Actor Joaquin Phoenix stunned a US chat show host into awkward silence by giving abrupt two and three-word answers, chewing gum and sitting with his head bowed during a bizarre interview.
The Oscar-nominated star was supposed to be plugging his new movie Two Lovers – also featuring Gwyneth Paltrow – when he appeared on David Letterman’s show.
But he left the American talkshow king speechless by showing no interest in the interview, having apparently retired from acting to pursue a rap music career.
