Usher Needs Some Privacy

USHER found out the hard way that the paparazzi presence in Miami is becoming just as bad as in LA. The R&B crooner went down there last week with his toddler kid Usher V to relax and spend some father-son quality time on the beach, but was immediately bombarded by the snappers. Usher put his 10-month-old offspring back on a plane to Atlanta and later that night, while hanging out at Mansion, told friends, “I was rattled — I just need to unwind.”

As brutal details emerged in the Chris Brown-Rihanna assault case, observers were left to wonder why some celebrities who spoke out against Brown’s behavior later softened their stances.

Exhibit 1-A is Usher, who chastised Brown for not showing remorse and instead going water-skiing in Miami over the weekend.

But then Usher soft-pedaled, issuing a March 3 statement saying, “The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion. I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved.”

What? The state of California has an issue with Brown’s behavior but Usher doesn’t?

Not necessarily. According to a friend of Rihanna’s, the apology is meant as a sign of support for her, not Brown.

“Everybody loves Rihanna,” the friend said. “They don’t necessarily want her with Chris, but the second it was clear she was back with him, all of her friends rallied around her, stopped saying bad things about Chris. It might be what they’re thinking, but more than anything she needs support. And that’s what she’ll get.”

Chris Brown has drawn fire from the media and from fans for the photos of him that emerged over the weekend buzzing around in Miami on a jet ski during what was called his “reconciliation” weekend with girlfriend Rihanna.

And in a recently posted video, Usher joins the criticism of Brown, who is slated to face charges on Thursday for the alleged incident on February 8, in which he is reported to have battered Rihanna on a Los Angeles street.

In a video posted by producer Jermaine Dupri, Usher says that instead of riding around on jet skis, the 19-year-old singer should “have some remorse” for the alleged incident. The comments in the clip, part of JD’s “Living the Life” series, were recorded on Monday, according to comments from Usher, who is shown huddled around a laptop discussing a series of photos with some other men in a recording studio.

“I’m a little disappointed in this photo,” Usher says about the shots of Brown, as singer/songwriter Johnta Austin bounces around the room and makes some off-color jokes about boxing. “After the other photo [of Rihanna's bruised face posted by TMZ last month]? C’mon, Chris. Have a little bit of remorse, man. The man’s on jet skis? Like, just relaxing in Miami?”

The comments are a rare moment of near-seriousness in the eight-minute video, which primarily features the three clowning in the studio with friends and talking about a recent photo of Christina Milian.

On Monday, public-relations guru Howard Bragman said the images of Brown relaxing and playing in the midst of the reported reunion with Rihanna would not have been “the first image I would want out there of him,” and a number of the hundreds of readers who responded to the initial news that Brown and Rihanna were at a Miami home owned by Diddy spending their first weekend together since the alleged incident, agreed.

Usher’s rep could not be reached for comment at press time.

The wife of R&B singer Usher was released from a Sao Paulo hospital after spending 11 days recovering from a cardiac arrest she suffered shortly before undergoing plastic surgery, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Tameka Raymond left the Sirio-Libanes Hospital Monday night, said the spokeswoman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, per hospital policy.

The spokeswoman declined to release any details of Raymond’s treatment at the family’s request. Representatives for Usher had no immediate comment.

Ellen Dastry, a spokeswoman for the doctor who was to perform the operation, said last week that Raymond suffered a cardiac arrest while being anesthetized ahead of a “simple liposuction” at Sao Paulo’s Sao Rafael Hospital.

Raymond was revived in less than a minute with heart massage, and was placed in an induced coma before being taken to the intensive-care unit, said Dastry, spokeswoman for plastic surgeon Silvio Sterman.

She was then transferred to the posh and better-equipped Sirio-Libanes Hospital to recover.

Usher was supposed to perform at music mogul Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party, but backed out to come to Brazil to be with his wife.

The 30-year-old R&B star and his wife were married in August 2007. They have two sons, 2-year-old Usher Raymond V and 2-month-old Naveid Ely Raymond.

Usher’s wife is still being treated in a Brazilian hospital 10 days after suffering complications from plastic surgery.

The R&B singer has repeatedly been photographed this week visiting his spouse of a little more than a year Tameka Foster Raymond at the prestigious Hospital Sirio Libanes, where she is recooperating after suffering a heart attack during a liposuction procedure.

Despite Raymond’s lengthy stay, reps for the hospital and the “Love in this Club” singer are keeping mum on her current condition.

“The patient’s family has requested complete privacy on the case and we cannot comment on her current health situation,” a rep for the hospital tells the Daily News, adding, “like any patient she will be released eventually.”

Usher’s publicist and mother refused to comment.

Raymond’s complications could be related to the fact that she gave birth to her second son Naviyd Ely only two months ago – not four months ago as she reportedly told her surgeon. Her older son Usher Raymond V is a year old.

According to José Tariki, president of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, a patient should only undergo liposuction six to eight months after giving birth.
“After a pregnancy, the abdomen muscle is violently stretched, becomes flacid and swells,” he says. “The patient needs six to eight months to return to normal and only then can undergo surgery.”

Brazil’s most popular news-variety program “The Fantastics” reported Sunday that Raymond had told her Brazilian surgeon Silvio Sterman that her youngest son was born four months ago.

According to the show, Raymond is still recovering from her surgery and is taking antibiotics to fight a lung infection, which is common in these cases.
Sterman’s Web site boasts of many foreign patients including a friend of Raymond, who recommended the surgeon.

Usher canceled a scheduled performance at record mogul Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy bash on Nov. 7 to fly to his wife’s side. According to “Access Hollywood,” a neurosurgeon was also flown to Brazil to tend to Raymond.

The singer’s rep released a statement soon after, which said Raymond was “suffering complications from a routine surgery,” adding, “no further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time.”

Usher’s wife, Tameka Foster, suffered a heart attack in Brazil before undergoing plastic surgery, the Associated Press reports.

Foster, 37, checked into the Sao Rafael Hospital on Feb. 6 for a “simple liposuction,” says Ellen Dastry, spokeswoman for plastic surgeon Silvio Sterman.

Foster went into cardiac arrest while being anesthetized, “but was revived in less than a minute by heart massage,” Dastry adds.

She was then placed into an induced coma before being transferred into an intensive care unit “to avoid unnecessary complications.”

She’s currently recovering in Sao Paulo’s better-equipped Sirio-Libanes Hospital, added Dastry, who did not release any additional details.

Usher, 33, cancelled his performance at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Gala last Saturday to rush to Brazil to be with his wife. His rep told Usmagazine.com Monday that she was in “stable condition after suffering complications from routine surgery.”

Foster and Usher wed in August 2007. They are parents to two-month-old Naveid Ely Raymond and Usher Raymond V, 15 months. Foster also has three sons from a prior relationship.

Usher has canceled his performance at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party due to a family emergency, Access Hollywood has learned.

His wife, Tameka, is in Brazil and has experienced complications from plastic surgery. A neurosurgeon, Dr. Gabriel Hunt of LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, is on the way to South America.

A rep for Usher had no comment at this time. Josh Groban filled in for the R&B star at Davis’ annual event.

Foster, a 37-year-old stylist, recently gave birth to the couple’s second child, Naviyd Ely Raymond. The couple’s first child, Usher Raymond V, was born in November 2007.

The couple announced their engagement in February 2007, marrying on August 3 of that year.

WHILE Usher is in Las Vegas recording his next album, his wife, Tameka Foster, is not very happy about being left in Atlanta with their kids, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely. “Tameka is really upset that she was asked not to come to Vegas with Usher in December when he left to work on his next album,” said an industry insider. “She tried to have so much influence over his last project that this time, the people involved with the record said she had to stay away.” Our tipster added, “Tameka’s keeping her distance seems to be helping Usher,” who recently got a full-length arm tattoo featuring various members of his family. His rep insists, “Usher and Tameka have a solid relationship and she understands the demands of his recording schedule. He’s been in the studio with Pharrell Williams and Jermaine Dupri working hard on his next album.”

Usher and wife Tameka have welcomed another boy, his rep confirms said exclusively.

Naviyd Ely Raymond was born at 2:33 a.m. Wednesday and weighed 5 lbs, 13 oz. Their first son, Usher Raymond V, turned 1 on Nov. 26.

“Tameka and the baby are doing fine,” a rep for the singer tells Us.

The R&B singer, 30, confirmed he and Foster, whom he wed in 2007, were expecting last month.

“Definitively. We’re actually expecting, if you didn’t hear, in December” he told Access Hollywood. “One of the best Christmas gifts there is to have!”

A month before the boy was born, he told Access that they said they still hadn’t settled on a name.

“There are a few names,” he added. “But if you guys have any unique one, please feel free to hit me up. Let me know.”
