Television star Kelsey Grammer, who suffered a recent heart attack, will remain in a New York hospital overnight after checking in earlier on Monday when he was feeling faint, his representative said.
Grammer’s spokesman Stan Rosenfield said the 53-year-old actor, who gained fame on TV sitcoms “Cheers” and “Frasier,” was taken to the hospital this morning by his wife Camille and he was undergoing tests to determine the cause.
Grammer did not suffer an irregular heartbeat as had been reported by some celebrity media outlets, Rosenfield said.
In late May, Grammer felt chest pains while paddle-boarding with his wife in Hawaii, and he was taken to a hospital where it was determined he had suffered a heart attack. He was released on June 4 after spending four days under care.
The actor has seemed to be in good health in recent days as he has been out promoting his new movie “Swing Vote,” about a U.S. presidential election. It hits theaters on Friday.
Grammer gained fame portraying the snooty but lovable psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane for 20 years, first as a supporting player on the NBC comedy hit “Cheers” and then as the star of his own Emmy-winning spinoff series, “Frasier.”
His heart attack came three weeks after he learned the Fox network was canceling his latest show, “Back to You,” in which he played a pompous, womanizing TV news anchor. The series only made it for one season.

Kelsey Grammer has been hospitalized in New York after feeling faint following a recent heart attack .
Publicist Stan Rosenfield says Grammer checked himself into an undisclosed hospital over the weekend as a precaution and his condition is not life-threatening.
The publicist says it’s possible Grammer’s medication led to his symptoms. At the time, the actor was in town to promote his new film, “Swing Vote.”
The “Live with Regis and Kelly” show says the 53-year-old actor canceled his Tuesday morning appearance.
Nearly two months ago, the former “Cheers” and “Frasier” star suffered a mild heart attack in Hawaii, where he lives, while paddle-boating with wife Camilla.

Kelsey Grammer had ‘mild’ heart attack

A spokesman for Kelsey Grammer says the “Frasier” star is recovering in a Hawaii hospital after a mild heart attack this weekend. Stan Rosenfield says Grammer is “resting comfortably” in an undisclosed hospital after being stricken Saturday. Rosenfield says the 53-year-old actor will be released early this week.
Rosenfield says Grammer – the star of “Cheers,” “Frasier” and the recently canceled Fox sitcom “Back to You” – was paddle-boarding with his wife, Camille, when he experienced symptoms.
The couple lives in Kona, on Hawaii’s big island.
Rosenfield says Grammer was immediately taken to an area hospital where it was determined that he had suffered a “mild heart attack.” The spokesman says he is unaware of any history of heart trouble for Grammer.

Kelsey Grammer has sold his Bel-Air mansion to pregnant hottie Salma Hayek and her wealthy fiancé, Francois-Henri Pinault, for $20 million-plus. Hayek and Pinault will be bringing their baby to a fancy new crib! The five-bedroom, 1930s-era home – renovated by the “Frasier” star and his wife, Camille (together at right with their son Jude in the new issue of Hamptons magazine) – is 7,500 square feet with “spectacular views.” “We absolutely loved the home,” Grammer told The Post’s Braden Keil. “We are thrilled Salma bought the house.” Grammer, who also has a place in Malibu, has bought another house closer to the Fox studios, where he’s taping his new fall sitcom, “Back To You.” Grammer tells Hamptons that we’ve seen the last of Frasier Crane, but, “Everyone seems to think that Sideshow Bob should make an appearance in ‘The Simpsons Movie.’ ”

Former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is relying on the testimony of a retired district attorney to keep the man who killed his sister behind bars.
The actor’s sibling was raped, beaten and stabbed by thug Freddie Glenn after he botched a robbery in Colorado in 1975, and now the killer is up for parole.
Glenn has been a model prisoner and his chances of a release in January – after serving 30 years behind bars – are looking good.
But Robert Russel, the district attorney who prosecuted Glenn, is determined to make sure the murderer dies in jail.
He says, “I will do everything I can to make sure society is protected from Freddie Glenn. He’s a psychopath who showed no remorse for Karen Grammer when he slaughtered her like an animal”.
Actor Grammer has confessed he spent years sinking into a deep depression, fuelled by alcohol, after his sister’s death.
