It looks as though George Clooney’s London party last week to raise funds for the victims of war-torn Dafur was one not to be forgotten — or perhaps forgotten at least for some.

The star-studded soiree was saturated with A-list celebs including Eva Mendes, Matt Damon, Guy Ritchie, Scarlett Johansson, Bono and Claudia Schiffer. But according to insiders, it was host Clooney and his good friend Cindy Crawford that closed the party down well into the wee hours.

The 42-year-old former supermodel was snapped sneaking into her hotel around 4 a.m. Friday morning, looking particularly worse for wear. (photo above)

Hmmm, one can’t help but wonder how much money was spent on beverages when it could have gone to the cause at hand…

Apparently, George Clooney may have figured out there’s no girlfriend like an old girlfriend. The bedroom-eyed Oscar winner has quietly circled back to Krista Allen, friends tell us.

Their on-and-off long-running romance began in 2002 when George cast Krista in “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.” (This was after his marriage to Talia Balsam and linkages with Kelly Preston, Celine Balitran, Charlize Theron, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Lynn Siebel and Mariella Frostrup. But who’s counting?)
George and Krista dated for close to two years, till Allen broke it off in March 2004. He moved on to model Lisa Snowden, but then he and Krista tried again in 2006. After that, he dated Sarah Larson, cocktail waitress and “Fear Factor” winner, for most of a year.

Throughout, says a friend, “Krista has always been there for him. She admits she just can’t get over him.”
And something about Krista brings him back. “George really loves her,” says the source.

A relationship with Krista, 37, would mean a ready-made family for George, 47, who once vowed that he wouldn’t remarry or have children by the time he was 50. Krista has an 11-year-old son, Jake, with production manager Justin Moritt.

But it may not be an issue. Says the source, “George adores Krista’s son.”

Reps for the two declined to comment.

Meanwhile, George has been shooting in Puerto Rico, where Hurricane Omar slowed down production of “The Men Who Stare at Goats.” He plays a former member of the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions. Next up for the actor is “Up in the Air,” in which he plays a “career transition counselor” who’s looking to accumulate 1 million frequent flier miles and land a job at a mysterious management company called MythTech.

George Clooney and Cindy Crawford’s good looks can set pulses racing wherever they are.

So it’s not surprising that gorgeous George and his sexy supermodel friend holiday where all the beautiful people go.

Cindy and her husband Rande Gerber were entertaining their actor friend, who recently split up with former cocktail waitress Sarah Larson, aboard their yacht off the south of France.

The veteran cover girl looked sensational as ever as she took a dip in the Med near the shores of St Tropez.

She spent the day swimming, jet skiing and generally looking fantastic in her skimpy, black bikini.

But George, who had initially greeted Rande with a hug after jumping aboard, preferred to have a quiet read of a newspaper while soaking up the sun.

Long before Matt Damon took on the role of second-generation grifter Linus Caldwell in “Ocean’s Eleven,” Mark Wahlberg had a shot at the part and turned it down. Looking back at it, Mark doesn’t regret his decision to skip what turned out to be a blockbuster franchise. In fact, he told Zoo magazine, he’s better off not having to pretend he enjoyed working on the films.

When Zoo asked the actor if he really refused to work in the “Ocean’s” films, he said, “Yeah — and it was well worth it,” adding, “the second one sucked!”

Apparently Mark’s no fan of the Hollywood backslapping that goes on when the material doesn’t merit it.

“People tell George Clooney it’s great, but we all know it sucked,” the “Boogie Nights” star said. “I made two bad movies instead — ‘Planet of the Apes’ and ‘The Truth About Charlie’ — but doing that was better than sitting with Brad (Pitt) and George, telling the press how great everybody is! ‘We were in Europe, George was funny, then we had some wine …’ — that’s not for me.”

Lest George and the rest of the “Ocean’s” gang take offense, Mark explained, “I do love those guys, but I had to step out on my own.”

Our source claims Clooney “has been dating a woman in her mid-30s” for months now, even before he split with Larson. The source also claims Clooney knew he was going to leave Larson months ago, and let her do interviews and some modeling to “get her a career” before the split. Larson also got some new breasts. A rep for Clooney, who’s vacationing at his house in Lake Como, said, “How does one as public as George secretly date anyone?”

Dating one of Hollywood’s biggest stars didn’t change George Clooney’s down-to-earth ex Sarah Larson, a source close to her tells PEOPLE.

“She’s a beautiful, amazing, compassionate human being who was thrown overnight into the middle of the media monster and has done an amazing job at staying true to herself and her family and friends,” the friend says.

On Wednesday sources close to the couple verified that the pair, who dated for about a year, had parted paths.

“Yes, it’s confirmed,” one source says. “They’ve split.”

Asked about the report, Clooney’s rep, Stan Rosenfield, would only say: “We do not comment on George’s personal life.”

Clooney, 47, and the onetime Fear Factor winner, 29, came out as a couple at the Venice and Deauville film festivals in September 2007. That same month, Larson suffered a broken foot when the two were injured in a motorcycle accident in Weehawken, N.J.

Larson was the first girlfriend to accompany Clooney to the Oscars, stoking rumors of an impending engagement that Clooney quickly shot down.

No word yet on who, if anyone, Clooney will be bringing to the premiere of his next project, the Coen brothers movie Burn After Reading, co-starring pal Brad Pitt, which is due out in September.
