The Rev. Al Sharpton will host a weekly syndicated TV program focusing on education. ESH Holdings, a new minority-owned multimedia company, says the half-hour news and information magazine, called “Education SuperHighway,” will target parents, educators and students.

Hosted by the well-known civil rights leader, the show will provide a forum for discussing educational issues, with political, business and social leaders taking part.

“Education SuperHighway” will debut on Oct. 10 in more than 160 U.S. markets. It will be taped in New York and Los Angeles.

The Rev. Al Sharpton has roped in some big names for his annual National Action Network fund-raiser/convention.

Mariah Carey — who had Sharpton’s support when Eminem attacked her a few years ago — will be honored Thursday night along with Wyclef Jean.

Bill Cosby will speak about education.

Attendees will include Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Model Veronica Webb and music mogul Andre Harrell will host a reception tomorrow for NAN’s new executive director, Tamika Mallory.

The Rev. Al Sharpton bumped into James Gandolfini in the elevator on his way to Def Jam/Island mogul L.A. Reid’s apartment the other night, and the two — who had never met before — had a quick chat.

The next day, when Sharpton arrived at his Harlem office, a three-pound salami was waiting with a nice card from the “God of Carnage” star.

The bombastic provocateur was said to be mulling how to reciprocate and had rejected the idea of sending Gandolfini some soul food from Sylvia’s as too obvious. Sharpton was leaning toward an album of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits.
