Ashton Kutcher is eager to boost his earning potential by ploughing money into the internet – he’s invested in a new travel website.

The actor, who landed one of the biggest jobs on TV after taking over from troubled Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men, is a huge fan of the web and was one of the first celebrities to become hooked on social networking phenomenon Twitter.

And the star is hoping his online knowledge will make him an internet entrepreneur after he invested a large sum into airbnb.com – a site which helps users plan their vacations.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the site is a place “where people can list and book places and things (apartments, sailboats or even the occasional castle) for traveling and vacations.”

Ashton Kutcher? Seriously?

With Friday’s announcement that Kutcher will be replacing Charlie Sheen, viewers could begin to wonder how he will be plugged into the hit sitcom’s tight little world. Can his particular appeal fill the void of the caustically droll Sheen? And just who the heck will his character be?

Neither CBS nor Chuck Lorre, the series’ creator, were giving any hints as they confirmed the deal to bring Kutcher into a show where Sheen’s character was the comic center, portraying an advertising jingle writer with a playboy lifestyle and an overwrought brother.

Kutcher, who first found sitcom stardom more than a decade ago on “That `70s Show,” specializes in puppy dog wholesomeness and laid-back, goofy sexiness. He’s perhaps the anti-Sheen.

“We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family,” said Lorre, also the show’s executive producer. “Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it’d be illegal.”

“I can’t replace Charlie Sheen,” said Kutcher, adding that he plans to work hard “to entertain the hell out of people.”

Kutcher’s quote was the news release’s sole mention of Sheen, who, two months ago, was fired by Warner Bros. Television when it cut short production of the show’s eighth season following Sheen’s public implosion through hard partying and angry criticism of Lorre.

The character that Sheen had played until then drew comic inspiration from his own life of sex sprees, serial marriages and substance abuse.

That character, named Charlie Harper, had started with a bang.

“I make a lot of money for doing very little work,” he boasted on the show’s premiere in 2003. “I sleep with beautiful women who don’t ask about my feelings. I drive a Jag. I live at the beach.”

Charlie was speaking to his dweebish, high-strung chiropractor brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), whose wife had just thrown him out of the house. Alan and his son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), had crashed with Charlie. There they stayed.

The gist of “Men” lay in the disparity between Charlie’s life of plenty and Alan’s frustrated existence.

“My life is pathetic,” Alan moaned on an episode this season. “On the other hand, Charlie’s life is great.”

But now Charlie is gone, and, with him, the show’s dependably winning formula.

The deal to replace him with Kutcher apparently came together quickly, following reports this week that negotiations with film actor Hugh Grant to join the show had fallen through. A deadline on deciding whether the show would continue was looming, with CBS set to unveil its fall schedule to advertisers in New York next Wednesday.

Besides “That `70s Show,” Kutcher’s credits include film roles like the romantic comedy “No Strings Attached” and his producing and hosting roles for the prank show “Punk’d.”

Kutcher is not as well-known as Sheen but, at age 33, is a dozen years younger and has a huge flock of fans who check in on his every utterance on Twitter.

It was on Twitter, of course, where on Thursday Kutcher gave his followers a sly clue for what was coming.

“What’s the square root of 6.25?” the actor asked in a tweet.

The answer is 2 1/2.

Once the news was out Friday, Sheen was tossing around numbers, too.

“Enjoy the show, America,” he said in a statement. “Enjoy seeing a 2.0 in the demo every Monday, WB.”

Sheen used TV lingo to predict failure for the revamped “Men.” He referred to a 2.0 Nielsen Co. rating among the 18- to 49-year-old demographic that advertisers often seek. This season, “Two and a Half Men” averaged a 4.1 rating in that group.

Actually, Kutcher might be expected to have a younger following than Sheen and one that could be curious about his new role. The difficulty might be the older makeup of CBS’ audience in general, more Sheen’s crowd than Kutcher’s.

Sheen, in his statement, advised Kutcher to “Enjoy planet Chuck. … There is no air, laughter, loyalty or love there.” That’s a reference to his feud with former boss Lorre, which has hardly abated since his sacking.

And it had to serve as a reminder to Lorre that, amid many unanswered questions, one thing is already clear: with Kutcher, the “Two and a Half Men” set will be a much more peaceful place.

Will it be as funny? What do you think?

With Kutcher wearing a full pig’s head mask and kabbalah-practicing Moore wearing pig ears, they rolled into Meatpacking District club SL at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning and hit the dance floor.

Ashton kept the mask on, said one observer, “assumedly so no one bothered him while he danced — not that he didn’t draw enough attention by wearing a pink, oversized stuffed mask.” The couple and Moore’s daughter, Rumer Willis, also went over to Avenue, and sat near Kings of Leon rocker Jared Followill.

And while newly single Ashley Greene maintains she’s “just friends” with Followill, she came alone to Avenue at 3 a.m. to meet up with him. The pair were “very affectionate,” said a witness.

The 48-year-old actress kept embracing Colin Owens on the set of her 32-year-old spouse’s new movie ‘No Strings Attached’ because they looked so alike from behind.

Colin – who also worked alongside Natalie Portman in the romantic comedy – said: “More than once on the set Demi has come up behind me and you know, hugged me thinking I was Ashton because we were dressed the same.”

However, Colin revealed Demi always realised her mistake and never tried to kiss him, and insisted he would never have reciprocated her gestures.

Asked by website HollywoodLife if he was tempted to make a move back, Colin added: “No! She’s a great woman. She’s a friend . so, no.”

Ashton, meanwhile – who wed Demi in 2005 – admits their marriage works because they are both actors.

Asked if his wife ever got jealous over his sex scenes with Natalie, he said: “No, the beauty of my relationship is that we are both actors so we both understand what we have to do at work and what that entails so it’s a good thing being married to an actress!”

The handsome star recently admitted he is always working hard at his marriage – and likes to use social networking websites to send affectionate messages to his spouse.

He said: “Sending sweet nothings on twitter or Facebook is fun. In some ways, it’s no different than sending flowers to the office: You are declaring your love for everyone to see. Who doesn’t like to be publicly adored?”

Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have committed to tackle the tough Master Cleanse diet once a year – to get their bodies prepared for a potential food shortage.

Actor Kutcher fears the end of the world is near and he is doing what he can to make sure he and his wife survive on as little as possible.

So the couple has chosen to exist on nothing but water, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and lemon juice for 10 days once a year.

The Killers star tells Men’s Fitness magazine, “If the s**t hits the fan, I like knowing I could live off water and syrup for a couple of weeks.”

Moore and Kutcher kicked off their first Master Cleanse earlier this year – and tweeted about how tough it was.

The actor wrote, “hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough.”

Moore, who insisted she was on the cleanse for “health reasons”, added, “2nd day better than the 1st! (I’ll) let you know if I make it to day 4.”

The couple completed the Master Cleanse challenge.

Adult film executives have fired back at Ashton Kutcher after he vowed to take legal action over the use of his name to promote a sex tape, insisting the actor’s threats are “without merit”.

Vivid Entertainment chiefs are set to release a new porn video featuring Brittney Jones, who claims to have slept with Kutcher.

A press release for the clip declares: “Ashton’s fans will undoubtedly enjoy seeing what the star himself may have experienced.”

Attorneys for the Just Married star claim the association infringes on his “marketable celebrity identity value” and have threatened to sue if his name is not removed.

Vivid boss Steve Hirsch has now hit back at the claims, passing blame for any damage that may be caused to Kutcher’s reputation – because they didn’t start the rumour, reports TMZ.com.

In a letter addressing Kutcher’s lawsuit plans, Hirsch insists his company executives have done nothing wrong, dismissing the legal threat as completely “without merit”.

Ashton Kutcher put on a brave face yesterday as he appeared in public with his wife Demi Moore, just days after the 32-year-old actor was hit with allegations that he cheated on her, reports the UK’s Daily Mail. According to the newspaper, the couple, “showered each other with affection and romantic gazes”, as they spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative’s Annual Meeting yesterday.

A recent Star Magazine article reported that Kutcher had cheated on his wife of five years, but last week, the actor’s lawyer told US Magazine that the star of ‘Punk’d’ totally denies the rumours of infidelity, saying, “Star Magazine continuously publishes lies about Ashton Kutcher and many other celebrities. This is not the first, nor will it be the last time they engage in reckless conduct.”

US Magazine also report that the couple were all smiles at the event in New York, at which they both spoke on behalf of their ‘Real Men’ campaign against child sex slavery – Moore was also wearing her wedding ring. Kutcher is set to star in the 2011 movie, ‘No Strings’, which follows the story of a couple who want to keep their relationship purely physical, the film also stars Natalie Portman.
