Critics of Scientology say they plan another theatrical protest against the church – this time targeting its intelligence division.

The anti-Scientology group known as Anonymous says its July 12 “Spy vs. Sci” demonstration will be held in “cities all around the world,” according to a press release.

Anonymous members – who include former Scientologists – are focusing on alleged “abuses” of the church’s intelligence agency, known as the Office of Special Affairs (OSA), says the release. It asks, “Why does something that describes itself as a religion need an intelligence agency that aggressively persecutes critics?”

According to the group, the OSA is charged with administering “justice and punishment” for the controversial faith, whose members include Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. The group charges that critics are “targeted, harassed, threatened and intimidated in an attempt to silence or punish them.”
“Most Scientologists are unaware of the functions of the OSA and accept what their leaders tell them about it,” says the release. “However, there is a growing body of evidence that OSA agents operate to attack perceived enemies by using infiltration, bribery, burglary and blackmail, in addition to threats, intimidation, assaults and worse.”

Due to fear of reprisals, Anonymous members are reluctant to give their names. One organizer, who goes by the nom de guerre of “93,” tells us the church has sent warning letters to “our more public members” calling them “‘terrorists.’ They’re attempting to stamp out our constitutional right to free speech.”
Scientology critic Mark Ebner charges that “armed private detectives hired by Scientology have invaded peaceful rallies.” A spokeswoman for the church didn’t return an e-mail seeking comment.

Last month in London, Sydney, Toronto and New York, Anonymous sponsored a pirate-theme protest that parodied Scientology’s private navy, the Sea Org. Or, as the demonstrators, called it, “Sea Aaargh.”

According to 93, protesters at the “Spy vs. Sci” rally will don costumes of characters like Austin Powers, James Bond and Modesty Blaise. What about that actor who starred in the “Mission: Impossible” movies?

“Nobody wants to be Tom Cruise,” she says.

Miley Cyrus isn’t letting her semi-topless Vanity Fair photo scandal slow her down!

In between concerts and filming Hannah Montana, she may also be gearing up to record a duet with John Travolta.

“Johnny may sing [a duet] with Miley,” Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston told E! at the Step Up Women’s Network 2008 Inspiration Awards in Beverly Hills on Friday.

Cyrus and Travolta are both voicing characters in the animated film Bolt.

Also soon-to-be-in the spotlight? Preston and Travolta’s 8-year-old daughter, Ella. She’ll appear with her parents and Robin Williams in a Disney flick called Old Dogs.

“She’d been wanting to do something now for the last few years and would say, ‘Dad can I be in your movie?’ ‘Mom, can I be in your movie?’” Preston told Usmagazine.com. “This script came along and she took great direction from the director and she has her own little character going that she created herself and she plays someone very similar to herself.”

But don’t expect to see Ella in too many movies, even though Preston says she “absolutely” supports her daughter following in her acting footsteps, “if that’s what she chooses.

“I said, ‘Do you want to do another movie?’” Preston told Us. “She said, ‘I want to take a break for at least a year mom.’”

Preston also claims she’s “not at all” a stage mom.

“I would go to work with her as an actor but mom on the set,” Preston said. “There were scenes that she had by herself and I would be the mom with her on the set.”

JOHN Travolta has an 8-year-old daughter, but it looks as if he’s the one obsessed with “The Little Mermaid.” The pudgy “Pulp Fiction” star sat front row with daughter Ella at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on 46th Street Saturday, where he sang along to the show’s tunes, including “Under the Sea.” Afterward, he brought 26 of Ella’s pals backstage and took pictures with the cast. “He was touching all the costumes, he looked amazed,” said our spy. “He said he was way, way into the show. He stayed backstage for a while.” Said Travolta’s rep: “His daughter loves the show, so he knows it well.”

It was an emotional evening for the attendees at the G’Day USA: Australia Week 2008 event at Lincoln Center last night in light of fellow Aussie Heath Ledger’s passing. While many were simply at a loss for words, John Travolta, who knew Heath, offered a touching tribute to the fallen star.

“I would give back all my awards to have him back. This whole evening has been really hard for me. This is a bad situation,” John told PageSix.com. When asked if there were any signs that Heath was troubled, John said, “As far as I know, he was on top of the world. This craft can make life harsher on you.”

Can you believe his year marks the 30th anniversary of “Grease”? Stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John were reunited at last night’s Australia.com Black Tie Gala, at the Renaissance Hotel at Hollywood and Highland. The sold-out event, which salutes Australians who have made “significant contributions in their industries and for excellence in promoting Australia in the United States.” 1,200 guests, including Kylie Minogue, Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart enjoyed an Australian dinner at the event. Wonder if Olivia and John did a little crooning as well?

JOHN Travolta has been dropped from the “Dallas” movie after being promoted as the project’s anchor for more than two years.
Insiders tell Page Six that Travolta, who was just nominated for a Golden Globe for donning a fat suit for his drag role in “Hairspray,” was “let go about two weeks ago. He had the role of J.R. Ewing taken from him and given to Ben Stiller.”

However, a rep for Stiller denies the comic actor accepted or was offered the part.

“John was given a nice seven-figure ‘gift’ to go away quietly,” our source added. “He also got five family members roles in the movie, and they aren’t going to be in it now, either.”

A friend of Travolta confirmed, “He is not doing the movie. They’ve gone in a different direction than was originally intended. I don’t know about any ‘gift,’ and I don’t think the family member thing is correct.”

A rep for Travolta declined to comment.

This is just the latest chapter in the troubled “Dallas” saga. The first big upheaval occurred last year when Shirley MacLaine (who was to play Miss Ellie), Luke Wilson (Bobby Ewing) and Jennifer Lopez (Sue Ellen) were dropped from the cast. Meg Ryan and Matthew McConaughey’s names were then brought up, but neither was signed.

Director Robert Luketic was also let go in favor of “Bend It Like Beckham” helmer Gurinder Chadha, and the budget was downsized from an original $65 million to “something way less,” the source said.

Producers may be looking for a Stiller-like talent to take Travolta’s role because the word is that “Dallas” will now – if it ever gets made – be a “comedic, behind-the-scenes” movie instead of the originally intended drama.

The change was made last year after distributor 20th Century Fox conducted focus groups on “Dallas” with small Midwestern audiences. Producers decided the picture needed “more laughs” and called for an entirely new, slapstick script and was rewritten as “a ‘show-within-a-show’ comedy,” like the Nicole Kidman bomb “Bewitched.”

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox declined to comment.
