Nick Cannon is one tough cookie.

The “America’s Got Talent” host is staying optimistic despite kicking off the new year in a hospital bed earlier this week.

“As always, he’s in good spirits considering the situation,” wife Mariah Carey told People.

Cannon, 31, was hospitalized after a mild kidney failure during a holiday getaway in Aspen, Colo., but he was moved to an L.A. hospital late Wednesday afternoon.

“Currently being transferred to a hospital in L.A,” he tweeted. “Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me … I will be a’ight.”

Carey, 41, who gave birth to the couple’s twins in April this year, was by her husband’s side the entire time, tweeting that it was a bizarre role reversal.

“Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are,” she wrote.

But though Cannon is currently “in a lot of pain,” Caey is staying positive too.

“We are hopeful that he’ll be 100 percent as soon as possible,” she told People. “We really appreciate everybody’s love and support.”

Nick Cannon has been transferred to a Los Angeles hospital to continue treatment for “mild kidney failure.”

His representative says the 31-year-old Cannon was moved Wednesday after receiving treatment in Aspen, Colo., where the TV personality and his wife, Mariah Carey, had been vacationing.

Carey has been by Cannon’s side. Earlier this week, she tweeted that he is suffering from “mild kidney failure” and posted a photo on her website of the couple as they lay in a hospital bed in Aspen.

She is asking fans to “Please keep Nick in your thoughts.”

Cannon’s representative had no further details Thursday about his condition.

Instead of going green on Earth Day, Nick Cannon went yellow, shaking the hand of a life-size SpongeBob SquarePants atop the Empire State Building Wednesday morning. What accounts for Nick’s sudden interest in the Nickelodeon franchise? Mariah Carey’s other half was recently named honorary chairman and development consultant for the network’s 24-hour TV network for teens, which will be rebranded TEENick in its fourth quarter.

Nick Cannon may be baby-talking with Mariah Carey at home, but publicly, he’s keeping things private.

“Everyone wants to know!” he laughed to us about the million-dollar question: Why were he and Mariah seen leaving an IVF clinic on Easter?

But Cannon, DJ-ing at Vibe’s “Notorious” DVD release party, wouldn’t budge. “I tell people to just relax,” he said. “Give my wife the respect she needs, the respect you’d give any woman. You don’t just go around saying, ‘Yeah, she’s pregnant.’ How disrespectful is that?”

Cannon added that he and Mimi have finally purchased L.A. digs. “Yes, we bought a house in L.A, but it’s not the billion-dollar one everyone thinks,” he said. “People just make stuff up.”

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon – who celebrate their one-year anniversary in May – are prepping for parenthood: They bought a dog.

“I got her a short-haired Jack Russell terrier — a girl, named Cha-Cha. She’s 8 weeks,” Cannon, 28, told Usmagazine.com Saturday at a concert at Cabana One in Coconut Grove, Fla.

He and Carey, 39, secretly wed in Eleuthera in the Bahamas last spring.

Cannon said being married to Carey is “the most amazing thing ever. I couldn’t wish for anything else. She’s the most incredible woman. Being in a strong union and being there for each other is something that I’d never really experienced before, so to experience it with my wife is remarkable. We’re together as one, and that’s important to me.”

He was mum on their anniversary plans, but told Us, “We never went on a honeymoon, so I guess I can tell you we’ll probably go to Barbados.”

Asked if there are any babies in the near future, he laughed.
