The powerful new trailer for In the Land of Blood and Honey written & directed by Angelina Jolie is below:

Synopsis:
Set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War that tore the Balkan region apart in the 1990s, In the Land of Blood and Honey tells the story of Danijel (Goran Kosti?) and Ajla (Zana Marjanovi?), two people from different sides of a brutal ethnic conflict. Danijel, a soldier fighting for the Serbs, and Ajla, a Bosnian held captive in the camp he oversees, knew each other before the war, and could have found love with each other. But as the armed conflict takes hold of their lives, their relationship grows darker, their motives and connection to one another ambiguous, their allegiances uncertain. In the Land of Blood and Honey portrays the incredible emotional, moral and physical toll that the war exerts both on individuals and people as a whole, and the terrible consequences that stem from the lack of political will to intervene in a society stricken with conflict.

The couple gave the money through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation to the Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid, which helps care for mothers who have been displaced from the war-torn nation.

Mohamed Dahir from the organization said the money would allow for an expansion of the Badbaado camp in Mogadishu – the capital city of Somalia – which takes in around 300 women and children every day.

Around 29,000 children under the age of five are thought to have died due to drought and famine in the country, and the United Nations claims 750,000 people are at risk of starving to death in the next few months.

Angelina – who raises six children, Maddox, 10, Pax, seven, Zahara, six, Shiloh, five, and three-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with ‘Moneyball’ star Brad – recently thanked Somali refugees for helping to inspire her and make her a better parent.

She said: “I’m so grateful – I don’t want to cry – to the refugee families that I have the honour and privilege to spend the last years with.

“From them I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned to be a better person, a better mother. They’ve inspired me by showing me the unbreakable strength of the human spirit.”

The 10-year-old adopted son of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is set to take the lead role in ‘Battling Boy’, a movie based on a graphic novel that is being produced by the actor’s Plan B company.

“The film is based on a graphic novel about the young son of a god who leaves his mountain-top home to fight monsters.

“It’s being produced by Brad’s Plan B production company.

“Maddox lives, eats and breathes movies and comic books, so Brad and Angelina thought he would be perfect for the starring role.”

Angelina has previously praised Maddox – the eldest of the six children she raises with Brad – as a “real intellectual”.

She said: “Maddox is a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically. He’s great at school, great at history.

“He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things.”

The ‘Tourist’ actress has also previously admitted she enjoys taking part in action movies because she wants her children to be impressed.

She has said: “The funny thing about having children is that now I am twice as motivated to do a cool stunt because my kids will like it.

“I’m very responsible these days not to be self-destructive because of my kids, but at the same time I have all the more reason to do all the cool things possible because I want to try and make my kids proud.”

The ‘Salt’ actress was given the honorary prize for her humanitarian efforts, and during the festival she also gave a screening of her directorial debut ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’, a love story set in the background of the Bosnian war in the 1990s.

Accepting the award at the city’s National Theatre on Saturday, Angelina professed her love for Bosnia and added the movie was a chance for people to understand what happened in the country during the bloody period of history.

She said: “I love this country. I will start crying if you don’t stop.

“This movie was a chance to bring attention to the situation that happened so long ago, and I hope that it brings attention and more dialogue to remind people what everybody here went through.

“I spent last year with some wonderful people from this country. I have never worked with such a disciplined and talented crew.”

Angelina’s long term-partner, 47-year-old actor Brad Pitt was also at the film festival.
‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’ is set to be released on December 23rd.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have moved into a house in what is becoming known as ‘Hollywood-on-Thames’ in the Richmond area of London. Angelina Jolie and Pitt have moved in just round the corner from Sandra Bullock, and the leafy suburb of London has just seen George Clooney move out. The typical rent is over $30,000 a month, and is used by a-list actors and actresses who need discreet access to London’s famous Shepperton Studios. Other top film stars that have rented there are Pirates of the Carribean star Johnny Depp and celebrity couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-jones.

Meanwhile, Jolie has been honoured at the Sarajevo Film Festival, reports the BBC, for her acting and “active engagement in the complexities of the real world”. Jolie makes her directorial debut with In the Land of Blood and Honey – a film that is set during the 1992-1995 Bosnian War, which is out in December 2011. She received a standing ovation as she picked up the honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award, and said: “I told Brad in the car I was afraid I was going to cry.” She has visted Bosnia several times as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations.

Angelina Jolie is planning her next family adventure. She told the Financial Times she wants to “cross the Sahara,” noting, “It takes 28 days . . . it would have to be on a camel. I wonder if I could do it in pieces and station the kids along the way.”

Jolie, who with husband Brad Pitt adopted three kids from overseas, also explained how she juggles her multicultural brood: “They all have their flags over their beds and their individual pride. We owe Vietnam a visit, because Pax is due. [Zahara] wants to get back to Africa, and Shiloh, too. So everyone takes their turns in their country.”

The ‘Salt’ star’s two boys â?? adopted Maddox, nine, and Pax, seven â?? both love eating the insects, treating them “like Doritos,” a brand of seasoned tortilla snacks.

She told the E! News network: “It’s their favorite thing. They ate them like Doritos, and they wouldn’t stop. They are like potato chips.

“I had to actually ban the cricket eating at a certain point because I was afraid they were going to get sick from eating too many!”

Crickets are a common fried delicacy in Cambodia â?? where Maddox was born and where he and his brother tried the insects and are also eaten in certain parts of Mexico.

Angelina â?? who also raises Zahara, six, Shiloh, five, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with partner Brad Pitt â?? is also partial to consuming bugs herself, revealing last year she likes to eat cockroaches, but even she admits there are a few Cambodian dishes she hasn’t plucked up the courage to eat yet.

She added: “I have yet to have the tarantulas on a stick or spider soup here. I don’t know if I can get around the fur, but you gotta try everything.”

The brunette beauty – who raises adopted kids Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, and Zahara, six, and biological children Shiloh, five, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with the actor – insists she has no plans to expand her family further, but knows this could change if she gets a sudden urge in the future.

She said: “We’re always open if it feels right, but we have a full house and at the moment, nothing has come clear to us.

“It’s the same, I suppose, as when somebody decides to get pregnant, there’s just a moment where something becomes clear to you and, at the moment, that’s not what we’re discussing.”

The ‘Kung Fu Panda 2′ star also admitted she has learned not to worry about her life so long as her children are happy and healthy.

She added: “I don’t know if I have found peace. But, especially when you have children, you wake up every morning and, if they are happy and they are healthy, then you have peace.

“You know that’s all you should be worried about.

“Then from there you work on all these other things that bother you and you try to fix injustices and the bigger issues in the world. But you kind of start from one simple thing to be grateful for.”

Actress Angelina Jolie paid a surprise visit to injured U.S. soldiers in Germany last week during a break from her promotional duties at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Hollywood star teamed up with officials at the United Service Organization, the non-profit group which provides support to American troops and their families, and stopped by the Ramstein Air Base on Friday.

During her trip, Jolie met with wounded soldiers awaiting flights back to the U.S. and delighted her military fans by posing for photos and signing autographs.

Patient Thomas Kunan says, “I got to talk to her for a couple of minutes. It put a smile on people’s faces; it’s really cool.”

Jolie returned to France after the brief air base visit to continue publicity for her new animated film Kung Fu Panda 2 and her directorial debut, In The Land of Blood and Honey.

She also supported partner Brad Pitt on the red carpet on Monday when he promoted new film Tree of Life at Cannes.
