For eight seasons on HBO’s Entourage, Adrian Grenier has played Vincent Chase, the pretty-boy actor dealing with the ups and downs of fame, while navigating life in Hollywood along with his three best friends. With the final season premiering this Sunday, July 24, Grenier is taking a look back at the series that, as he says, “defines an era.”

The actor talked to Parade.com about saying goodbye to Vince and the boys, what he has in common with his onscreen alter ego and more. Here are some highlights:

On the final season of Entourage
“It’s going to be great. Vince is trying to prove himself during the first couple episodes. He had a little bit of a slip in life, but he’s ready to get back on track and do better than ever. It’s really about trying to manage all of the fear in everyone else that he’s too vulnerable. He’s trying to prove that he’s back in charge and he’s going to be back on top.”

On shooting the final episode…
“It was very touching. Everyone was so sweet. It actually felt like the last day of school. It was hard to keep people focused. It was funny because the grown men on set were acting like children. Poor David Nutter [director] was trying to get everyone’s attention and get people to finish a scene, but when the end of school is near, it’s hard to really get people to do anything.”

On letting go of Vincent Chase.
“Vince has changed my DNA. I think there’s always going to be a little Vince with me at all times. Entourage really has and will continue to define an era.”

Find out what he’ll miss the most, how he’s happy with how the series ends and more:

Yesterday afternoon Bing Bar hosted The 2011 Creative Coalition Teachers Making a Difference Awards Luncheon presented by Bing. The purpose of the event was to recognize outstanding teachers and support for education. Cheryl Hines hosted the event as Adrian Grenier and Jeremy Piven were reunited with the teachers who made a difference in their lives. The event was truly moving as both actors reflected on how these teachers served as mentors and helped make them who they are today.

Adrian Grenier Reunited with High School Drama Teacher, his “Strong Force of Positive Influence.”
If you ask Mr. Shifman, a drama teacher at NY’s prestigious LaGuardia High School, what he thought then 11th/12th grade student Adrian Grenier would end up doing with his life, you’d be surprised by his answer. “He had long hair, was good looking… I figured he’d be a gigolo or Chip and Dales dancer” Schifman joked to actress Cheryl Hines at Bing Bar in Park City. The drama teacher was reunited with his former student Adrian Grenier during The Creative Coalition’s 2011 Teachers Making a Difference Awards Luncheon, an event presented by Bing to honor education’s heroes. Schifman, who Grenier calls his “strong force of positive influence” expressed how impressed he is with the talented actor Adrian has become. “Anything I would say about his career, he is doing it. He will be my mentor.” The greatest lesson Grenier learned? The “lesson of empathy. All of the selfish things you go through, the “me, me, me,” doesn’t have a place in mentoring.”

As far as becoming a gigolo, Grenier said “Well, Entourage is almost over…”

Jeremy Piven holds back tears while talking about his mother, his mentor
During an emotional afternoon at Bing Bar in Park City, Jeremy Piven fought back tears as he discussed what it was like having his own mother as his mentor. “I’m about to cry like a grandmother on my knees right now,” joked Piven, during The Creative Coalition’s 2011 Teachers Making a Difference Luncheon. “The hardest role I’ve ever had is not crying right now.” The purpose of the event was to join together actors with their teachers to pay tribute to education’s heroes. Fellow “Entourage” co-star Adrian Grenier paid tribute to his high school drama teacher as well. Mrs. Piven retold charming anecdotes of Jeremy’s training and childhood, including the time she learned he’d be performing his first Shakespeare role. “Did he read his lines? This is going to be a disaster,” she joked. Jeremy turned to the audience and said “this coming from the woman I studied under for 10 years.” As Piven presented his mother with the award, he stressed one last time how education runs deep in his family. “My mom grabbed Michelle Obama by the arm, looked her in the eyes and said ‘don’t forget about the arts.’”

The X-rated actress meets Grenier’s Vince Chase in a bar in the fifth episode and sticks around for the rest of next season. T

The plot was inspired by Charlie Sheen’s affair with Ginger Lynn in the late ’90s.

“You can’t believe she’s a porn star when you meet her,” Grenier told TV Guide.

Grey already went mainstream when she starred in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience” last year. “I wouldn’t have done this storyline if Sasha passed,” said “Entourage” creator Doug Ellin.

Adrian Grenier doesn’t have as easy a time getting girls in real life as his character, Vinnie Chase, does on “Entourage.”

We hear that the HBO star was flirting with SuperTrash designer and Dutch television personality Olcay Gulsen while at a Heineken party at 230 Fifth Ave. earlier this week.

When Grenier asked for her number, Gulsen gave it to him — but she changed one digit. A source told us, “She gave him the wrong number to play hard to get.” No word whether the strategy paid off.

The “Entourage” star, who was known to play the bongos while a student at Bard College, joined his new-wave folk band, the Honey Brothers, for an hourlong set.

“At one point, he brought a drum to the center of the stage and danced around while beating on it,” says a spy. “He also played recorder for one song.” Grenier left the venue wearing a furry lumberjack hat and a Velvet Underground T-shirt.

The “Entourage” star was at Miami Beach nightclub Rokbar late last week of fering up shots of Patrón and beer chasers to passing gaggles of girls in an attempt to get them to join his table. “He ended up leaving at 3 a.m. with a bunch,” says our spy. Earlier in the evening, Grenier and co-stars Rex Lee and Perrey Reeves helped kick off the opening of the Entourage bungalow at the W South Beach by spraying bottles of champagne at partygoers.
