Oprah Winfrey may be in the business of making people’s books famous, but there’s one biography she reportedly won’t be pushing – the story of her life as told by her father, Vernon Winfrey! When the news broke at the end of May that her dad was penning a tell-all about her troubled childhood, titled Things Unspoken, a source tell Star, Oprah was shocked. “She read him the riot act and told him he could not write about her in any kind of book,†says the source. Vernon’s book would reportedly describe Oprah’s difficult youth. The 74-year-old has been quoted as calling his daughter an “out of hand and unruly child.†But the jury’s still out on whether the book will or won’t be written. “Vernon’s a tough old cookie, but he knows better than to get on the wrong side of Oprah,†says a source. “He lives in a $1.4 million mansion in a gated community – paid for by Oprah.†Another source reveals, “Vernon still says he’s going to write his autobiography – but he would only say nice things about Oprah. She’s been so good to the entire family that to disrespect her in any way would be a terrible betrayal.†Vernon himself was tight-lipped. “I’ve only got two words to say about the whole thing,†he tells Star. “No comment.â€
