Monica Chairez, daughter of Nevada Supreme Court candidate Don Chairez, was seen barely dressed on Playboy.com as the Coed of the Week. Much to the surprise of many, she told the Las Vegas Review Journal that her “family has always known about this and are 100% supportive of me.” Momlogic.com spoke to Monica’s mother, Maria, who tells a different story.
Maria admitted, “We live in Las Vegas. It probably wasn’t the healthiest decision for my husband and I to bring our two daughters out here. It was a big mistake. It’s hard to raise healthy children when you see boobs and butts on every corner.” She continued, “My daughter is 21. She makes her own decisions and has to live with the consequences. She told me she was thinking about doing this. Monica wants to be in journalism and thought doing this would somehow help her. I was not in support of it and tried to talk her out of it. I think I am like many parents–I try to talk to them, and they don’t listen to you. It doesn’t matter what education or social position you have–kids are going to do what they want to do. She will suffer the consequences. It’s a frustration I feel every mom has felt. I was out of town and just returned when someone told me on Saturday about what my daughter did. I was shocked!”
Dealing with a daughter gone wild is one thing, but how do you deal if you’re a parent in the limelight? We talked to psychologist Dr. Lisa Boesky, author of When to Worry: How to Tell if Your Teen Needs Help–and What to Do About It and public affairs consultant Kerman Maddox for guidance, click the link below for the reasons why kids want their parents to put them #1.
