Katy Perry has dropped out of what would’ve been her first public appearance since her divorce from husband Russell Brand after it was announced that she wouldn’t be appearance at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards. The news was a blow for the organisers of the event, as the pop star has been nominated for seven awards, with a good chance of taking home the gong in all of them.

Perry and British comedian and actor Brand got married some 14 months ago after first beginning to date in September 2009; at the time the marriage was viewed with more than a little surprise, with Brand known for his exploits with the fairer sex and alleged history of nymphomania. However the couple seemed happy, before their busy work schedules started to mean they were spending less and less time together, with Brand attempting to crack Hollywood and Perry setting off on a mammoth world tour that lasted months. The end came on December 30th 2011 with Brand filing for divorce.

Addressing her fans on Twitter, Rolling Stone reports that the star wrote “Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! Katycats.” It’s the first message she’s given the public since the split, an earlier Tweet saying “Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that No One speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family.” Brand has been caught several times looking gloomy around London.

Rumors continue to swirl that Russell Brand and his wife Katy Perry decided against signing a pre-nuptial agreement before their shock separation last week. The British comedian filed for divorce after just 14 months of marriage, with attention now turning to the potentially huge settlement involved, reports E! Online. During an interview with the New York Magazine last year, Brand spoke of his love for the Fireworks singer before their wedding day, revealing, “I want to make our wedding just about me and her loving each other and we’re getting married in front of our friends and family and keeping it normal, so it ain’t selling the pictures, ain’t doing no prenup”.

The couple’s wedding in India was shrouded in secrecy and Russell stuck to his word and refused to sell the photographs. With this in mind, it is likely that the pair also steered clear of a pre-nuptial agreement – which could prove hugely costly for Perry in particular.

Though the comedian has a strong following in the UK and U.S, his wife’s popularity and wealth is on another level and she is reportedly worth over $40 million. Californian law states that without a pre-nuptial agreement, the pair must split their wealth and assets 50/50. Forbes magazine’s Dororthy Pomerantz notes, “The vast majority of her money is coming from touring.She’s also really smart, she makes a ton of money from her endorsements and she’s even launched a perfume line [called Purr] and that’s all a great source of money too, but most of her money comes from being on tour”. In terms of Russell’s wealth, Pomerantz explains, “If you look in the last year.his biggest film was Arthur, he’s got books and other performances.I would give a generous estimate that he made between $6 million to $8 million the past year, which is a drop in the bucket”.

As for assets, the Hollywood couple reportedly have a $6.5 million mansion together in Los Angeles. The divorce is likely to echo that of Mel Gibson’s from wife Robyn

It looks like Katy Perry (above) and Travis McCoy are back together after splitting in December. The Gym Class Heroes frontman flew to south Florida a day early specifically to see the “I Kissed a Girl” singer’s show in Ft. Lauderdale, and Perry popped by McCoy’s room at the Clevelander in South Beach after his group performed at the hotel’s reopening bash on Thursday. Says a spy: “She sneaked into the hotel unnoticed and went straight to his room for a few hours before heading back out undetected by other guests.” A rep for Perry did not return our calls.

Pop newcomer Katy Perry was left red-faced at a charity concert in Canada, when her tight-fitting dress broke on stage.

The I Kissed A Girl singer suffered a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ and revealed rather too much to the audience when her breasts slipped out of her figure-hugging gown.

Perry, 24, was performing at the Fashion Cares fundraiser for AIDS charities in Toronto on Saturday when the fashion mishap occurred.

After throwing herself to the ground during an energetic performance of her new single Hot N’ Cold, Perry soon found her assets struggling for release.

As she knelt one stage beside her guitarist, her halterneck strap pinged off one side of her satin dress, causing it to slip down and reveal her nipples.

Those in the audience were also give a glimpse of the gusset of her white opaque tights.

After realising her overexposure, an embarrassed Perry rushed off stage to fix her dress before returning and carrying on the performance like any consummate professional.

Her performance in Canada came just two days after she hosted the MTV Music Europe Awards in Liverpool.

During the show, she performed her number one hit I Kissed A Girl and made an impressive 10 costume changes.

She also revealed her surprising love for the Antiques Roadshow, admitting it would be her dream job to host it.

Yesterday, she announced her first world tour, with plans to perform in London, Paris, Vancouver, Amsterdam and a host of cities in her native U.S. next year.
