The former ‘Friends’ star – who has repeatedly been romantically linked to her ‘The Bounty Hunter’ co-star since they filmed the movie together last year – has revealed it was the 40-year-old Hollywood hunk’s idea to whisk her and a group of friends away to Mexico for her 41st birthday.
Jennifer – who reaches the age on Thursday – explained: “He said to me, ‘You come to Mexico all the time and Mexico is really hurting right now because of the swine flu and the drug trafficking and all of this sort of stuff but it’s not all of Mexico.’
“These people survive on us coming down and spending money and coming here to these beautiful places. It sort of made sense to say, ‘Hey, let’s help out Mexico.’ Let’s shout out to these kids in Tijuana at El Faro and have a good time. That’s sort of our birthday celebration this year.”
The pair were joined on the trip by their celebrity friends Courteney Cox-Arquette, Jason Bateman, Sheryl Crow and Kathy Najimy.
The group soaked up the sun on a boat and stayed at the One and Only Palmilla resort in Cabo San Lucas.
Last month, Jennifer and Gerard reignited romance rumors after they were seen getting close backstage at the Golden Globe Awards.
The actress has now praised the “lovely” actor for his “self-deprecating” manner.
She told ‘Access Hollywood’ presenter Billy Bush: “He’s a guy’s guy, but he’s absolutely lovely and sort of self-deprecating. What you see is what you get. We look at work the same way… we always have each other’s back.”
Despite enjoying her birthday celebrations, Jennifer is seemingly in denial about hitting 41, she joked: “Mmm 31, pssh. It’s quite lovely I have to say. Hitting 30 was a hump but, you know, 31 is fabulous. It really does get better doesn’t it?”
Model Brooklyn Decker landed the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover this year.
The 22-year-old wife of tennis star Andy Roddick said being chosen for the front is “the news of a lifetime.”
The cover photo of Decker smiling in a yellow bikini is a departure from the more sultry look that SI had gone for the past few years, she said. She compared it to covers from the 1980s or ’90s, when Elle Macpherson won her covers with a friendly, sun-loving look.
SI keeps the cover photo a secret – even from the models – until less than 24 hours before it’s revealed. Decker said now the mad dash was on to find outfits for TV appearances that will come with the gig. (Her closet of swimsuits wasn’t right for winter, she joked.)
As for Roddick? He’s relieved the five-time SI Swimsuit model can check the cover-girl box and won’t be as nervous next February when the next edition comes out.
Decker says she is an avid sports fan, and, as a teenager in North Carolina, ran hurdles for the track team, played soccer and participated in competitive cheerleading. She has no great diet or exercise secret, she said, other than to be active and eat sensibly.
“I still don’t know the formula for the cover,” she added. “It’s luck, the perfect suit and perfect storm to get it.”
Decker said, though, that because Sports Illustrated encourages a natural look – less makeup, toned muscles, curvy shape – it’s easier to get a great photograph. “This celebrates the girls and their personalities. I think it’s why they get such beautiful pictures.”
Little more than a week ago, Lil Wayne was reinforcing his place in rap’s pantheon with a commanding performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony. His latest album, “Rebirth,” was officially released Feb. 2.
Now Lil Wayne, one of music’s biggest sellers and rap’s hottest stars, is poised to spend as much as the next year in a jail cell instead of a spotlight.
The Grammy-winning rapper was due to be sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in a gun possession case. His plea deal calls for a year in jail, though good behavior could shave that to as little as eight months.
“This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody can tell me what that’s like,” the rapper told Rolling Stone magazine for its latest issue. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.”
He’s likely to start serving his sentence immediately, making him the latest in a string of rap stars to do time after topping the charts.
His plea deal calls for him to serve his sentence not in state prison but in the city jail system, where rapper Foxy Brown spent about eight months in 2007 and 2008 for a probation violation involving a fight she had with manicurists in a nail salon.
Rapper Remy Ma spent several months in a city jail in 2008 while awaiting sentencing for shooting a woman outside a nightclub. She’s now serving an eight-year sentence in state prison.
City Department of Correction spokesman Stephen Morello wouldn’t discuss any arrangements being made to house Lil Wayne among the roughly 13,500 inmates in the massive Rikers Island complex and other jails. Most inmates are awaiting trial.
Some inmates, including Foxy Brown, are separated from the general population because of their celebrity or other reasons, but “there’s no special-inmates wing,” Morello said.
Lil Wayne’s attorney didn’t return telephone calls seeking comment Monday.
Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he illegally had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in July 2007. Police found the weapon when they stopped the bus after a Manhattan concert.
A rapper since he was a teenager, Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, became known for his voluminous output and collaborations with other artists.
His career has hit a peak in the last two years. His “Tha Carter III” led 2008 album sales with 2.8 million copies sold and featured such hits as the No. 1 smash “Lollipop.” His Grammys include 2008’s best rap solo performance award, for “A Milli.”

“When Conan started in 1993, it took him years to get an audience, and he did—a huge cult audience. But when you move to 11:30, things change—it’s starting over, and the network should have been patient and stuck with him. The truth is, I don’t think the failure is Conan’s show but Leno’s show at 10:00. Taking that 10:00 slot screwed them over, and the affiliates got pissed. Leno said he was gonna retire—I remember the day he announced it. Conan was my first big break. He put me on all the time. I played on the Conan soccer team. I have a place in my heart so special for him.”

Rapper Yo Gotti is fighting allegations of drug possession after his tour bus was stopped and searched by border authorities in Texas last week.
The hip-hop star, real name Mario Mims, and members of his entourage were arrested by Texas Border Patrol officers on Thursday when sniffer dogs identified “narcotics” on board the vehicle.
In video footage of the incident, which has been posted online, an officer can be seen telling the group, “Our canines alerted (us to) the presence of narcotics or concealed humans. I know there’s not concealed humans in there, so either someone has marijuana, cocaine or any type of illegal narcotic… even residue… (You’d) better let us know right now, it’ll make it easier for yourselves…”
Further details of Gotti’s arrest were unavailable.
It wasn’t the star’s first run-in with authorities – the rapper found himself in handcuffs last June after traffic police in Richmond, Virginia caught him with out-of-state licence tags, reports .
A pair of lusty Motley Crue fans were thrown out the band’s January 20, 2010 show in Winnipeg, Canada – for making love in the audience.
The couple spent four songs giving fans an eye-popping show as the band performed tracks like Motherf**ker of the Year, but when the unnamed man dropped his trousers, some rock devotees decided they had seen enough and reported the pair to security, who asked the lovers to leave.
Footage of the sex act was captured on a camera phone and was posted on YouTube.com on Monday.
One fan who watched the sex act has written to the Winnipeg Sun newspaper, claiming security “over-reacted” by kicking the couple out of the venue.
He writes, “It looked like a stripper show or something, but it wasn’t really all that bad.”
Former child television star Gary Coleman pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge related to a domestic violence incident last April.
In a deal with the prosecutor, Coleman entered the plea in Santaquin Justice Court on his 42nd birthday.
Court clerk Jane Swan says the original charge of domestic violence assault was dropped. No details of the April 18 incident are detailed in court documents, but defense attorney Randy Kester told The Associated Press that Coleman and his wife, Shannon Price, had an argument which got out of hand.
“No one was injured and no ambulances were called,” Kester said by phone. “It was just a disagreement.”
Judge Sharla Williams sentenced Coleman to 31 1/2 days in jail. The “Diff’rent Strokes” star will serve the time only if he fails to complete a domestic violence course and pay a $595 fine.
“I think it’s an exceptionally fair resolution,” Coleman’s attorney, Randy Kester, told the AP by phone. “He’s been under an extreme amount of stress.”
Kester said Coleman has suffered a string of health problems – dialysis for an ongoing kidney condition and heart surgery that was complicated by pneumonia last fall – and has struggled to find work.
Coleman was arrested Jan. 24 at home on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He spent a night in jail before a fan paid his $1,725 bail. Kester said Coleman missed the court appearance because he was in the hospital.
Coleman moved to Santaquin, about 65 miles south of Salt Lake City, in 2005, around the time he starred in “Church Ball,” a comedy based on basketball leagues formed by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He met Price on the movie set.
In December 2008, Coleman pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge stemming from an incident in a bowling alley parking lot three months earlier and was ordered to pay a $100 fine.
A personal injury lawsuit against Coleman and Price, 24, related to the same incident has been settled. Colt Rushton accused Coleman of hitting him with his truck after an altercation over photos.
“Diff’rent Strokes” aired in 1978-86. Coleman played Arnold Jackson, best known for the line, “Whatchu talkin’ ’bout, Willis?”
