Eliot Spitzer’s prostitute Ashley Alexandra Dupre is cashing in on the sex scandal.

The budding singer, 22, may have already banked an estimated $200,000 from online music downloads, the New York Post reports.

Dupre – who charged the disgraced New York Governor more than $4,000-a-month for her services – made two of her tunes, “What We Want” and “Move Ya Body,” available for purchase as 99-cent downloads on music site Amie Street shortly after the scandal broke. (Musicians can earn a 70 percent cut on download fees.)

“What We Want,” a pulsating dance tune, was also added to New York’s Z100 playlist on Thursday (she first streamed it on her MySpace page, which has gone on to receive more than 7 million hits).

But after listener response was low, it was yanked out of rotation, though it was still heard on the station as of late Friday.

Should her music career not take off, Dupre will have no problem finding gigs to fall back on, says Hustler Publisher Larry Flynt. (Hustler offered her $1 million to pose Friday.)

“She is no doubt going to do a book. There will probably be a movie,” he tells the Associated Press. “I think she is going to have so many offers coming in that it will probably be wishful thinking just to get in the door.”

You’ve Been Spitzed – The outrageous new video telling the tale of Client #9 and his dalliances with Emperor’s Club finest ‘Kristen’ aka
Ashley Alexandra Dupre.

They remember her as Ashley, the attractive cheerleader from a New Jersey town who seemed headed to anywhere but a headline-grabbing scandal.

Friends of the 22-year-old alleged high-priced call girl named “Kristen” are now rallying around the woman they knew as Ashley Youmans of Wall, N.J.

“We’re just trying to keep her head up and keep her strong, have her look at this as a positive,” high school friend Joe Pawlak, who spoke to her on Thursday, tells PEOPLE.

Pawlak, who graduated from New Jersey’s Wall High School Class of 2003, one year ahead of Ashley – who now uses the last name Dupré – says she’s only human and “people make mistakes.”

“She’s just trying to work through it,” says Pawlak.

Dupré was identified this week as the escort linked by federal authorities to N.Y. Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in humiliation.

Ashley Abruptly Left School
Bevin Doherty, who knew Ashley on the Pop Warner cheerleading squad in middle school, tells PEOPLE that, in contrast to statements Ashley made on her MySpace page about her home life, Ashley lived with her mom.

“Her mom would pick her up from cheering in middle school in a Jaguar,” says Doherty, who like others, assumed Ashley was wealthy. By high school, she was wearing designer clothes.

Set to graduate from the Class of ’04, Ashley abruptly disappeared near the end of her sophomore year.

“When she left high school,” said Doherty, “me and others thought she left to go get married. That’s what I was under the belief – that she met someone and had a ring and left to get married. We always wondered what happened to her. It’s not like she had no friends.”

A grade-school teacher of Ashley’s, Gerald Basiak, 58, recalls her as a “B-C student [who] really wasn’t focused in on anything.” Still, he remembers a kindness she showed toward a special-needs student. “She would spend time with this girl on the playground, walk around with her,” says Basiak.

As for Ashley’s being caught up in a scandal, “I would never expect this, there were never any indications of any problems at home,” he said.

The alleged prostitute known as “Kristen” in the New York governor sex scandal is a 22-year-old New Jersey native from a broken home who now worries what people will think of her, according to a newspaper report.

“I just don’t want to be thought of as a monster,” the woman, identified as Ashley Alexandra Dupre, tellss the New York Times. “This has been a very difficult time. It is complicated.”

Dupre has not been charged in the case.

According to her MySpace page, her first love is music – the page features one of her own recordings and lists Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Christina Aguilera and Lauryn Hill among her influences.

‘What Destroys Me, Strengthens Me’
Dupre (whose page features the quote, “What destroys me, strengthens me”) writes that she left a “broken family” at age 17, used drugs, was “broke and homeless” and “learned what it was like to have everything and lose it, again and again.”

“[I] learned what it was like to wake up one day and have the people you care about most gone,” she writes. “But I made it. I’m still here and I love who I am. If I never went through the hard times, I would not be able to appreciate the good ones. Cliché, yes, but I know it’s true.”

A source confirmed for the Times that Dupre is the “Kristen” identified in a federal affidavit as having a Feb. 13 rendezvous with Spitzer at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington.

Spitzer on Wednesday said he was resigning as governor.

Dupre declined to discuss with the Times her alleged work with Emperor’s Club V.I.P. escort agency. She also didn’t comment on Spitzer.

She says she now has trouble sleeping and is worried how she’ll pay her rent; the man she was living with “walked out on me” when she found out he had fathered two children.

Mother Speaks Out
She made a brief court appearance on Monday as a witness in the case against four people charged with operating the prostitution ring.

Her mother, Carolyn Capalbo, 46, tells the Times she was “shell-shocked” when her daughter called last week to say she had been working as an escort and was in trouble with the law.

“She is a very bright girl who can handle someone like the governor,” Capalbo said. “But she also is a 22-year-old not a 32-year-old or a 42-year-old and she obviously got involved in something much larger than her.”
