Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking forward to turning 30 – but if she could turn back the clock, she would have spent more time showing off her figure.
“I wish I had been nude from the time I was 12 until I was 28. I looked great!” the Ghost Whisperer actress, 29, tells Health magazine in its September issue.
“I so wish I had listened to my mom and grandma when I was 18 and would complain about some little tiny bump or feeling bloated,” says the star, who is engaged to Scottish actor Ross McCall. “I used to scoff and say, ‘No, I feel fat today!’ Now the joke’s on me.”
Hewitt found herself defending her figure last year when several Web sites criticized her weight after she was pictured vacationing in a bikini.
These days, she’s spreading some body image love to her younger peers. “I want to tell all young girls to walk around in bikinis all summer, because there will be that one day in your twenties when you’ll eat a hamburger and actually see the hamburger on the side of your leg,” she jokes.
The next milestone for the actress is turning 30 this February – and she can barely wait. “I’m so excited! It’s my dream age,” she says. “I don’t know why but, literally since my 12th birthday I’ve wanted to turn 30.”

After being scrutinized last winter for photos that revealed a less-than-svelte bikini body, Jennifer Love Hewitt implored “girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist” to “put on a bikini — put it on and stay strong.”
That sentiment of size acceptance is what is making her sudden 18-pound weight loss headline news.
The actress is on the cover of this week’s Us Weekly, where she flaunts losing 18 pounds in 10 weeks.
How’d she do it? “I am in a pretty good workout regimen that I like, so it inspired me to keep it up,” Hewitt told Us.
Why did she do it? Her trainer Steve Sant’Angelo told the magazine it didn’t have to do with looking “good in that dress.”
One magazine insider says that might be true, but good publicity is also behind it.
“The moment those pictures broke, a light bulb went off over the heads of many magazine editors — ‘How long until the weight-loss story?’ was the question. Weight loss always sells on the newsstands, and let’s face it, we wouldn’t have much reason to talk about (Hewitt) if she hadn’t done this.”

American actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and her Scottish fiancé Ross McCall brought some festive cheer to Los Angeles’ poor this week by lending a hand at a charity mission event.
The newly-engaged pair – who began dating in January 2006, after Band Of Brothers actor Ross made an appearance on Jennifer’s hit TV series Ghost Whisperer – spent Christmas Eve helping to serve 3,000 hot dinners to the city’s homeless and needy men, women and children. More than 600 youngsters also received donated gifts.
“There are so many… people on the streets of our city, but when I’m here I get to see the smiles of the children and the great food for everyone,” said the 28-year-old actress. “I come to give something back but invariably I get more blessing than I give.”
Also joining in the annual event were mum-to-be Melissa Joan Hart and her husband Mark Wilkerson, and Little House On The Prairie star Melissa Gilbert.

Following her recent bikini scandal, Jennifer Love Hewitt is making headlines again in the blogosphere.
Sites were buzzing today that Hewitt, 28, and her fiancé, Scottish actor Ross McCall, 32, are expecting their first child in June.
But her rep tells Usmagazine.com: “Jennifer is not pregnant.”
Still, all seems well for Hewitt and McCall, who recently gave her an antique engagement ring. They were all smiles as they headed to a holiday party at Morton’s Steak House in Burbank, California, on Sunday.
