She Came, She Saw… She Left — Twice!

Now you see her — now you don’t!

Britney Spears flummoxed court officials and reporters this afternoon with a bizarre dance around the Los Angeles courthouse where her custody battle wages on.

After a morning session and lunch break, the pop tart, who was expected to show at today’s hearing, arrived at the courthouse, entering the building through an underground tunnel. Britney (pictured arriving at the courthouse this afternoon in a supershort lace minidress and accompanied by her beau Adnan Ghalib) surprisingly left shortly thereafter, prompting the court’s public information officer to tell the press: “She arrived, and left, and we don’t think she’s coming back.”

But since when is Britney predictable? Moments later, after circling the building a few times, the pop wreck came back to court, hopped out of her car, and then promptly hopped right back in.

The throngs of assembled journalists and photographers were in a word, stunned, by the mother-of-two’s behavior. As one reporter put it, “She can kiss her kids goodbye.”

Following her court fake-out, OK! reports that Brit and Adnan went to the Little Brown Church in Studio City. The small church is where Ronald and Nancy Reagan were married in 1952.

The couple then ate lunch at the Gaucho Grill, also in Studio City, before heading back to Brit’s Beverly Hills home.

UPDATE: Spears attorneys Anne Kiley and Sorrell Trope have left, leaving just Tara Scott behind to represent the singer. Public Information Officer Allen Parachini has announced there will be no Britney today, and despite the Judge having only seen four witnesses, possibly no need for the hearing to continue tomorrow. Court will adjourn shortly, at which point K-Fed attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan is rumored to be speaking to reporters. Stay tuned…
