Jordin Sparks is Proud to be a Virgin But Finds Always Being a Good Girl Difficult

Jordin Sparks has made no secret of the fact that she’s a virgin and plans to stay that way until her wedding night, a personal pledge that was reinforced backstage at Sunday’s American Music Awards after the songstress was presented with an un-televised award as Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. The 18-year-old was truly flattered when we gave her credit for her chastity pledge and for setting herself apart from so many other trouble-makers in Tinseltown, saying a humble thank you multiple times.
“The role model tag has definitely been thrust on me and that’s something I don’t take lightly,” Sparks said.
The “American Idol” alum reminisced that it was just two years ago that she was sitting at home as an aspiring singer watching these very awards, but felt that there was no young performer she could really look up to as a figure of inspiration.
“That really motivated me. Being a role model is fun but I find it difficult,” Sparks admitted. “I have to constantly watch myself, watch my mouth and who I hang out with.”
Hmmm, perhaps that’s why Sparks has opted to take a very safe date with her when she hits the road again soon — her grandmother.

19 Entertainment/Jive Records recording artist, Jordin Sparks is riding a wave of success with her latest Top 10 staple, “No Air,” a duet with her label-mate Chris Brown, jumping from the No.7 position to No.2 on the Pop Singles Chart this week. The song has remained in the Top 10 for over one month on the heels of her previous No.1 hit, “Tattoo.”
Most recently, Sparks and Brown performed the duet on a segment of American Idol. Sparks was surprised during the broadcast when a few of her fans along with Ryan Seacrest presented the 2007 American Idol winner with plaques commemorating her gold-certified album, Jordin Sparks; and two platinum single plaques marking digital single sales exceeding one million each for “No Air” and “Tattoo.”
The 18-year old star is set to open up for the highly anticipated Alicia Keys “As I Am” domestic tour, which kicks off on April 19th in Hampton, VA.

Following in the footsteps of “Tattoo,” which is currently in the top ten on Billboard’s Pop 100 singles list, Jordin Sparks’ second single “No Air,” a duet with labelmate Chris Brown, is already getting major radio support across the country. “No Air” is the second music video for Jordin Sparks who released her self-titled album on November 20, 2007. The video was directed by Chris Robinson and shot in New York.
The official “No Air” video is coming soon! Stay tuned…

Game a Family Affair for Jordin Sparks

Jordin Sparks probably couldn’t have picked a better set of circumstances for her first Super Bowl.
First off, the “American Idol” champ was selected to sing the national anthem. Then, her favorite team, the New York Giants – and the former team of her retired football player dad, Phillippi Sparks – was playing in the big game. Finally, the game was held at the University of Phoenix stadium – just a few miles away from her home.
“When they approached me to sing at the Super Bowl, I was like, ‘Yeah I want to sing at the Super Bowl – are you crazy?’” Sparks said as she got glammed up for her performance Sunday. “I’m very very very happy.”
And that was before her dad’s old team stunned the New England Patriots 17-14.
“You couldn’t ask for a more fitting story,” said Phillippi Sparks, who retired from the Giants in 2001. “How could it have been better aligned?”
Jordin Sparks, 18, had her family nearby as she got ready. Her father offered encouragement, and her mom Jodi lent her the jewelry she wore wear with her Dolce & Gabbana sleeveless dress. Her grandparents helped get her clothes together, and her younger brother kept her company.
“Growing up around (my dad) was really cool,” said Sparks. “I became a huge (football) freak … I have always wished that I could have played and I can’t.”
