A psychiatric patient who has allegedly threatened Halle Berry’s life has escaped from a mental institution.

Robert Hoskins, who has reportedly vowed to “slit her throat”, managed to evade security at an undisclosed mental hospital last week and is now on the run.

He previously made a similar threat to Madonna and was shot by the singer’s bodyguard in 1995 after he was caught trespassing on the Material Girl’s property.

Berry filed legal papers earlier this week asking a judge to permit her to relocate from Los Angeles to her French fiance Olivier Martinez’s home country with her daughter Nahla.

Her request to move was prompted by Hoskins’ escape and the recent imprisonment of Richard Franco, another man who was accused of stalking the actress last summer.

Franco was sentenced to 386 days behind bars and five years probation in January after pleading no contest to stalking. He is also banned from going anywhere near Berry until 2022.

Her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, who is also the father of her three-year-old child, has opposed the move and a hearing on the matter is pending.

The actress also sought to ban Aubry from contacting Nahla last month after former nanny Alliance Kamdem accused the male model of shoving her against a door while she was holding the child. The former couple has been locked in a bitter battle over Nahla since they split in 2010.

Halle Berry has sparked rumours she’s set to make Olivier Martinez her third husband after she was spotted sporting an emerald ring on her wedding finger.

The Oscar winner has been dating the French hunk after meeting him on the set of her upcoming film Dark Tide last year, and now the pair has prompted speculation they intend to become man and wife.

Berry was spotted enjoying a drink in Malibu, California on New Year’s Day while wearing a huge emerald and gold ring on her engagement finger.

A representative for the star had failed to comment on the rumors.

Berry has been married twice before – she was wed to baseball player David Justice for three years until they split in 1996, and then to Eric Benet from 2001 to 2003.

The star has one daughter, Nahla, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

I’ve been in the business for more than twenty years, and you decide now, at this particular time, that I’m the sexiest woman alive? Come on. I mean, you couldn’t go with the Bond-girl year? You didn’t like the orange bikini? I liked the orange bikini. That would have been a pretty good year. Or what about the Monster’s Ball year? That was a sexy moment. Couldn’t you have packaged that up with some list of the best movie sex scenes ever? That would have been very easy, very magaziney. But 2008? Well, I don’t know exactly what it means, but being forty-two and having just had a baby, I think I’ll take it. There are billions of women on the planet, but let’s just say for shits and giggles that I am the sexiest woman alive. First, I would have to thank all the people who made it happen. I would thank the good folks at Esquire for thinking outside the box — even if those folks are just eight editors wearing competing seventy-five-dollar button-down shirts, swinging themselves around in cheap desk chairs in some windowless conference room somewhere above Manhattan. I’d also have to thank my “team,” the ones who make the magic happen — my hair designer, my stylist, my makeup artist, and my beloved trainer. Berry – whose marriages to baseball legend David Justice and musician Eric Benet were so bad she said she’d never wed again – has been sporting a huge diamond engagement band on her left ring finger. She opted against selling off pictures of her baby daughter to the highest bidder. But at last, the very first photos of Halle Berry with Nahla Ariela Aubry have been released!

The 41-year-old “Catwoman” actress was seen carrying her little girl around in Los Angeles on Thursday (July 17) – with her mother, Judith Ann, nearby to help out with her granddaughter.

Nahla, which means “Honeybee” in Arabic, was born on Sunday March 16th, 2008.

She’s the first child for the Oscar-winning actress and her 32-year-old model boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry.
