Singer/actress Eve reveals her fitness secrets and how she toned up in record time for her role as a roller derby chick in her upcoming flick Whip It.

After her three week skate camp to prepare for her upcoming role…
“I used a lot of Tiger Balm. I felt like an 80-year-old woman.”

Mindset change at the big “3” “0”…
“Everybody does an evaluation at 30. I became a lot more body-conscious.”

Find your training soulmate…
“Working with trainer is intimate, [as it is with] a hairdresser.”

Mix up your routine…
“We don’t do a lot of weights, but we do a lot of pushups, crunches, and squats—exercises that let me use my own body weight. We work out in a private gym, but we’re about to start incorporating outdoor things into my routine. I can’t wait, because I love being outside.”

Acknowledge your weak points, then work around them…
“My trainer texts me when I’m away, asking how my training is going, but I’m horrible [about working out on the road]. It’s unfortunate, but I need adult supervision.”

Set realistic goals…
“I’m not trying to be super skinny. I want to keep my booty in order. When you’re 23, you can lose five pounds in a week because your metabolism is fast. I don’t want to do unhealthy things to lose weight fast for, say, a photo shoot. I do want to feel amazing in my clothes, though.”

Choose your calories carefully…
“I drink according to calories. I like vodka sodas, which most trainers say is the best thing to have if you’re going to drink, because one is only around 70 calories. I don’t do the mixed drink thing because it’s too much sugar, but I’ll have wine. When I do, I try to cut out the dessert or skip the bread at dinner.”
