Actor Josh Hartnett has been awarded £20,000 damages after the Daily Mirror alleged he had a “sexual dalliance” in the library of a London hotel.

The heartthrob, who has recently starred in a West End production of Rain Main, sought damages for defamation over the tabloid’s story.

And following a London hearing today, he has been awarded a substantial sum in recompense for the newspaper’s claims.

The Mirror had claimed the Pearl Harbor star was caught on CCTV having sex with a woman in the library of the Soho Hotel.

It also claimed hotel staff had seen the tryst and that the Hollywood star had received a verbal warning from them.

Hartnett’s legal team said in September the allegations were “not only untrue but a complete fabrication” but also “defamatory and unsubstantiated”.
