Sean “Diddy” Combs is lying low after his high-profile birthday celebration

At songwriter Dallas Austin’s own birthday party at The Gates in Chelsea the other night, Diddy — who celebrated his 40th with 500 friends at the “Party of the Century” at the Plaza last week — declined to pose for photographers, explaining to one, “I’m keeping it low.”

Diddy stayed for a while chatting with Austin, a producer and songwriter for such stars as Michael Jackson, Pink, Madonna, Gwen Stefani and TLC.
