her screaming ‘WHAT?’ in apparent anger when she lost the female vocalist of the year award to newcomer Carrie Underwood at the Country Music Association Awards on Monday night in Nashville.

‘The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me,’ Hill said in a statement. ‘For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving Female Vocalist of The Year.’

Media outlets and blogs zeroed in on Hill’s reaction after Underwood’s name was announced at the ceremony. While other nominees _ Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Martina McBride _ gave the typical gracious loser smile, Hill, who was standing backstage, turned to the camera and shouted ‘WHAT?’

Although her voice could not be heard, it was clear from her lips what she said. She looked visibly upset and then it looked as if she was storming off. The incident has been replayed endlessly on sites like YouTube.com.

However, Hill said it was all a joke, and her manager, Gary Borman, echoed that: ‘I’ve worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being’s success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she’s incapable of such actions,’ he said in a statement.

‘She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful after.’

Underwood also didn’t take it seriously, according to her publicist, Jessie Schmidt, who said that Hill spoke to Underwood after the show and that the two were fine.

Underwood, the 2005 ‘American Idol’ champ, has become a triple platinum success since releasing her debut album late last year. Hill is a longtime darling of country music with crossover pop appeal.

This is the second time in less than a week that an awards show loss has resulted in an (apparent) on-camera freakout by a loser. Last week, Kanye West stormed the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards and interrupted the speech of the winners, claiming his video deserved the honor.
