It’s double the baby joy for Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony: They’re the proud new parents of twins, a boy and a girl, Lopez’s manager tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The babies were born early Friday in Long Island, N.Y. The girl was born at 12:12 a.m. and weighed 5 lbs. 7 oz., and the boy followed at 12:23 a.m., weighing 6 lbs.

“Jennifer and Marc are delighted, thrilled and over the moon,” Lopez’s manager Simon Fields tells PEOPLE exclusively.

They’re the first children for Lopez, 38, and the fourth and fifth for Anthony, 39. The couple celebrated the impending births with a baby shower in New York on Jan. 19. “They were just beaming the entire time,” said one partygoer.

Longtime friend Leah Remini calls Lopez “a born mom” and very nurturing. “With our daughter, she’s so great. I mean, lets her go in her closet and play with her coats or her jewelry. She’s just so giving and loving,” Remini said.

Lopez announced her pregnancy Nov. 8, telling the crowd during her final Miami concert: “Marc and I are expecting a baby!” The news of twins was finally confirmed by Lopez’s dad earlier this month, in an interview on Spanish-language television.

Lopez Long Kept Pregnancy Secret

During the early weeks of her pregnancy, Lopez skillfully ducked the question, even when appearing on TV in October with Diane Sawyer and with David Letterman.

Lopez shrugged off the secrecy, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “I kind of feel like everybody knew anyway. I was on tour with a bubble gut!”

And being tight lipped has long been Lopez’s style. When she married Anthony in June 2004, her rep would neither confirm nor deny the nuptials had taken place.

What are not being kept secret are Lopez’s plans now that she’s a mother. As she told Harper’s, the hard-working performer intends to take time off.

“Once I did the tour,” she said, “I really just wanted to shut it down, and since then I’ve had to do three things, including a video. It may not sound like a lot, but you know, as this point, any woman can sympathize. It is a lot. I was ready just to sit.”

They’re not yet born, but Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony have already picked out names for their twins. Star has learned exclusively that the parents-to-be have chosen Max and Emme!

On Jan. 18, the day before the 38-year-old Grammy winner’s fabulous baby shower at New York City’s chic Gramercy Park Hotel, J.Lo’s mom, Guadalupe, was spotted picking up two gold-rope baby ID bracelets engraved with those names from Genesis Jewelers in Yorktown Heights, N.Y.

Unfortunately for Guadalupe, she wasn’t alone in the store, and another shopper heard exactly what she ordered!

Jennifer Lopez celebrated her pregnancy with a baby shower Saturday on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City.

The singer and her husband Marc Anthony both attended the afternoon shower, which was hosted by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Lopez’s producer on the 2002 film Maid in Manhattan.

Lopez, 38, “looked very pretty – and very pregnant,” according to an eyewitness, who saw the couple arrive flanked by bodyguards.

Among the guests were actress Leah Remini and designer Roberto Cavalli, who gifted Lopez with a pink leopard crib, according to a source. As for the décor, everything at the shower was blue and pink – and the room was covered with Swarovski crystal, said the source.

Last month the singer, who is due in a few weeks, was given matching pink and blue Tuni & G onesies from her sister Lynda Lopez. The pop star has been mum about whether she’s expecting twins, though multiple sources have told PEOPLE she’s having two bundles of joy.

The singer first announced she would be starting a family with her husband of three years, Marc Anthony, 39, last November after months of speculation.

“This is a special time in our lives,” Lopez told an audience during a concert in Miami, the final stop on the couple’s El Cantante tour.

Even as her baby bump grew increasingly noticeable with each performance, Lopez had avoided discussing her impending motherhood.

“We’re just getting used to the fact that we’ve told everybody” Lopez tells Harper’s Bazaar for its February issue.

When asked how long she is planning to take off from her career as a singer, actress and designer, Lopez says, “I don’t know – and I like that.”

Six-months-pregnant Jennifer Lopez started preparing for her bundle of joy (or possibly two) with Marc Anthony more than two years ago, PageSix.com has learned. The sexy star oversaw the construction of a nursery in her hubby Marc’s $3.7 million Glen Head, New York, home in September 2005, shortly after the couple exchanged vows, according to a visitor who toured the suburban property.

“A frilly white bassinet, a wooden crib and a fancy, pastel-colored mobile were in the process of being set up in a light-blue room that had its own bathroom and a private hallway leading to the nanny’s quarters,” says the insider. “Plush baby dolls and soft toy animals were everywhere.” The room, located on the northernmost side of the estate’s second floor, was filled with 10 unopened boxes of newborn goodies, and another five enormous crates clogged the hallway leading to J. Lo and Marc’s master bedroom on the opposite side of the house — far enough away to ensure the dancing diva’s beauty sleep when needed!

Jennifer might have even more work cut out for her, considering she only prepared for one baby. If reports are to be believed, the luscious Latina is expecting twins. But obviously she’s not afraid of a challenge: Before she made over the mansion, it was decorated in a hunting theme, complete with plaid wallpaper and wooden mallards. J. Lo’s reinterpretation was featured in the fall/winter 2006 issue of Vogue Living.

Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez

For weeks she’s let her growing bump to do all the talking, but now Jennifer Lopez has finally confirmed she is expecting her first child.
She told Miami concertgoers last night: “Marc and I are expecting.”

After her announcement, Anthony kissed Lopez’s belly and said: “I didn’t know she was going to talk.”

Lopez, 39, did not say when she was due to give birth.

Her expanding tummy has been at the centre of much attention in recent times, but until now she had kept mum on her impending arrival.

But while she went to extraordinary lengths to keep onlookers guessing, her close friend Roberto Cavalli let slip the news earlier this month.

Cavalli noted that each week the singer, who is thought to be almost four months pregnant, gets larger forcing him to change his designs for her touring costumes.

He admitted in an off-guard moment: “Well Jennifer Lopez, at this moment, she requests something very special because she is waiting for the baby.

He told People magazine: “It is so complicated because every week she is getting bigger.”

It was, of course, the worst kept secret in Hollywood, but now the singer’s quickly expanding bump is fuelling new rumours she is expecting twins

Singer Marc Anthony had the audience at his show Friday night in Los Angeles buzzing when he made a special dedication to his wife and fellow headliner, Jennifer Lopez.

“I’m going to take a chance and dedicate this to Jennifer,” he told the crowd at L.A.’s Staple Center, before belting out “Faithfully”, the classic Journey tune, whose lyrics seemed to have an unmistakable significance to the bump-watchers in the crowd:

They say that the road
Ain’t no place to start a family
Right down the line
It’s been you and me
And lovin a music man
Ain’t always what it’s supposed to be
Oh girl you stand by me
I’m forever yours…faithfully

The duo’s 14-city tour comes to an end on November 4 in Orlando, Florida. They have been on the road since September 29, when they kicked off the tour in Atlantic City. Despite her increasingly visible bump, the singer has refused to directly address the speculation that she is about to become a mom. She told Diane Sawyer, “This is really, really a great, happy time in my life. … Everything’s great.”
