She’s one of the most trendsetting toddlers the world has ever seen.

Now little Suri Cruise seems to be inspiring those closer to home.

Suri and mum Katie Holmes were spotted with matching messy hairstyles in Los Angeles yesterday.

In the past, Katie has been accused of having a hairstyle exactly like her Hollywood husband Tom Cruise; short, cropped and boyish.

But the Dawson’s Creek star now looks more like her three-year-old daughter, with a longer, less severe, look.

Katie, 30, was seen collecting the cute Ms Cruise from a ballet class in LA.

Clutching her daughter, dressed in a bold floral print dress, Katie was also seen holding a tiny pair of ballet shoes.

Perhaps Suri was keen to take up ballet after seeing The Nutcracker in December last year?

The toddler went backstage after the performance in New York and seemed to be transfixed by the prima ballerinas in their tutus and professional dance shoes.

But dance lessons aren’t the only classes Suri is having.

The National Enquirer said last month that Tom is spending $1million on French, Spanish, ballet, tap, modern dance, gymnastics and football lessons for the tot.

And she hasn’t even started school yet!

Tom and Katie Cruise’s doll-like daughter Suri is to be trained in Scientology after her third birthday this week.

The Cruises are sending their daughter five days a week to the Church of Scientology’s £6,000-a-year New Village Academy in Los Angeles, launched last year by Tom’s friend, fellow actor Will Smith.

It is staffed by trained Scientologists and lists ‘study technology’ as a key curricular focus.

‘The children have a lot of responsibilities from a very young age,’ says a source.

‘The school is particularly strict about nutrition, demanding a low-carb, low-sodium and low-sugar organic diet.

‘Katie is understandably a little anxious about being separated from Suri.’

Katie, 30, has herself only just come to the end of her punishing Purification Rundown diet, apparently as a prelude to having a second child.

The diet – which consists of herbal drinks and a purification procedure to eliminate toxic substances – left her so run down that she was forced to miss the Oscars.

And as I revealed the actress resolves problems with her husband Tom Cruise by making weekly written confessions, as laid out in the Scientology code.

‘Katie has to confess to something as minor as forgetting to tell him she has met with a friend,’ says a source. ‘If she commits a transgression against the moral code of their marriage, she has to tell Tom in writing, giving full details of the time and place and what happened.’

Katie is currently filming The Extra Man in New York but will return to Los Angeles in May to try for her second child.

Poor Suri Cruise

The 2-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise doesn’t seem to get much playtime with other toddlers. A local spy who’s seen Suri around other children says, “Whenever she sees kids, she gets excited and runs up to them and hugs them as if she never gets to see kids her own age. There’s not a lot of socialization there.” Indeed, almost every day there are different shots of Suri with her mother – always shopping and always alone.

How do you celebrate the second birthday of one of the most famous toddlers around? In a low-key way, if you’re part of the Cruise-Holmes family.

Suri Cruise turned 2 on April 18, and parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes decided not to have an over-the-top soiree, but a small gathering just for family instead. The party, held in L.A., featured a big coloring area and “everyone at the party wrote birthday wishes and colored on a big card that Suri will have forever,” according to an insider.

Practically every family member made the trip to the West Coast to help celebrate. Specifically, Holmes’ siblings and her parents were on hand, and on the Cruise side of the family, Tom’s kids Bella and Connor. His sisters and parents were there, too.

A cake decorated with butterflies was the desert of choice for blowing out the candles. But that’s not it — the family hit the lanes for a bowling after party once the initial celebrating ended.

Crushed by the weight of her marriage to Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes is striking out on her own — and she’s determined to take their daughter, Suri, with her to New York City. But insiders say that Tom’s having none of it.

In the new issue of Star — on newsstands now — we report on the latest at Camp Cruise. According to our sources, Katie, who was offered a role on Broadway, is trying to break away from her controlled life under the watchful eyes of her husband and move to Manhattan in what will be a sort of trial separation.

“She desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there’s no way Tom is going to let her take Suri away,” an insider tells Star. “There’s no way he’ll allow it. He just doesn’t want Katie — or Suri — out of his sight for long. He told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her.”

Further, the couple’s tug of war over their daughter has intensified as of late.

“Tom wants to call all the shots when it comes to Suri,” says an insider. “He has a lot of rules, and there’s conflict.”

With all this drama going on with her parents, adorable little Suri — who turns 2 on April 18 — seems to be getting lost in the shuffle and spends much of her time with nannies instead of her parents.

“She gets a lot of attention,” notes another source. “But every child wants to be with their parents — there is no substitute.”
