Wolfgang Puck & Gelila Assefa Wed in Italy
Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck married handbag designer Gelila Assefa on Saturday in a three-day celebration on the Italian island of Capri.
The couple hosted a rehearsal dinner under the lemon trees at Ristorante Da Paolino on Friday night and a wedding reception for 250 guests the next day on a hillside above the Grand Hotel Quisisana. The bride wore a J. Mendel gown and custom-designed Christian Louboutin shoes.
Famous for his Oscar parties, Puck brought his own catering team to prepare a menu using the lemons of Capri for his 58th birthday brunch Sunday at Quattro Passi Restaurant. Guests took a quick boat ride from the hotel to the party site.
Puck and Assefa, 38, met in Los Angeles, where Puck first established Spago 25 years ago and where Assefa was studying. They have two sons, Oliver, 2, and Alexander, 7 months.
Puck has two other sons from his first marriage, to business partner Barbara Lazaroff.
