From the “You’re kidding, right?” file comes this little tidbit from Green Bay, Wis. Apparently, the general manager of local Fox affiliate WLUK-TV heard that Seinfeld is one of Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning’s favorite shows. So, what is he going to do on the eve of this Sunday’s big game between the visiting G-Men and the hometown Packers?
He’s pulling the show from the schedule. Yes, really.
“We heard that Eli Manning, one of his favorite shows is Seinfeld,” said station general manager Jay Zollar, “and we know that laughter is good medicine, and we decided that we’re not going to give that to him.”
The station’s website has given its viewers a choice of what to broadcast instead at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, when the show is normally scheduled. Options include a re-run of a local football program called Inside the Huddle, an episode of M.A.S.H., an infomercial starring NFL hall-of-famer Emmitt Smith, and a special on legendary Packers coach Vince Lombardi.
The Giants-Packers game will be shown live on Fox at 6:30 p.m. EST on Sunday. Hopefully Eli will get his ass handed to him!
