British singer LILY ALLEN is overcoming her “rocky start” to the year by partying and spending big on luxurious items. The Smile star’s year began badly after suffering a miscarriage, and she subsequently split from Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons. But the singer is trying to put her problems behind her and has been spotted at a string of celebrity events. The 22-year-old says on her MySpace blog, “I went to a fashion show this morning and saw some old friends, which was nice. “I have been venturing out the last week or so, trying to get back to normality after what has been a rocky start to the year. “I went to a pre-BAFTA party on Saturday. I plan to go to a few things this week, it’s fashion week here in London, so there’s a lot going on, and hopefully it will be a fun week.” Allen has also been making some expensive purchases in a bid to make herself feel better. She adds, “I have been miserable lately so I bought myself a new car. It may arrive by the end of the week so something to look forward to. Life is funny isn’t it? To think that a MACBook or a car is going to be the thing to make you feel better. Something will, soon I hope.”

LILY Allen spent a few enlightening hours this week watching her kid brother parade around naked. The pop sensation attended “Equus” to see the London debut of Alfie Allen, who took over for “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe. But watching her sibling cavort with an equally nude Laura O’Toole may have been a bit much. While Lily said she was “proud” of Alfie’s acting, when asked what it was like to view him in his birthday suit, she blushed and refused to answer.

Pregnant LILY ALLEN has been preparing for motherhood for the past eight years, gathering furniture and keepsakes for the home she one day hopes to settle down in. The Smile singer announced her pregnancy just before Christmas (07) and now has set her sights on finding a dream home. She says, “I’ve been collecting stuff for my house since I was about 14 years old – Moroccan rugs, Eames chairs, lithographs, French farmhouse tables. “I think it’s quite telling that even though I’ve never had a house, I’ve been building a nest since I was 14.” And she’s keen to settle down with Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons – the father of her unborn baby. She adds, “I’ve looked forward to being stable my whole life. My parents are amazing, but it has been a whirlwind upbringing. “I definitely have got my eye on the prize, which is having kids and getting married and cooking dinner and doing homework with my children.”

British singer Lily Allen is pregnant with her first child, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The 22-year-old “Smile” singer has been dating the Chemical Brothers’ Ed Simons, 37, since September. “As the pregnancy is at a very, very early stage, the couple ask that you respect their privacy,” her rep said in a statement. “The couple will be making no further comment but they are obviously both thrilled by the news.”

Allen, whose 2006 debut album, Alright, Still, sold nearly 2 million copies, recently talked about her desire to step out of the limelight and start a family.

“Maybe I could retire at 25. I’m only going to do one more album, she told Britain’s Sunday Times in November.

“It’s a great job, but it doesn’t leave time for what’s important. Like having a family,” she added. “I’d like to live in the country and have a walled garden, and chickens and pigs.”

Despite the pregnancy news – first reported by Britain’s The Sun – Allen’s rep said, “Lily’s new album will be released as planned next year.”

Singer Lily Allen says she was diagnosed with a heart murmur about three months ago.

The Brit, 22 — who dropped from a UK size 12 to a size eight in six weeks — told Grazia magazine her sudden weight loss is the result of exercise following the health scare, not because she wanted to be “some skinny minnie.

“I used to love nothing more than sitting in front of the telly with two packets of Ginger Nuts and two bags of milk-bottle sweets — and I’d devour the lot,” she told Grazia.

“But this heart thing has made me cut back on all that kind of crap,” she added. “I now find that, because I am looking after myself, I don’t feel like eating the bad stuff so much.”

Though she’s put boozing on the backburner, she admitted, “I should also give up smoking, but haven’t quite managed that yet.”

A heart murmur is often harmless but can also indicate a hole in the heart or a heart valve problem.
