Griffin O’Neal, the son of actor Ryan O’Neal, has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs stemming from a head-on crash that injured another motorist.

The San Diego Union-Tribune says O’Neal pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence and possession of a firearm by a felon, both felonies. He also acknowledged he has a 1992 conviction for shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Prosecutors say O’Neal was on drugs Aug. 2 when he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle in San Diego County.

Defense attorney Heather Boxeth said at a previous hearing that her client had been trying to help his half-brother Redmond O’Neal, who had been arrested on suspicion of heroin possession the same day.

Griffin O’Neal faces up to four years in prison.

Griffin O’Neal, Ryan’s son with Joanna Moore, drove 300 miles to LA to attend Fawcett’s service, but Ryan had him barred. Ryan was once dubbed “Hollywood’s Worst Father” by Britain’s Daily Mail because all of his children — Griffin, Tatum (who also was not al lowed to attend) and Redmond (his son with Fawcett who was allowed out of prison to at tend) — have had drug problems. Ryan told “In side Edition” Griffin was banned “because he’s a bad guy.” Griffin told the show, “I just wanted to say goodbye to someone that I knew and loved for 33 years.”

Ryan O’Neal says he plans to marry Farrah Fawcett, who is struggling to overcome cancer. The 68-year-old actor says in an interview with Barbara Walters for ABC’s “20/20″ that he asked his longtime companion to marry him and “she’s agreed.” O’Neal says they will tie the knot “as soon as she can say yes.”

Walters’ interview with O’Neal airs Friday.

Fawcett was diagnosed in 2006 with anal cancer that has spread to her liver. The “Charlie’s Angels” star and O’Neal have a 24-year-old son, Redmond.

O’Neal says the 62-year-old actress is “fighting for her life,” but despite her declining health, they will “absolutely” get married.

Cancer-stricken Farrah Fawcett is suffering so much her longtime love, Ryan O’Neal, sometimes wishes she would go to sleep peacefully and not wake up.

“I feel like crying, I’ll tell you that, when I look at her sometimes,” he said in a heart-wrenching interview that aired Thursday on NBC’s “Today” show.

“I kind of wish that she would go to sleep, just go to sleep. It’s not my right, but I just don’t see how she could be happy.”
Despite those feelings, the 68-year-old actor said he’s only “semi” prepared to let Fawcett’s ferocious battle against anal cancer end.

“I let her go weeks and weeks ago, but she came back,” he said of his partner’s touch-and-go condition.

“I keep promising to take her to Italy. She said ‘I’ll drive,’” he recalled with a smile. “I don’t think there will be a trip to Italy, though.”

O’Neal told the Daily News he will wake the heavily sedated “Charlie’s Angels” star Friday night so they can watch her two-hour documentary, “Farrah’s Story,” on NBC at 9 p.m.

Tears flowed Wednesday night when stars turned out to see the premiere screening of the film and support an icon whose beauty defined a decade and whose strength is defining her final chapter.

“Cancer is my own private war. The strain, the nausea, the fever take turns challenging my strength, my mind and my spirit,” Fawcett says in the intimate video diary.

In her quest to survive, Fawcett has endured chemotherapy, radiation, radioactive isotopes, lasers, tumor embolization and multiple surgeries.

“I won’t surrender. I want to live,” she’s seen saying to a doctor in Germany, where she received treatments not available in the U.S.

In some of the most heartbreaking scenes, Fawcett allows herself rare moments where she contemplates death.

“For Redmond, my boy, I will always be there. When you are so very young, I will be there. When you fall, I will be there,” she said, tearfully reading from a letter to her son with O’Neal.

“When one day, you wake up and realize that I am gone, I will still be there, always. Always with you, forever in you, Redmond, my boy.”

Redmond O’Neal is in jail for violating drug and DUI probation. In scene shot last month, he appeared at Farrah’s bedside during a court-sanctioned visit and climbed into bed with her, trying to hide his leg shackles.

Even before it aired, the documentary spawned a legal dispute, with a producer claiming he was cut out of the project and threatened by O’Neal, according to TMZ.com.

A spokesman for Fawcett and O’Neal called the suit “horrific.”

Los Angeles police say the 24-year-old son of actors Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett has been arrested on a drug charge just months after he and his father were charged with drug possession.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore says Redmond O’Neal was arrested Sunday on suspicion of bringing narcotics into a jail facility after admitting he was carrying drugs. He is being held on $25,000 bail.

Whitmore says a deputy stopped O’Neal, who was at the jail giving a ride to a friend.

O’Neal was arrested in September with Ryan O’Neal and charged with felony methamphetamine possession. He was on probation for a previous drug conviction.

A phone message left for his attorney wasn’t immediately returned.

Actor Ryan O’Neal and his son Redmond have both been charged with felony possession of methamphetamines TMZ reported on Wednesday.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned on November 13 according to TMZ.

Ryan, 67, and Redmond, 24, were arrested on suspicion of meth possession at the star’s home in Malibu in September.

Authorities found Redmond in possession of the drug while a vial was discovered in Ryan’s bedroom, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Los Angeles Times.

The police search was related to Redmond’s probation. He was arrested last year in Malibu on charges related to possession of heroin and meth while driving under the influence.

Ryan, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his starring role in 1970′s Love Story, was also arrested last year on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm during an argument with another son, Griffin. The actor claimed he only fired a warning shot.

Redmond’s mother is actress Farrah Fawcett.

A day after Ryan O’Neal and his son were arrested on suspicion of drug possession, his lawyer denied any wrongdoing by the actor. “The drugs found were not his,” attorney Mark Werksman told The Associated Press on Thursday. “He would never use them.”

O’Neal was arrested along with his son, Redmond, after authorities searched their home early Wednesday. The search was part of a routine sweep by deputies checking on Redmond O’Neal, who remains on probation after pleading guilty earlier this year to a pair of drug possession felonies.

The pair were released after posting $10,000 bail. Los Angeles County prosecutors will evaluate whether to press charges against the men.

Werksman said the elder O’Neal was “shaken up” by the arrests. “We know that when all the facts come out, he should not be charged with any crime here.”

The lawyer did not address any role O’Neal’s son may have played, and said he did not know who was representing Redmond O’Neal.

A sheriff’s spokesman said Wednesday that Ryan O’Neal was arrested after drugs were found in his living area. The drugs were suspected to be methamphetamine.

“He’s tried to lead a peaceful life,” Werksman said of Ryan O’Neal. “He’s acting and he’s caring for his family and this is the last thing he ever wanted or expected.”

O’Neal, 67, was nominated for a best actor Academy Award for 1970′s “Love Story.” Redmond, 23, is his son from a relationship with Farrah Fawcett.

O’Neal had two children with his first wife, Joanna Moore: actor Griffin O’Neal and actress Tatum O’Neal, his co-star in the 1973 movie “Paper Moon,” for which she won an Oscar for best supporting actress.

In July, Tatum O’Neal pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in connection with an arrest on suspicion of cocaine possession in New York.

On Thursday, she issued a statement of support for her father and half brother.

“Addiction, if untreated, can lead to jail, institutions and death. I love them both and I am sorry to hear about this,” she said.
