Madonna walked off with the Golden Globe for best original song Sunday night — but wasn’t exactly honored by Elton John or his husband.

Before the show, Elton John, 64, belittled the 53-year-old’s chances of winning for her song “Masterpiece,” from her directorial effort “W.E.”, telling a red carpet reporter that, “Madonna doesn’t have a f—— chance of winning.”

“Those are fighting words,” the reporter said.

“Those are accurate words,” retorted John.

His prediction proved wrong hours later. Sir Elton — who was nominated for “Hello Hello,” his song with lyricist Bernie Taupin from the animated movie “Gnomeo & Juliet” — was caught on camera grimacing when Madonna’s name was called.

His husband, David Furnish, immediately took to his Facebook page to make his feelings known.

“Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!,” he posted. “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

The music icons’ feud dates back at least seven years, according to Marie Claire magazine, when the Rocket Man slammed the Material Girl after she was named Best Live Act at the 2004 GQ Awards.

“Madonna, best f**king live act? F— off,” he said at the time. “Since when has lip-synching been live?”

Last night at the Golden Globes, Madonna and Jessica Biel found themselves awkwardly giggling after the pop superstar stomped on the train of the “New Year’s Eve” actress’ long, lace dress and had to be asked to step off it.

As Madonna followed Biel down the red carpet press line, Biel felt a tug on the train of her dress. She quickly spun around, only to find Madonna standing on her dress. Madonna stepped off the dress’ train, looking highly apologetic and holding up the length of her own silver Reem Acra gown. The two appeared to laugh before heading in separate directions.

Biel’s long-sleeved white frock had something of a bridal look to it, which raised many eyebrows as Biel is reported to be engaged to beau Justin Timberlake. However, Biel did not wear an engagement ring on her right finger, perhaps as a way to stem speculation on her relationship status. Timberlake did not accompany her to the awards show.

Madonna learned her lesson and was more careful when posing for photos with actress Andrea Riseborough, who wore a similar white lace dress to Biel’s. Riseborough stars in Madonna’s film “W.E.” and the two posed for several photos with their arms thrown around each other’s waists.

The Material Girl will be taking the stage on football’s biggest night.

Madonna, who has sold more than 300 million records, will perform at halftime of the Super Bowl in Indianapolis. The NFL and NBC announced Sunday during the Detroit-New Orleans game that the Grammy Award-winning singer will highlight the show at Lucas Oil Stadium on Feb. 5.

The show is the most-watched musical event of the year, with more than 162 million in the U.S. tuning in to see The Black Eyed Peas’ performance with Slash and Usher in Dallas at halftime of Green Bay’s Super Bowl win over Pittsburgh last February.

Madonna, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, will join such acts as Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Prince, U2, Paul McCartney, The Who and the Rolling Stones to perform during recent Super Bowls. She will collaborate with a team from Cirque du Soleil, choreographer Jamie King, and artists from Moment Factory.

Madonna, currently in the studio working on a new album, has a new film “W.E.” which she directed, wrote and produced and will open nationally two days before the NFL’s signature event.

The Super Bowl and halftime show, sponsored by Bridgestone Americas, will be broadcast worldwide on NBC.

For a guy who took part in the 1993 robbery and murder of a Staten Island woman, former Madonna flame Chris Paciello seems to have become quite a friend of law enforcement.

Sandy Sachs, who was Paciello’s partner in West Hollywood’s Murano restaurant, is ready to file a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, charging that Paciello vengefully persuaded a cop buddy to have her busted on a phony drunken-driving charge.

Sachs’ lawyer, Gerson Horn, says Paciello set her up after she sued him for allegedly failing to make good on a promised $600,000 investment. Horn tells us that, on April 16, cops received a call from off-duty deputy Sheriff Ralph Garay, who claimed Sachs was drunk at the restaurant and about to drive home. According to Horn, Paciello can be heard on a dispatch tape coaching Garay to tell on-duty cops Sachs should be arrested.

Horn says a deputy who came to the restaurant “saw no evidence that Sandy was drunk.” But, after Paciello’s girlfriend, Erin Naas, also allegedly told police Sachs was drunk, Sachs was confronted at her home by several officers. Horn says they “threw her to the ground, handcuffed and pummeled her. Her body was covered with bruises.”

A forced blood test determined Sachs’ alcohol level was within legal limits. The L.A. district attorney’s office has declined to file charges against her. Horn says Sachs’ suit will accuse police of wrongful arrest, battery and civil rights violations.

Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Parker says, “We found no wrongdoing by our employees. It was a legal arrest.” Paciello’s lawyer, Keith Fink, says, “A friend of Chris’ did the responsible thing by calling in someone who appeared drunk.”

Jesus Luz is realizing that he’ll never be anything more than Madonna’s manny-with-benefits.

According to a source, the 22-year-old Brazilian boy toy has become aware that his cougar-ific girlfriend doesn’t take him seriously now that her ex, Guy Ritchie, is back in the picture.

“Guy is around pretty frequently, and Jesus is becoming resentful,” the pal confides. “He feels inadequate. He’s intimidated by Guy’s accomplishments; they clearly aren’t equals.”

In addition, the male model is downright childlike when it comes to needing Madonna’s constant attention. “Jesus has gotten used to being her focus, and when Guy is around, that doesn’t happen,” says the friend.

While Luz adores Madonna’s kids – Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, David Banda, 3, and the newly adopted Mercy James, 4 – the source says all he’ll ever be to them is a manny figure, a big brother at best.

Ritchie has definitely been throwing his presence around: He visited Madonna and Mercy in London in late June, and even had a kabbalah day with the entire family. More recently, the two attended a U.K. party together. He’s also been palling around with Madge’s besties: He welcomed Justin Timberlake to his British pub, the Punchbowl, and hung out with Stella McCartney at a Prada benefit earlier this month.

Despite Ritchie’s reconnection with Madge, the “Sherlock Holmes” director and his former missus are truly done. “Still, Guy is still a part of her life and he always will be,” says the friend. “They were married for eight years, and they have three children together. Jesus doesn’t like it, but tough luck.”

Reps for Ritchie, Madonna and Luz didn’t respond to calls for comment.

So what does Madonna see in Jesus? “He’s pretty and she can boss him around,” says the source. “He’s good in bed. And he takes really good care of her kids. But as a life partner? No. He’s child’s play.”

Lord, have Mercy!

That’s what Madonna’s new adopted daughter seems to be thinking as she soaks in the hustle and bustle of London 48 hours after being whisked from her African homeland.

The pop singer said she will “cocoon” 4-year-old Mercy James in her British townhouse for a week, to help her adjust to her new life.

Madonna’s pals said the girl slept through most of the 6,000-mile flight on a private jet from the Malawian capital Lilongwe to Heathrow on Friday.

Her bewildered expression suggests she is finding London a rather confusing place.

After just 24 hours in the UK four-year-old Mercy James still has a lot to get used to in the world of her new adopted mother Madonna.

She was spotted outside the singer’s $15million Mayfair home yesterday morning, in the arms of a woman believed to be her nanny.

Madonna, 50, won custody of Mercy a little over a week ago and had been expected to fly out to Malawi to collect her.

Instead a nanny flew with Mercy on a private jet to South Africa on Friday night before taking a first-class flight to Heathrow.

Hours after landing on Saturday Mercy accompanied Madonna and her new siblings Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and David, three, to a London meeting of the Kabbalah faith.

Madonna’s ex-husband Guy Ritchie was also seen at the centre. It is understood that he has taken Rocco and David to his home in Wiltshire while Madonna bonds with Mercy in London.

The family spent an hour at the centre in London before Mercy, wearing shiny white sandals, returned to the singer’s Mayfair home.

Yesterday passers by got a glimpse of the girl as she was seen at the singer’s front door wearing a smart new pink frock as guests arrived at the home.

It is believed that the singer was at the home as well as her car and driver were seen coming and going from the premises.

An onlooker said: ‘Mercy looked slightly confused. It has obviously been a bit like a circus around her over the past few days so it’s not surprising.

‘It was only a day or two ago that she was still in Malawi and now she finds herself in the middle of London without her friends.’

Experts have criticised how quickly after arriving in the country the youngster had been taken to the Kaballah centre saying she needs time to adjust.

They fear her new life in the limelight of Madonna’s family will prove to be a big ‘culture shock’ to the girl from a Malawian orphanage.

In Malawi the girl’s dad James Kambewa who had battled to take custody of the child has hit out at the singer adopting Mercy.

He said: ‘My Mercy is gone. Madonna has used her money and power but my blood lives in Mercy for ever and ever. There is nothing I can do now.’

If Mercy’s experience of living with the superstar is anything like Madonna’s other adopted child, David Banda, she can look forward to a life of luxury.

Little David has been treated to designer clothes and has dined regularly at some of New York and London’s most exclusive restaurants.

Last year the three-year-old was seen being carried out of the Mayfair eaterie, San Lorenzo’s, a far cry from his native country Malawi where the national dish is a maize-based meal called nsima.
