The actress confirmed she and Ashton were splitting on Thursday – shortly after it was alleged he had cheated on her with another woman – and she is said to be planning to claim part of his personal fortune, even though they signed a prenuptial agreement before their 2005 wedding.

At the time of their wedding Demi, 49, was said to have assets of $150 million, and a further $75 million from her divorce settlement with second husband Bruce Willis. Ashton, 33, was at the beginning of his career, and not personally wealthy, though he is now thought to command around $600,000 an episode for starring in ‘Two and Half Men’ and earn up to £4 million a year from various investments.

A source close to Demi said: “With a pre-nuptial agreement, Ashton should be sitting pretty.

“These agreements are designed to protect one’s earnings during the marriage as well as one’s pre-nuptial assets.
“But Demi is furious, raging in fact â?? you only have to look at every photo you see of her to see the toll Ashton’s cheating has taken on her.

“She wants to punish him financially because of the way he has broken her heart. She is talking about going after a share of what he has earned since their marriage on the grounds that she contributed to much of what he has achieved.

“She is going to give him a bitter fight and, whether or not she wins, it will be an expensive lesson for him.”
Demi and Ashton’s marriage was rocked when 23-year-old Sara Leal claimed the actor had sex with her at a San Diego hotel room in September. The couple are thought to have tried therapy sessions in an attempt to save their marriage, but Demi finally decided she couldn’t forgive Ashton.

The source added: “She was a wreck. She believes strongly in marriage and she really didn’t want to spend her middle years alone. But in the end, she just couldn’t see any way of making things work.”

Demi Moore is ending her marriage to fellow actor Ashton Kutcher, she told The Associated Press on Thursday. Moore, 49, and Kutcher, 33, were wed in September 2005.

The couple’s relationship became tabloid fodder in recent months as rumors swirled about Kutcher’s alleged infidelity.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,” she said in her statement to the AP.

The pair frequently used Twitter to communicate with each other as millions of fans followed along.

“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi,” Kutcher tweeted Thursday. “Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”

Moore said in 2007 that her relationship with the star of “That `70s Show” and “Punk’d” – who is 15 years younger than Moore – “caught us both by surprise.”

“If somebody would have said, `OK, here is the prediction: You’re going to meet a man 25 years old and he’s going to see being with you and having your three kids as a bonus,’ I would have said, `Keep dreaming,’” Moore said in a 2007 interview with Vanity Fair. “I think it caught us both by surprise, and particularly him.”

Kutcher became a stepfather to Moore’s three daughters – Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Belle – from her 13-year marriage to actor Bruce Willis. Moore and Willis divorced in 2000 but remained friendly. Moore and Kutcher were photographed socializing with Willis, and the couple attended Willis’ wedding to model-actress Emma Heming in 2009.

Moore and Kutcher created the DNA Foundation, also known as the Demi and Ashton Foundation, in 2010 to combat the organized sexual exploitation of girls around the globe. They later lent their support to the United Nations’ efforts to fight human trafficking, a scourge the international organization estimates affects about 2.5 million people worldwide.

Moore can be seen on screen in the recent films “Margin Call” and “Another Happy Day.” Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen on TV’s “Two and a Half Men” as is part of the ensemble film “New Year’s Eve,” set for release next month.

Kutcher’s publicist did not immediately respond to an e-mail and phone call seeking comment. No divorce papers had been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court as of Thursday afternoon.

Ashton Kutcher has shut down his Twitter.com account after sparking outrage by defending ousted college football coach Joe Paterno.

Paterno was fired from his role as head coach of the Pennsylvania State University football team on Wednesday amid the growing sex abuse scandal surrounding his former assistant Jerry Sandusky.

Paterno has come under fire for failing to take more action against Sandusky, who has been charged with molesting eight boys over a 15-year period.

Kutcher took to his Twitter page to question the board of trustees’ decision to fire Paterno, writing, “How do you fire Jo Pa? insult. no class. as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste.”

His comment prompted a flurry of angry messages from offended followers, with several criticizing Kutcher for his response in light of the charity he co-founded to end child sex slavery.

The Two and a Half Men star quickly deleted the post and closed his page, admitting he felt “awful” about his comment.

He tweeted, “As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case.

“As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won’t happen again.”

Ashton Kutcher stepped out with Danny Masterson Tuesday night, and although Kutcher’s wife, Demi Moore, was nowhere in sight, the former “That ’70s Show” stars stayed out of trouble. (Kutcher was at Masterson’s bachelor party in San Diego in late September when the “Two and a Half Men” actor allegedly got into hot water — with another woman.)

This time Kutcher was hosting a party for the trendy eyewear brand he invests in, Warby Parker, thrown at Masterson’s LA store Confederacy. Wilmer Valderrama was spotted trying on frames along with Bijou Phillips, Shenae Grimes, Soleil Moon Frye, Sarah Paulson and Emmy Rossum. A spy said Kutcher “was in really good spirits.” Masterson, who DJ’d, tweeted afterward, “Epic nite gents.”

Ashton Kutcher sure knows how to celebrate his anniversary.

To ring in six years of marriage with wife Demi Moore, 48, the 33-year-old “Two and a Half Men” star spent the evening of Sept. 24 trolling San Diego nightclubs before slipping into a hot tub with two young women back at his hotel room, according to the new issue of Us Weekly.

After cruising through the Fluxx nightclub with “That ’70s Show” co-star Danny Masterson and his brother Chris, Kutcher was overheard by one spy saying none of the women at the club were “hot-tub worthy.”

Ladies worth his Jacuzzi weren’t too far off, though.

According to the magazine, Kutcher met local woman Sara Leal and a friend of hers back at his $2,500-per-night, 1,200-square-foot suite at the Hard Rock Hotel.

“Ashton told them he was separated from Demi,” a source said. Soon enough, the three were getting to know one another.

“Within five minutes, they were all naked in the hot tub, making out,” another source told the magazine.

Moore was spending the evening promoting “5,” a series of short films about the effects of breast cancer.

Speculation has swirled around the couple, considering that in recent weeks both have posted cryptic messages to their Twitter accounts, Moore at one point stopped following her husband on the site and then started back up and the actress has been noticed looking markedly gaunt.

The pair was spotted Friday entering a Los Angeles-area Kabbalah center together, but still a friend of Moore’s told the magazine that the actress was “struggling. She’s been alone a lot lately.”

Blonde Sara Leal, who reportedly slept with Ashton Kutcher last weekend, is working overtime to cash in on the scandal.

Sources say she’s working with an ex-lover-turned club promoter to sell her story. She’s also in cahoots with a paparazzo who plans to sell staged new “street” pictures of Leal. “She gets a cut of whatever [the photos] sell for,” a source said.

Leal has also asked for a six-figure payday from Kutcher to stay quiet about their alleged liaison in San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel last weekend. She’s been meeting with attorney Keith Davidson, who represented a Betty Ford Clinic worker who filed assault charges against Lindsay Lohan but later dropped them.

Reps for Ashton and wife Demi Moore were mum last night. But Kutcher sounded fed up on Twitter, writing yesterday, “When you ASSUME to know that which you know nothing of you make an ASS out of U and ME.”

Photos of Kutcher leaving an LA club with a blonde last June got the Web abuzz yesterday, but sources tell us she’s Austin Dawn, a spokesmodel for one of Kutcher’s tech companies. Moore, who had been here promoting Lifetime’s “Five,” an anthology of films directed by her and Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Penelope Spheeris and Patty Jenkins, was back in LA but stayed unusually quiet on Twitter.

Ashton Kutcher is being asked to pay a six-figure sum to a blonde who claims she had sex with him on the same day he and wife Demi Moore celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary.

Sara Leal, 23, is preparing to tell the story of how she hooked up with “Two and a Half Men” star Kutcher, 33, at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego last Friday, following a boozy night with his guy friends, according to a report on thedirty.com.

Now Leal has met with Beverly Hills lawyer Keith Davidson, who represented former Betty Ford worker Dawn Holland after she complained Lindsay Lohan attacked her. Holland dropped her claim after settling with Lohan’s camp, reportedly for $25,000.

A source said, “Sara is talking to multiple media outlets for a deal. She wants $250,000, but the offers haven’t been as high. What she really wants is to get a payoff from Ashton. She has reached out to Ashton’s team.”

Whether Kutcher, 33, can rescue things with Moore, 48, is not known. The pair spent their anniversary on Sept. 24 apart and — both prolific tweeters — have remained silent.

Kutcher’s lawyer Marty Singer, and a manager who reps both stars, refused to comment.

Kutcher was in San Diego and partied with actor Danny Masterson at Fluxx nightclub on Friday, where Leal is alleging he had sex with her at his hotel, according to thedirty.com.

Moore, at a New York event on Monday, appeared thin and gaunt and refused to do interviews. She and Kutcher were last pictured together on her Twitter feed in July. But recently Moore’s posts have been darker. On Sept. 23, she quoted a Greek philosopher, writing, “When we are offended at any man’s fault, turn to yourself & study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger.” On Monday she posted a picture of her face with her eyes closed, and the words, “I see through you.”

Ashton Kutcher will play “an Internet billionaire with a broken heart” when he arrives as the new star of “Two and a Half Men” next month.

CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler shared this tidbit about the much-anticipated cast change for TV’s biggest sitcom during a session with television reporters on Wednesday. Kutcher, of course, will fill the void left by Charlie Sheen, who made a stormy exit from “Men” last season.

Kutcher’s character will be named Walden Schmidt, confided the CBS boss, who added that Schmidt has no family connection to the characters played by continuing stars Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones. They portrayed the brother and nephew of Sheen’s departed character.

Tassler would not confirm or deny reports that the new season of “Men” begins with the death of Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper, and a funeral.

“The mystery is part of the marketing,” she said.

“Men” begins its ninth season on Sept. 19 with the first of a two-part kickoff that establishes Kutcher’s character.

Predictably, Tassler voiced excitement about the show’s new star.

Kutcher, she said, “is an extraordinarily professional, talented, funny, gifted actor who comes with a tremendous amount of commitment and enthusiasm.”

“The show will be as irreverent as it has ever been,” she promised. “Our Program Practices people are already on high alert.”

Even so, Kutcher and his “Men” co-stars were conspicuously absent from Wednesday’s sessions of the Television Critics Association, which was visited by cast members from several of CBS’ new fall shows as well as from “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” the veteran crime drama that is welcoming Ted Danson to the fold for its upcoming 12th season.

Asked why the “Men” gang wasn’t on hand, Tassler replied that the show is in production. It resumed shooting Monday, and a break for a meeting across town with reporters would have been too disruptive, she explained.

“There is a tremendous amount of energy and focus and attention,” Tassler said. “I would be lying if I didn’t say when everybody walked on that set on Monday, you could cut the air with a knife.”

Kutcher’s first week on the job begins a new chapter for “Men” after a tumultuous conclusion to Sheen’s eight-season run as a fast-living, womanizing cad. Sheen’s portrayal drew inspiration from his own life of sex sprees, serial marriages and substance abuse, which spiraled into clashes with the show’s studio as well as its creator, Chuck Lorre, and CBS. He was fired in March and the season was shuttered early.

Tassler was asked what she had learned from that experience.

“Oh, where do I begin?” she replied with mock weariness, but hastily insisted she preferred to look forward, not behind.

Then, when asked if, in the future, CBS might introduce new policies for casting actors who are known for erratic behavior, she cracked, “That would probably be every actor in the business.”
