Prince is going to have a regular gig. Word in L.A. is that the Hollywood Roosevelt has signed the singer to play in its Blossom Room for seven consecutive Fridays starting June 15. A spy said, “He’s getting paid $3 million for the gigs – $1.5 million is coming from a clothing company, Verizon is chalking up $750,000, and the rest is covered by the hotel. Prince will also get comped rooms, food and beverages.” A rep for Prince didn’t return calls.

In the sensitive post-wardrobe malfunction world, some are questioning whether a guitar was just a guitar during Prince’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Prince’s acclaimed performance included a guitar solo during the “Purple Rain” segment of his medley in which his shadow was projected onto a large, flowing beige sheet. As the 48-year-old rock star let rip, the silhouette cast by his figure and his guitar (shaped like the singer’s symbol) had phallic connotations for some.
A number of bloggers have decried “Malfunction!” – including Sam Anderson at New York magazine’s Daily Intelligencer. Daily News television critic David Bianculli called it “a rude-looking shadow show” that “looked embarrassingly rude, crude and unfortunately placed.”
CBS spokesman Dana McClintock said Tuesday that the network has received “very few” complaints on Prince’s performance. CBS last aired the Super Bowl in 2004 when Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s “wardrobe malfunction” sparked criticism and a subsequent crackdown on broadcast decency from the Federal Communications Commission.
But this time, it was the NFL that produced the halftime show (MTV had in 2004). Spokesman Greg Aiello said the league has received no complaints.
“We respect other opinions, but it takes quite a leap of the imagination to make a controversy of his performance,” Aiello said. “It’s a guitar.”
The majority of the reaction to Prince’s performance has been laudatory, including positive reviews from The Associated Press, the New York Times and USA Today – all of which noted the lack of controversy in this year’s halftime show. AP Entertainment Writer Douglas J. Rowe wrote: “He delivered one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows – ever.”
For decades, the electric guitar, by nature, has been considered phallic. From Jimi Hendrix’s sensual 6-string swagger to Eddie Van Halen’s masturbatory soloing, the guitar has often been thought an extension of a male player’s sexuality.
Was Prince’s pose phallic?
I don’t really think so – get over it people! If you don’t like what you see, you can change the channel!

Prince is setting up home in Las Vegas after signing up to headline Club Rio nights every Friday and Saturday for the foreseeable future.
The club will be renamed 3121 after Prince’s most recent album for the late-night concerts, which will begin later this month.
The pop superstar will be moving into the Rio hotel during the run. Prince will use his new Las Vegas club to highlight new talent every Wednesday and he’ll stage a Latin club night every Thursday.
The pop perfectionist is also keen to make sure fans dining at his new club eat in style – a menu has been created by one of Prince’s favorite chefs, Lena Morgan.

Pop superstar Prince recently offered sexy dancers at a Hollywood strip club twice their nightly rate to go home because their gyrations offended his beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness. The 48-year-old is believed to be a regular at the Xenii night spot, but he told the female performers it was “wrong to dance like that,” according to British newspaper The Sun.
He added, “What would your parents think if they could see you now? You’re too good for this. You shouldn’t be selling yourself so cheap.”
The dancers refused Prince’s offer, however. A partygoer said, “No one knows why he comes here. He doesn’t drink, doesn’t like the music, and now doesn’t like the dancers.”

An invitation has been extended to Prince to perform at this yearâ??s Super Bowl half-time show, according to E! Television.
So far the recently divorced superstar has yet to accept, but organizers expect a green light shortly.
Meanwhile, everyone is hoping the dimunitive artist – now a devout Jehovah’s Witness – does not return to his wild ways before the big game at Miami Dolphin Stadium in February. Prince once famously bared his butt cheeks during a live TV performance and a similar incident could provoke the kind of outrage we saw following â??Nipplegateâ? in 2004.
