Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora Reuniting for Thanksgiving

Heather Locklear and ex-husband Richie Sambora are embracing the spirit of Thanksgiving by celebrating the holiday together – along with Locklear’s boyfriend – this year.
“Richie and Heather are spending Thanksgiving together with [daughter] Ava,” a friend of Locklear’s tells PEOPLE. “Jack [Wagner] and a few good friends will also be having dinner with them.”
Locklear, 47, and Sambora, 49, split in 2006 after 12 years of marriage, but they continue to be supportive of each other, and to co-parent their 11 year old daughter.
“They may be divorced, but they are raising a little girl they both love very much,” a friend of the Bon Jovi guitarist told PEOPLE in June after Locklear sought treatment for depression and anxiety.
“Heather and Richie are very supportive of each other,” Locklear’s friend adds. “They talk all the time, and anytime Ava has something important happening they are there together. It’s going to be a very nice Thanksgiving for everyone.”
Sambora, who was a presenter at Sunday’s American Music Awards, tells hollyscoop.com that “everything is really cool,” between him and his ex-wife.
He also tells the site, which broke news of their Thanksgiving plans, that Locklear is “doing fantastic” following her DUI arrest in September.

Tico Torres and Richie Sambora

Richie Sambora struck a deal with prosecutors Tuesday just hours after they filed drunken driving charges against him, pleading no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit.
In turn, the district attorney agreed to drop a second charge – driving under the influence of alcohol – against the Bon Jovi guitarist, said Farrah Emami, a district attorney spokeswoman.
Sambora was sentenced to three years of informal probation, three months of first-offender alcohol awareness class and court fees. He also cannot have any measurable amount of drugs or alcohol in his system while driving during his probation.
The legal-limit charge refers to a blood-test measurement, whereas the under-the-influence charge is generally based on a more subjective determination of the driver’s condition. Both are routinely filed in drinking and driving cases and carry similar penalties.
The 48-year-old musician was pulled over in Laguna Beach on March 25 after he was allegedly seen swerving and straddling two lanes. District attorney’s spokeswoman Farrah Emami said Sambora’s blood-alcohol level was .13 percent; the legal limit is .08 percent in California.
Sambora did not attend the hearing at the Orange County Superior Court, where his attorney, Blair Berk, entered the plea on his behalf. Berk confirmed the plea deal but declined to comment further.
Two children and a woman were in the car. The children were released to the woman’s custody, and none of their names have been made public.
Police had asked the district attorney to file misdemeanor charges of child endangerment against Sambora as well, but Emami said prosecutors didn’t have enough to make the case.
“The charge of DUI in itself indicates you have endangered yourself and others,” she said. “There would have needed to be additional aggravating circumstances to charge that.”

Police have recommended to prosecutors that Richie Sambora be charged with DUI and child endangerment – both as misdemeanors – stemming from his March 25 arrest, says a source close to the case.
Last week, Laguna Beach Police handed over the case to the Orange County Calif. District Attorney’s Office, which has not announced any formal charges yet.
“Because the case is under review, I can’t discuss the details,” DA spokeswoman Farrah Emami told PEOPLE. “Ultimately, we have to base our decision on the available evidence.”
If Sambora is formally charged with both misdemeanors, a jail sentence is likely, legal experts say.
“Assuming Sambora was driving with over a .08 blood-alcohol level with a passenger under 14 in the car, he’s looking at probable jail time,” says veteran DUI lawyer Lawrence Taylor, who’s not involved with the case. “But it’s possible this can be plea bargained to a lesser offense, and/or he could get rehab in lieu of jail.”
Sambora, 48, was arrested in Laguna Beach last month after police spotted him driving unsteadily in a Hummer. In the car was Sambora’s girlfriend, Jenn Mallini, his daughter, Ava, 10 (whose mother is Sambora’s ex-wife Heather Locklear), and her teenage cousin.
Since the incident, the Bon Jovi guitarist appears to be partying responsibly. Sambora was seen in Las Vegas over the weekend at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino with a group of friends, where he drank only water, following the band’s sold-out show at the MGM Grand.
“He was in really good spirits, having a really good time,” said one onlooker. “He seemed happy and content.”
Last year was a difficult one for the musician: In June, Sambora entered a treatment facility. In addition, he and Denise Richards broke up after dating for about a year. And last April, his divorce from Locklear was finalized while that same month, his father died of lung cancer.
Sambora’s tentative arraignment is set for May 7.
His rep had no immediate comment.

Richie Sambora was arrested on a DUI charge in Laguna Beach, Calif., Tuesday night after he was pulled over with his girlfriend and 10-year-old daughter in the car.
The Bon Jovi guitarist was stopped around 10:52 p.m. after police said they spotted him weaving on the road, according Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz tells PEOPLE. Sambora was driving a Hummer and was with his girlfriend, daughter Ava (whose mother is ex-wife Heather Locklear) and another unidentified juvenile girl.
Sambora was given a blood alcohol test – “He smelled of alcohol,” Kravetz says – and he was “quiet and cooperative and he didn’t cause any problems,” he added.
Sambora was later released from custody on his own recognizance at about 4 a.m. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on May 7.
“At this point there’s no indication of drugs,” Kravetz told TMZ.com, which first reported the arrest.
A rep for Sambora had no immediate comment.
A friend who knows Sambora and Locklear tells PEOPLE the news of the musician’s arrest is “shocking.”
The friend, who hasn’t spoken to Sambora since the incident, said the fact that his daughter, Ava, was also in the car is “almost too much to believe. He adores her and is very protective her. All I can think is that he made a stupid miscalculation.”
In June 2007, Sambora entered a treatment facility. “I was just drinking too much and I needed to get my life together,” he said during a Today show appearance. “I’m still in therapy and stuff like that, but it’s good. I’m great. I feel fine.”
Last year was a difficult one for the musician, 48. He and actress Denise Richards broke up after dating for about a year. In April, his divorce from Locklear was finalized and that same month, his father died of lung cancer.
As for Sambora’s band obligations, his next tour date with Bon Jovi was slated for Monday in Denver.
Richie Sambora Joins Lohan In Rehab

Lindsay Lohan has a new rehab pal – Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora.
The rocker has checked into the same Utah rehab facility as the Mean Girls star, the Cirque Lodge, according to U.S. sources.
In June, the guitarist completed a detox stint at the Ucla Medical Center after confessing he was struggling with alcoholism.
In an interview shortly after his brief stay, Sambora said, “I was just drinking too much and I needed to get my life together… It’s been a rough year.
“I’m still in therapy and stuff like that, but it’s good. I’m great. I feel fine.”
Sambora’s alcohol issues came after the break-ups of his marriage to Heather Locklear and romance with Denise Richards, and the death of his father.
Meanwhile in other news Lohan stands accused of destroying the marriage of a rock star she was reported to have romanced in rehab.
Lohan was linked with Dead Stays Alive frontman Tony Allen earlier this month after they were both patients at the Cirque Lodge Clinic in Utah.
Now Allen’s wife Stephanie has filed for divorce, citing reports of his infidelity with Lohan.
Court documents, obtained by British newspaper News Of The World, claim Allen’s “habitual drug use” and “conduct and relationship with another woman” were to blame for the split. The 52-page document includes press cuttings of the reports of his fling with Lohan.
Stephanie Allen is quoted saying, “After my husband’s return from rehabilitation I was bombarded with calls alerting me to the fact that my husband’s conduct with another woman was on the internet and in gossip magazines.”
Tony Allen has always denied sleeping with Lohan, insisting at the time, “We’re great friends.”.

Denise Richards and Richie Sambora broke up about two months ago, her rep confirms.
Although they were no longer a couple, last month they attended the funeral in New Jersey for Sambora’s father, who died of lung cancer on April 21.
“Denise ended things but wanted to be there for him as a friend,” a source close to Richards tells PEOPLE.
A Sambora source calls the split “amicable.”
“They did break up about a month prior to Richie’s dad’s death,” says the source. “She came to the funeral to support him. He needs to focus on his daughter Ava and wishes Denise and her kids all the best.”
In Touch magazine was first to report the breakup.
Richards’s mother has kidney cancer, and she told PEOPLE in February she and Sambora were helping each other cope with their parents’ illnesses.
Richards, 36, and Sambora, 47, began dating in April 2006 after splitting from their respective spouses. Richards’s four-year marriage to Charlie Sheen officially ended in November; Sambora and Heather Locklear finalized their divorce in April.
