Zac Efron was rushed to L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center today after suffering from appendicitis.
“Zac had his appendix removed and is recuperating,” his rep said.

The High School Musical star, 20 — who recently dismissed rumors that he is gay — will star in the upcoming film Seventeen and Disney’s third installment of High School Musical.
High School Musical hottie Zac Efron is sounding off about rumors that he is gay.
“I know it’s very addictive to read that kind of stuff. It’s entertainment,” he tells the January/February issue of Details, citing Perez Hilton, who has often questioned the actor’s sexuality. “He’s doing something right. I think he does a great job.”
Pausing, he adds,”Honestly, if the worst he can say about me is that I’m gay, then I think I’ll be fine. I can handle it.”
(He recently went on a date with HSM co-star and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.)
Efron also spoke out about the fact that his upcoming comedy Seventeen was created as a star vehicle for him.
“It’s weird, but I don’t feel like I deserve any of the attention,” he says. “There’s really nothing but one audition for a Disney channel movie that separates me from 2,000 other brown-haired, blue-eyed guys in L.A., you know?”
But the actor says he is in it for the long haul.
“These days everyone is just waiting for me to f—k up,” Efron, 20, says. “I’m not gonna give anyone the satisfaction of that.”

No dice, because Zac quickly clarifies, “I’ve never experienced a washing-machine kiss, but I’ve heard about them.”
But Zac, 20, saves his biggest bit of advice for the kisser, not the kissee: “Go easy and take your time. Don’t try to swallow the person you’re kissing by opening your mouth so wide!” Ah yes, the dreaded anaconda-kiss. DISNEY honchos still plan to turn their made-for-TV hit “High School Musical” into a real movie, but they may have to do it without the TV version’s major stars, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. A tipster says Disney is “only offering them $1 million each. Zac and Vanessa aren’t going to do it.” A studio spokesperson told us, “We are still in negotiations with the entire cast, but we don’t comment on the specifics of negotiations.”
