Whitney and her entire family were at the Dodgers last night as “The City” star threw out the first pitch. A huge Dodgers fan, Whitney blogged “I’m pretty proud of myself…for someone who hasn’t played in quite a few years I think I did pretty well ;)

A source has said that the star of MTV’s “The City” was beaten out for a promotion by co-worker Olivia Palermo, who got the plum job of working as a publicist for DvF in London. Port is said to be filming scenes for the show’s second season at p.r. firm People’s Revolution — her previous employer. We’re also told that Elle creative director Joe Zee, who made a cameo appearance on “The City” last season, will be back for the six-episode second run with a larger part. An MTV spokesperson tells Page Six, “We are currently shooting the next season of episodes, and since the show is in production, we don’t comment on upcoming story lines.” Asked whether Zee is joining the show, a rep for Elle said, “Unfortunately, we can’t comment on this.”

TWO of the pretty stars of the MTV reality series “The City” are horrified because producers are pressuring them to get into a hair-pulling, claws-bared catfight to boost the show’s ratings.

It’s no secret that MTV producers stage (or as they say, “reshoot”) some scenes in their “reality” shows such as the Los Angeles-based “The Hills.”

But according to an insider on the Manhattan-based “The City,” they’re taking it to another level with stars Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port, who both “work” in public relations for Diane von Furstenberg.

“MTV wanted the girls to get into a physical fight at the DVF office,” said our source. “Olivia was very disturbed by the request . . . The girls were both really uncomfortable.”

The source added that Port and Palermo both threatened to walk off the set if they were forced to participate in a fight scene.

“Even though people think their jobs at DVF aren’t real, both girls are really excited to be working in the fashion world, and wouldn’t want to be seen getting into a fight in a professional setting,” the source said.

“MTV responded to the protests by turning the ‘fight’ scene into an altercation at work, in which Olivia gets upset at Whitney’s boyfriend Jay [Lyon] for showing up to a fund-raiser underdressed” – although, in fact, our insider says, “Olivia could care less about what Jay is wearing.

“It’s very hard for her because the show wants to portray her as mean and bitchy, and she just wants to be herself,” our source said. “It’s been really tough for her, but she can’t quit because she’s under contract.”

MTV said, “On Friday we shot with Whitney and Olivia at DVF, during which time no physical altercation took place. We would never encourage our talent to engage in that type of negative behavior.”

Palermo’s rep said, “Of course the show is edited to heighten the entertainment value.”

Let’s face it “The Hills” wasn’t exactly a real reality show, but it is already starting to look as though Whitney Port’s spin-off “The City” is even more err, scripted.

Port and co-star Olivia Palermo both attended Grey Goose’s Ball for Charity in New York last week where they filmed the highly anticipated MTV show. According to our inside source, every moment the girls weren’t repeating the same scene over and over (which went on for more than two hours) they excitedly stood behind the lens and chatted happily like close friend, despire the fact that they’re portrayed as enemies on the show.

Meanwhile host Adrian Grenier told the audience during the auction that he would do a shot at the bar with every person who pledged $5,000 to fund a water well for the organization. And from what we’re told, the “Entourage” star had quite a few promises to keep …

Grenier will be jetting into Australia next week with his new-wave folk band The Honey Brothers where they are scheduled to perform at numerous high-profile gigs and if his visit Down Under last year is anything to go by, he’ll have plenty of ladies to occupy his time in every city for every different night of the week. The 32-year-old’s ex-girlfriend Isabel Lucas touched down in her homeland last week to spend Christmas with her family and according to a pal, plans to stay well away from Grenier and his groupies.

In this week’s Page Six Magazine – Whitney Port has left The Hills of Los Angeles for The City—her very own NYC reality show. But in her search for love, success and fame, can this bubbly blonde TV star be the next Carrie Bradshaw?

On her cast mates from The Hills:

“I still talk to them every now and again—obviously, we’ve been part of such a big thing together, so we’re close in that way—but I was never too close with Audrina and Heidi. But Lauren and I talk. If anybody knows what I’m going through right now it’s her.”

On how she came to be on reality TV:

“I had an interview [for an internship at Teen Vogue] and then got a phone call from MTV a couple of days later. They were like, ‘We’re shooting this documentary-style TV show about girls growing up in L.A. and the fashion industry, blah blah blah’ and I was like, ‘OK that’s interesting, whatever.’ And the next thing I knew they wanted to cast me on the show. But I was really just trying to get the job at Teen Vogue!”

On why the guys in New York City are better than in L.A.:

“I was recently in L.A., and I couldn’t help but think, ‘Oh my gosh, everyone is kind of the exact same here.’ You have all these guys in the entertainment industry who are just trying to be smooth and super-cool. The guys [in New York] are [still] trying to be cool—guys do that everywhere—but they’re more confident and they know what they want.”

On handling her critics:

“I’ve never really noticed anyone giving me a hard time. Maybe they are and I’m just naïve. But I figure if I just stay true to myself and I am the Whitney that I’ve always been, people will look at me not as Whitney from the show, but as a human being.”

NOW that Whitney Port has fled LA for NYC, she’s gotten a taste of what Manhattan men are like, and she’s impressed. The blond starlet of MTV’s “The City” tells this Sunday’s Page Six Magazine: “I was recently in LA, and I couldn’t help but think, ‘Everyone is kind of the exact same here.’ You have all these guys in the entertainment industry who are just trying to be smooth and super-cool. The guys in New York . . . they’re more confident and know what they want.”

The much-talked-about Hills spinoff featuring Whitney Port has been picked up by MTV, sources confirm to E! News exclusively.

“They will start shooting immediately,” says a show source, who confirms the pickup just happened within the last two weeks—though the network has not officially confirmed.

The series, set to begin airing in early 2009, will feature Port’s life in New York City, where she is now working for Diane von Furstenberg. (You know, that nice lady from the American Express commercials.)

Looking back, we realize Whitney’s role on The Hills could be called superfluous…

While we loved the strange faces she would often rely on in favor of words and the general disinterest in her voice when she was forced to ask Lauren questions about text messages from Heidi, we’re a bit skeptical as to how that will work as an actual show. But it’s not like that will stop us from watching!

We only hope this isn’t some sort of sign that MTV is also going to force a Speidi spinoff on us. That we will not stand for.

Could Whitney have left the People’s Revolution, the PR firm she works for on the show?

Amidst rumors that Whitney may be getting her own spin-off, a source at Diane von Furstenberg confirms to OTR that the reality “star” (we use the term “star” loosely) started working for the clothing designer yesterday.

The Hills’ least dramatic lady has begun interning in the PR department at Diane von Furstenberg. Meanwhile MTV has been busy filming at the company’s offices this week. Not only that, but the designer hired Whitney’s friend as well… suspicious. Sounds like a set-up.

If all goes well (meaning high ratings of course), MTV may be giving Port her own show next year. Could she be bidding farewell to California and hello to the Big Apple permanently?

Watch out NYU students, MTV may be coming to town and bringing with it spoiled, whiny drama queens.

Not that you’d notice a few more.
