Lisa Marie Presley and her husband Michael Lockwood welcomed twin girls on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

“The babies and mom are happy and healthy and resting at home,” rep Cindy Guagenti tells PEOPLE.

The baby girls were delivered by C-section at 2:46 p.m. and weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz. and 5 lbs., 2 oz.

The singer, 40, had said on her MySpace page before the babies were born that she and husband Michael Lockwood, 47, were “beyond thrilled and blessed, elated and saturated in happiness.”

The girls are the first children together for Presley and Lockwood, a musician. Presley, who proudly displayed her baby bump in the September issue of Marie Claire, has daughter Riley, 19, a model, and Benjamin, 15, with ex-husband Danny Keough.

Presley’s mother, Priscilla, had confirmed the twins.

“She wanted it really to be kept a secret for a long time,” the singer’s mother, Priscilla Presley, tells Entertainment Tonight, which broke the news. “And I think women should, because they should be able to announce what they’re having and when it’s time to make the announcement.”

Speculation about Presley’s pregnancy first surfaced after a London newspaper published unflattering photographs and alleged that the singer had an unhealthy appetite. Presley sued for libel, and the paper later apologized. She also blogged about the experience, writing, “I accept their attempt at redemption.”

At the time, Presley said, “Yes, I am swollen. And I am going to gain weight in a city where if you’re not a minus size 0, you are fat.”

It’s official: Lisa Marie Presley is expecting twins!

A week after Us Weekly broke the news, her mom Priscilla has confirmed it to Entertainment Tonight.

“She wanted it really to be kept a secret for a long time, you know, and I think women should, because they should be able to announce what they’re having and when it’s time to make the announcement,” Priscilla tells ET.

Turns out, Lisa Marie’s dad, Elvis, was a twin, and her mother, Priscilla, has younger brothers who are twins.

A source tells Us the singer, 40, and her husband, rocker Michael Lockwood, 47, will greet their babies in the fall.

A source close to Presley tells Us, “She’s never been so happy!”

Lisa Marie — who wed Lockwood in 2006 — has two children from a previous marriage to Danny Keough.

Enjoying a night out after reluctantly announcing her pregnancy earlier this month, Lisa Marie Presley joked to PEOPLE on Friday, “I’m doing all right [but] I’d rather be in bed right now.”

Presley revealed on March 7 that she was expecting her third child this fall. The baby will be her first with husband guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood, 46.

At the opening night of PaleyFest, where her father Elvis Presley’s ‘68 Comeback Special played at Hollywood’s Arclight Cinerama Dome, Presley told PEOPLE, “I’m fine … lovely.”

Added grandma Priscilla, who was also at the event: “It feels great … to have a baby coming into the family – all of our kids are all grown. My son, of course my daughter is all grown with her kids, and now her children are grown, so it’s a new experience – it’s great!”

Lisa Marie, 40, has two teenagers with ex Danny Keough, daughter Riley, 18, and son Benjamin, 15, and says both are “very excited” to welcome a new sibling.

“I don’t really know what to do with myself when I’m not a mother,” says Presley, who’s also been at work on her third album. “I just feel like I’m good at it … I’m all right at it, and my kids are teenagers, so I thought it was time to have another round. And my mother kind of did the same thing with my brother, so, it’s just time.”

Lisa Marie Presley looked pregnant and proud as she unveiled her budding baby bump in Los Angeles.

The daughter of rock icon Elvis stepped out with third husband, musician and producer Michael Lockwood in Beverly Hills, following confirmation that she is pregnant with her third child.

Dressed in a fashionable print maxi dress, chunky platform sandals, and large hoop earrings Lisa Marie looked radiant and every inch the happy mother-to-be.

Presley’s spokeswoman confirmed the singer and her husband are expecting their first child together next autumn.

She said: “The couple are incredibly overjoyed”.

Lisa Marie married Lockwood, a collaborator on her 2005 album “Now What,” in a wedding held in Kyoto, Japan in 2006.

It will be the third child for 40-year-old Presley, who has two children, model Riley Keough, 18, and Benjamin Storm, 15, from her marriage to ex-husband Danny Keough.

The singer-songwriter, who was nine when her father died, counts Nicolas Cage and Michael Jackson among her three ex-husbands.

She has been married to Lockwood, her guitarist and producer, for two years.

A follower of Scientology like her mother Priscilla – who is currently starring in television dance show Dancing With The Stars – Lisa Marie has had two platinum-selling albums since 2003.

And in August 2007 her duet with Elvis on his 1968 single “In The Ghetto” reached number one on the iTunes video sales chart in the first week of its release.

A third album, as yet unnamed, is due to be released at some stage in 2008.

The 40-year-old daughter of Elvis Presley said the story, which was widely republished worldwide, forced her to confirm she is expecting a baby.

Her UK laywer Simon Smith said claims that she had an “unhealthy appetite” and is “growing like her dad” had left the star “deeply upset and offended”.

Presley called the press “disgusting” on her MySpace page.

The singer, who is issuing the libel claim against the Daily Mail’s publishers, Associated Newspapers, at the High Court in London, also explained why she was forced into disclosing her pregnancy.

“I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant,” she wrote.

‘Badgering and harassing’

The announcement comes days after photos of Presley eating lunch in Los Angeles emerged in some newspapers poking fun at her weight gain.

“Once they got a glimpse of my expanding physique a few days ago, they have been like a pack of coyotes circling their prey whilst eerily howling with delight,” said Presley.

She claimed publications in London, New York and Chicago wrote “false defamatory degrading stories” about why she could be putting on weight.

“Now that things are confirmed, hopefully they can stop all of the harassment and I can stop dodging the continuous bullets,” she said.

Addressing other women she added: “You know if you were pregnant and you felt you were expanding uncontrollably by the moment as a result, and the worldwide media started badgering and harassing you for it, plastering you everywhere in an unflattering light, you would be mortified as well.”

Speaking to the Associated Press, her spokeswoman Cindy Guagenti said some of the stories had gone too far.

“It’s like, ’she’s gonna die like her father’, ‘her and her mom are in a fight because of her weight’ – that’s not true at all. It’s just awful stuff,” she said.

Presley said both she and husband, music producer Michael Lockwood, were “incredibly happy” about their news.

She already has an 18-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son from her first marriage to musician to Danny Keough.

She briefly married Michael Jackson in 1994 and then actor Nicolas Cage.

Her father fought – and lost – a long and very public battle with the bulge.

Now Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie appears to have developed a similarly unhealthy appetite.

The once-svelte 40-year-old was seen devouring her lunch at Hollywood food market The Grove at the weekend.

Dressed in a baggy tracksuit top and loose trousers, she sat hunched over her meal – a curry on a polystyrene plate.

It was a stark contrast to the slim figure she cut three years ago when she bore a striking resemblance to her mother, the trim actress Priscilla.

“She looked almost unrecognizable,” said a fellow diner. “I couldn’t believe how much weight she’s put on. She must be close to 190 lbs.”

There has been speculation that Miss Presley, whose former husbands include Michael Jackson and Nicholas Cage, may be pregnant by her fourth, musician Michael Lockwood.

Despite her recent weight gain, she has a long way to go before she reaches her father’s eventual size.
