Tracey Edmonds

Who’s The Boss?

TRACEY Edmonds broke up with Eddie Murphy right before they were about to make their Bora Bora wedding legal because Murphy became bossy and physically intimidating, and insisted his mother accompany them on their honeymoon. “That was kind of the last straw,” said a friend of the beautiful bride. “She was happy to sign a prenup – she has her own money. She was very accommodating. But then it was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Eddie became very controlling and they got into a huge fight. He started screaming at her and grabbed her. She was scared.” The friend added, “She was even willing to change her name to Tracey Murphy, and all the wedding invites and place cards had her labeled as such.” A rep for Edmonds declined to comment, while a rep for Murphy said, “We won’t comment any further on this.” Last week, Murphy said, “After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forgo having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further . . . we have decided to remain friends.” We doubt there’s much friendship left.

The wedding ceremony between Eddie Murphy and film producer Tracey Edmonds two weeks ago was only symbolic – and that’s as far as they plan to go, they announced Wednesday.
Murphy, 46, and Edmonds, 40, traded vows on New Year’s Day on a private island off Bora Bora in French Polynesia in a ceremony that was not legally binding.
“After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forgo having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further,” said a statement on behalf of both Murphy and Edmonds issued by publicist Arnold Robinson.
“While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends,” the statement said.
The statement did not clarify whether the two remained a couple. In an e-mail exchange, Robinson said he could not comment beyond the statement.
Murphy has six children from previous relationships. He and Edmonds, whose credits include “Dreamgirls” and “Beverly Hills Cop,” began dating last year. They became engaged in July.

Just two weeks after their wedding, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have split, Access Hollywood has learned.
The former couple’s marriage lasted just three days, a source told Access.
Murphy and Edmonds released the following statement to Access on Wednesday:
“After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further. While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.â€

They began dating fall 2006 and were engaged in July.
The wedding ceremony in Bora Bora was a spiritual ceremony and the couple planned on having a legally binding ceremony upon returning to the U.S. However, since that ceremony never took place, the couple was never officially married to begin with.
Murphy, 46, has five children from his previous marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy, who filed for divorce in 2005. He also has a daughter with Spice Girl and “Dancing With the Stars†alum Mel B.
Edmonds, a 40-year-old movie producer, has two sons from her 12-year marriage to R&B singer Kenneth “Babyface†Edmonds. As head of Edmonds Entertainment, she has produced the film and television series “Soul Food.â€
Murphy’s film credits include “Dreamgirls,†“The Nutty Professor,†“Shrek†and “The Beverly Hills Cop†franchise.

Edmonds, 40, gave her bridesmaids gold and diamond earrings from XIV Karats in Beverly Hills, and Murphy, 46, gave his groomsmen D.Atlantis watches.
The wedding was designed by event designer Colin Cowie, who created a gazebo on the beach made out of 6,000 shells for the ceremony. After the ceremony, guests celebrated at a private dinner and after-party, where DJ Darrin Ebron from Los Angeles kept the guests dancing.
The wedding cake was by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings in Napa, CA, and featured four layers in whites and cream with handmade sugar cymbidium and dendrobium orchids.
