Kelly Clarkson has been given the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, traditionally one of the biggest TV events around the globe and considered a huge honor for any performer to be asked. Previous singers of the anthem have included Dianna Ross, Mariah Carey and Harry Connick Jr; however for just as many glittering performances there’ve been, the event has often wound up the subject of controversy.

Last year’s performer Christina Aguilera sang the lyrics incorrectly whilst singing her rendition, using the words “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming” instead of “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.” There were also reports of lip syncing by Whitney Houston when she performed in 1991, with Jennifer Hudson facing similar accusations in 2005. Garth Brooks almost didn’t appear for the 1993 event after network bosses initially refused to show a clip of his forthcoming video at the time ‘We Shall Be Free’ owing to what they perceived to be disturbing imagery – they changed their mind at the last minute.

Clarkson’s people haven’t confirmed the news but it has been reported by Rolling Stone magazine. She’ll be joining an all-star cast as Madonna performs during the half time show with M.I.A and Nicki Minaj also expected to feature.

TMI, Kelly! And … ill!

When Kelly Clarkson says she’ll “talk about anything” she’s not kidding.

The first “American Idol” dished a bit too much recently about her health and personal hygiene — including her tendency to use her shower to go tinkle.
“Anyone who says they don’t is lying,” she tells Blender magazine.

As if that wasn’t more than you want to know, the pop starlet also reveals she inspects the tissue after she’s blown her nose to see what color comes out.
“If you have a cold you have to check, to see how sick you are!” Clarkson explained.

“I’ll talk about anything!” she says, adding, “I do not lie. Ever. I will tell my girlfriend if she looks fat in her jeans.”

The songstress, however, did draw the line at the magazine’s questions about some bodily functions, including a query about the last time she had sex.
“I’m not telling you that. But mama didn’t raise no ho,” the Texas-born crooner said.

What happened to the open book policy, Kelly?

Don’t expect to see Kelly Clarkson with a baby bump any time soon.

“Oh, my God, I have no desire,” the American Idol winner, 26, tells USA Today. “I would not be a good mother.

“I mean, I love being an aunt to my niece and nephew,” she continues. “And I used to want to, like, adopt 10 kids — because I had friends who were adopted, and I thought that was the coolest thing, to be chosen. But…my job is too selfish.”

Clarkson (whose next album, All I Ever Wanted, hits stores tomorrow) is currently single — and happy about it.

“I went to see He’s Just Not That Into You the other night, and honestly, you walk away from that movie feeling so glad that you’re single,” she says.

“I went with friends who are my backup singers on the road, and have their own group, and we were like, where do we even meet people when you’re working so much?” she goes on. “I mean, we travel with a bunch of married men! And I love working; I can’t see myself not doing this.”

Although if she met the right person, she would consider saying “I Do.” (A change of heart since a 2007 Elle interview in which she proclaimed she’s “not keen on marriage.”)

“I’m not against it. If I found a guy who could handle my job, that would be cool,” she says. “But I’ve dated a couple of guys who were awesome, and the celebrity part of my life and the traveling part are hard to get around.

“You never get to see each other, especially if you’re both musicians,” adds Clarkson, who once dated singer/songwriter — and touring partner– Graham Colton.

Clarkson also tells the newspaper she hasn’t let fame change her.

“It would be easy for me to go, ‘Whatever, I’ll be a fembot.’ But I have a big fear of change, or negative change, anyway,” she says. “I’m basically the same person I was when I won Idol, or when I was 10.

“Maybe it sounds cheesy, but in a world that is not normal, my goal is to continue doing what I love and feeling good about it. That’s it.”

During a Mediabistro panel dinner the other night focusing on the difference between men’s and women’s magazines, Elle’s Alexandra Postman took a swipe at the “American Idol” star. Postman talked about choosing celebrities who create style and trends for Elle’s covers. She then added, “We also have run Kelly Clarkson, but only because she sells copies.”

Kelly Clarkson has seemed committed to shedding her good-girl image since she stepped off the “American Idol” stage, and the reporting surrounding her latest habits only serve to prove that.

According to a close source who spoke to Us Weekly, the Grammy-winning pop star enjoys walking around her home in the buff, no matter the circumstances. That would include not just when close friends are around, but even when her home is “filled with strangers for photo shoots or fittings,” reports the magazine.

Why? “I just really like being naked,” the “American Idol” star tells visitors with an apologetic shrug, according to the magazine.
